Kathryn LeFevre

Kathryn "Katie" Jeannette LeFevre, 83, of Burlington, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 6, 1917, in Abingdon, Ill., she was the daughter of Harry F. and Annie "Margaret" Evans LeFevre.
Miss LeFevre was a graduate of Abingdon High School. She worked in press production at the Burlington Hawk Eye for seven years and also worked at Iowa Southern Utilities.

She was a member of First Congregational Church and ESA International.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, five sisters and one nephew.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel.

The funeral for Miss LeFevre will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Cindy Bacon officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Abingdon, Ill. Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for First Congregational Church.

M. Lucille Douglas

M. Lucille Douglas, 87, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center in New London.

She was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Salem Township, the daughter of Evan and Viola Wasson Hudson. In May of 1930, she married Walter G. Elmore in Salem. He preceded her in death in October 1964. On March 9, 1968 she married Woodrow Douglas in Stronghurst, Ill. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1978.
She grew up in the Salem area and attended rural Salem schools. She spent her lifetime in the Salem and Mount Pleasant communities.

Mrs. Douglas was a homemaker. She worked as a waitress in Salem and at the Iris Restaurant for several years. She also worked at IRC in Burlington for five years.

She enjoyed quilting, making crafts and cooking. She was a member of Salem Congregational Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Miriam Francis of Burlington, Margaret Triska of Salem, Patsy Smith of Burlington and Mary Lou Stewart of Salem; two sons, Wayne Elmore of Bellevue, Neb., and Larry Elmore of Franklin, N.C.; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will begin after 12 noon Tuesday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Salem Congregational Church with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery . Memorials have been established to the Salem Congregational Church and to the Salem First Responders.

Margaret Rea

Margaret Edna Rea, 82, of Hamilton, Ill., died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Carthage Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Ill.

Born Sept. 19, 1918, in Gorin, Mo., she was the daughter of E.W. "Tobe" and Lucy T. Little Morris. She married Emile "Junior" Rea in East St. Louis, Ill.
Mrs. Rea grew up in Gorin, Mo., and graduated from high school there.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Rose Mary Rea of Carthage, Ill.; two sons, Mike and Richard, both of Carthage; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Reta Egbert of Gorin, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, five sisters, including one in infancy, and one grandson.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage, Ill., where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Rea will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Riley officiating. Burial will be in Nauvoo City Cemetery , Nauvoo, Ill.

A memorial has been established for the Hancock County Diabetes Association.

Nancy Stephens

Nancy Adrienne Buster Stephens, 68, of Burlington, died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 2, 1933, in Louisa County, she was the daughter of James Oral and Mildred Lewis Courtney. She married Lawrence Lindy Buster on Nov. 5, 1949, in Grandview. They divorced in 1974. She married Donald L. Stephens on March 5, 1976, in Burlington.
Mrs. Stephens was raised and educated in Grandview. She worked for Sylvania and Winegard and also worked for TRW for 16 years.

She was of the Protestant faith. She loved flowers and cats and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Michael L. Buster and Kip R. Buster, both of Burlington, and Douglas N. Buster of Wauconda, Ill.; one stepson, Brock Stephens of Jefferson City, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Karon "B.J." Stephens of Burlington; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, three brothers and an infant sister.

Her body has been cremated. There will be no visitation.

The private graveside committal service for Mrs. Stephens will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery , with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating.

A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Animal Shelter.

Hass Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

P. LaVerne Peterson

P. LaVerne Peterson, 85, of rural Winfield, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

Born April 15, 1916, in Swedesburg, he was the son of Leonard and Mae Lindell Peterson. He married Doris A. Anderson on Sept. 20, 1947, in Swedesburg.
Mr. Peterson was a 1933 graduate of Olds High School. He was a farmer and enjoyed crop farming as well as raising hogs and cattle.

He served on the boards of the Supply Co-op and REC (now Access Energy). He was a member of Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and as council president.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Janice Haugo of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Susan Flores of Wheaton, Ill.; one son, Leon Peterson of Winfield; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Ingrid Duhn of Emmettsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, one in infancy.

Visitation will begin at noon today at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Peterson will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Philip Borleske officiating. Burial will be in Swedesburg Church Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for his church.

