Irma Marie Gross

Irma Marie Gross, 91, of Mason City, died Wednesday, July 13, 1994,
at her home.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday, July 16, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church,
Mason City, with the Rev. James E. Hayes and the
Rev. Msgr. Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Burial was in
Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery. A scriptural service was held
Friday, July 15, at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel. The service
was conducted by Mr. Rodney Blaul.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of
Irma Marie Gross.

Benny O. Smith

Mr. Benny O. Smith, 68, of Clear Lake, died Monday, July 18, 1994,
at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 21, at Zion Lutheran Church,
Clear Lake, with the Rev. Murley Severtson officiating. Interment
was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

The family suggests memorials to the Benny O. Smith Memorial Fund.

Benny was born Jan. 31, 1926, in rural Clear Lake, the son of
Charles Smith and Dolly (nee) Shaffer Smith.

He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1943. He served in the
Army during World War II. He was a rural mail carrier in the
Clear Lake area for over 34 years and also farmed south of Clear Lake.

On April 14, 1962 he married Darlene Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church,
Clear Lake. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake,
life member of the Clear Lake V.F.W. and a member of National
Rifleman's Association.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Smith, Clear Lake; a daughter,
Shari Smith, Clear Lake; a son Bennett Smith, Iowa City, Iowa;
one aunt Mrs. Alta Bunting and her husband, Arvid, Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloists Larry Shaffer
and Terri Corsello.Honorary pallbearers Francis Flusek,
Dave Kennedy, Ronald Hendricks, Walt Leslie, Carroll Anderson,
Nels Larsen, Wayne Oltrogge, Louis Kofoed and Art Ashland.

Pallbearers were Shane Noll, Dennis Davis, Marvin Miller,
Randy Williams, Gary Nelson, Duane Nelson.

Edythe B. Hagen

Edythe B. Hagen, 82, Clear Lake, died Monday, July 18, 1994, at
the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Edythe B. Hagen was born on Feb. 21, 1912, in Mitchell, S. D.,
the daughter of Cornelius Lura and Anna Holland Lura.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and moved to Thompson,
Iowa, in 1918, where she received her education. On Feb. 22, 1936, she
was united in marriage to Harvey Hagen in Forest City. The couple
made their home in Linden Township for their entire marriage. She still
held her membership at the Lutheran Church in Thompson and affiliate
membership at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake. She was a
member of the Linden Ladies Club and enjoyed flowers, gardening
and knitting.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Hagen and his wife, Pat, of
Forest City; a daughter, Alyce Wilson and her husband, Larry, of
Clear Lake; four grandchildren, Pamela Madsen and her husband, Bill,
of St. Paul, Minn., Deborah Geddes and her husband, Greg, of Las
Vegas, Nev., and Denise Hagen....

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and three
brothers, Leonard, Curt....

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 21, at the United
Methodist Church, Crystal Lake, Iowa. Interment was at Rose Hill
Cemetery, Thompson, Iowa.

Edythe began working at Fryar Farms in Forest City in 1961.
Following that, she began working at Winnebago Industries and
remained there for 25 years. She also worked at R.S.V.P. in Clear
Lake. Harvey died in 1989. Edythe moved to Clear Lake ....

Pallbearers were Vernon Hansmeier, Terry Olsen, Kevin
Thompson, Dennis Larson, Eugene Thompson, Lynn Wooge.

John R. Kunz

Mr. John R. Kunz, 45, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, July
25, 1994, at his home.

Following cremation, interment will be held Friday, July 29,
at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Will
Hunsacker officiating.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge
of services. There will be no visitation. The family suggests
memorials be made to the John R. Kunz Memorial Fund.

John was born Oct. 4, 1948 in Mason City, the son of
Dr. Raymond Kunz, Jr., and Jean (nee) Bagley Kunz. He graduated
from Clear Lake High School in 1967. He earned a bachelor of science
degree in liberal arts at the University of Iowa and went on
to graduate from the U of I College of Pharmacy in 1975.

