from Jefferson High School in 1921 and received his medical
training at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon

He was a member of many local, state and national organizations
and an officer in most of them. With his wife, Vera, as his
constant and tireless partner, "Doc" was an energetic promoter
of Jefferson and his home state. It was as much a measure of his
vitality as a sign of his commitment to service that after moving

himself in the community as a volunteer. His work on the Main
Street Clear Lake effort, the Convention and Visitors Bureau,
the Board of the Iowa Trolley Park and as the unofficial
photographer for the Chamber of Commerce, among other activities,
helped to make him a familiar face in his new home town.

Though motivated by the great pleasure he found in working with
people and somewhat uncomfortable with public recognition,
Dr. Johnson had the good fortune to be recognized and appreciated
during his life. He received many awards and acknowledgements for
his professional and volunteer activities.

He is survived by a daughter Mary Ann Hendricks and her
husband Dr. James Hendricks; grandchildren Thomas Hendricks and
his wife, Susan and their children, James and Megan, and