Wayne Earp

Wayne R. Earp, 93, of Roseville, Ill., died at 2:02 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2001, at LaMoines Christian Nursing Home in Roseville.

Born Dec. 6, 1907, in Alexis, Ill., he was the son of Edgar Oliver and Jessie Irene Tinkham Earp. He married Marian Ruby Hess on Jan. 9, 1932, in Galena, Ill.
Mr. Earp was a graduate of Alexis High School and Brown Business College in Galesburg, Ill. He farmed all of his adult life in the Monmouth and Biggsville, Ill., area, retiring to Roseville in 1964.

He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed traveling with his wife in the U.S. and abroad. He loved raising his registered shorthorn cattle herd, which was a big part of his farming career.

He was a member of Biggsville Presbyterian Church and later Roseville Christian Church and held various offices in the church. He also was a member of Biggsville School Board.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald Eugene Earp of Sequim, Wash., and Donald Lee Earp of Roseville, Ill.; one daughter, Joyce Haning of Minier, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Welden O. Earp of Monmouth, Ill.; and one sister, Edith L. Hill of Alexis, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville, Ill.

The memorial service for Mr. Earp will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery , with the Revs. James Oliver and Tim Randall officiating.

Memorials have been established for Roseville Christian Church and LaMoine Christian Nursing Home.

Barb Williams

Barb Williams, 63, of Washington, Ia., died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Halcyon House after a brief illness.

Born Aug. 2, 1937, in Washington, she was the daughter of Earl and Juanita Pieper Redlinger. She married Dave Williams on Sept. 1, 1956, in Washington.
Mrs. Williams was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of her life in Washington. She was a homemaker and also worked in the Washington School District for 25 years before retiring in 2000.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Connie Gorius of Coralville, Peggy Chockley of Stronghurst, Ill., and Jennifer Williams of Washington; four sons, Roger Williams of Dallas, Ga., Jim Williams of Washington, Mark Williams of Hillsboro, Texas, and Dennie Williams of Washington; five grandsons; four step-grandchildren; one brother, Duane Redinger of Washington; two sisters, Marge Marshall of Burlington and Mary Louise Ramseyer of Phoenix, Ariz.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one brother.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Williams will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Memorials have been established for Washington County Hospice and Halcyon House.

Bernadine Wilkerson

Bernadine D. Wilkerson, 52, of Burlington died at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at BoMenn Hospital in Normal, Ill.

Born Jan. 3, 1949, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond E. and Evelyn B. Boyd Wilkerson.
Ms. Wilkerson was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School and had worked at Holiday Inn and Case Corp. in Burlington and was the dietary supervisor at the Iowa State Penitentiary, Fort Madison, at the time of her death.

Survivors include a daughter, Ronique Wilkerson of Bloomington, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Bartlett Wilkerson of University City, Mo., and Denny Wilkerson of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers and her father.

Friends may call after noon Saturday at King-Lynk Funeral Home, Fort Madison, where the funeral for Ms. Wilkerson will follow at 1 p.m. with her brother, the Rev. Bartlett Wilkerson, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery , Fort Madison.

A memorial has been established.

Herman Lydolph

Herman Albert Lydolph, 71, of Bonaparte, died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 27, 1930, in Bonaparte, he was the son of Guy and Pauline Rushke Lydolph. He married Mary Lou Nelson on Aug. 9, 1947, in San Antonio.
Mr. Lydolph was a graduate of Bonaparte High School. After graduating, he began a distinguished 24-year career in the Air Force, where he served as a chief sargeant. He and his wife co-owned and later owned Chief's Liquor Store in Bellevue, Neb., for nine years. He then enjoyed selling Chevrolet cars and trucks for 10 years until his retirement.

He served on the Bonaparte City Council. He enjoyed helping other people, seeing family and friends and was a diehard Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jacquline Kaye Jones of Rochester, Minn., and Jennifer Lee Conley of Harriman, Tenn.; two granddaughters; one brother, Paul Lydolph of Elkhart Lake, Wis.; and one sister, Gwen Kaiser of Peoria, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two half brothers and two half sisters.

His body has been cremated. There will be no visitation.

The graveside service for Mr. Lydolph will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Bonaparte Cemetery , with the Revs. Richard and Marlene Smith officiating.

A memorial has been established for Bonaparte Main Street.

Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson is in charge of arrangements.