Following his education, he moved back to Clear lake
and was employed as a pharmacist at Casey Drug from 1975-1982.
He then joined St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City as a staff
pharmacist. He was later promoted to senior pharmacist supervisor
at North Iowa Mercy Health Centers east campus. He also was a
relief pharmacist throughout North Iowa.

He was a certified instructor for the North Iowa Area
Community College/Regional Health Education Center. He served
as an instructor for paramedics, CPR and other EMS related fields.
He also was an Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Iowa Affiliate,
instructor. His other certifications included Iowa Firefighter
I and EMT-I.

He was a member of the American Society of Hospital
Pharmacists, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians,
National Federal Professional Qualifications Board, Clear Lake
Fire Department and Clear Lake Verity Masonic Lodge.

He married Nancy Lee on Dec. 22, 1990, in Clear Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee-Kunz, Clear Lake;
five children, Stacie Kunz, Rick Kunz and Ryan Lee Kunz, all
of Clear Lake, Tim Kunz, Denver, Colo., and Rachel Kunz,
San Antonio, Texas; an uncle, John Kunz and his wife, Max, Overland
Park, Kan.; his in-laws, Herb and Vivian Ross, Dows, Iowa;
a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Sylvia Armour and
family, Belmond, Iowa; two grandchildren, Alexa and Dillon Anthony,
Mason City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents;
and one infant son.

Larry Miller

Larry Miller, 61, died Thursday, July 14, 1994, of a heart attack.

Mr. Miller was a native of Clear Lake, and continued to maintain
a summer residence at Dodges Point. Larry Miller was a 1950 graduate
of Clear Lake Highs Club. Mr. Miller went on to attend Military
Intelligence School in Washington, DC and finished his education
graduating from the University of Iowa with a Political Science
Degree in 1958.

Mr. Miller held a Commercial Drivers License, Pilots
and Auto Racing Licenses. He was a member of the Board of Bankers
Trust, Fareway Stores, Ruan Center Corporation, Truck Renting
and Leasing Association, American Truck Association Executive
Council--Policy and Finance Committee, and was Treasurer of the
ATA Foundat School. He attended North Iowa Area Community College
leaving to enroll in the Navy Cadet Program in 1952. He was promoted
to the rank of First Lieutenant as a United State Marine Corps
jet fighter pilot and achieved membership in the coveted Mach
Buster....

He is survived by his wife, Jean, Des Moines, Iowa;
daughters, Joy and Kim, both of Arlington, Va.; a son Rex, of
Des Moines; his mother, Oneita; and a special aunt, Carmen Vawter,
both of Dodges Point, Clear Lake.

[He was preceded in death ...] by his father, Lloyd W. Miller;
and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dieterlen, and
Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Miller.

Margaret M. Wreghitt

Mrs. Margaret M. Wreghitt, 87, formerly of Fertile, Iowa, died
Wednesday, July 27, 1994, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit,
Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30 at Church of Christ,
Fertile, Iowa, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Interment was
in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale, Iowa. The family
suggests memorials to Margaret M. Wreghitt memorial fund.

Margaret was born Feb. 23, 1907, in LaVoss, Mo., the daughter of
Clarence Borton and Hattie (nee) Miles Borton. She moved with
her parents at the age of four to Clear Lake, where she graduated
from Clear Lake High School in 1925.

She married William D. Wreghitt on Feb. 23, 1926 in Garner, Iowa.
They farmed in the Clear Lake, Ventura area until 1940. They moved
into Ventura and Bill worked at the Clear Lake Bakery until 1957.
They returned to farming near Hanlontown, Iowa, until 1962.
After Bill's death in 1963 Margaret moved to Fertile. She had
been a resident of Heritage Care Center, Mason City, since 1977.

Margaret loved to garden, bake, read, play the piano, crochet and
embroider. She was a RSVP in home volunteer, and was a member of
Church of Christ, Fertile.

She is survived by four children, Betty Ball, Lincoln, Neb.,
Lloyd Wreghitt and his wife, Leona, Clear Lake; Nancy Nonweiler
and her husband, Dennis, Mason City, and F....

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of
arrangements.
