Frances G. Amos (nee) Laughlin

Frances G. Amos, 80, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 1995, at
the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

A funeral Mass was held at 10 am. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1995, at St.
Patrick's Catholic Churchin Clear Lake with Msgr. Joseph J. Slepicka
officiating.

Burial was in the Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. The
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of services.

Frances G. Amos was born on April 11, 1915, in Emmetsburg, Iowa
the daughter of Robert Laughlin and Katherine Laughlin (nee) Jackman.

She attended Emmetsburg Grade School and graduated from Holy Family
City Junior College in 1934. She was united in marriage to
Joseph Burton Amos on Oct. 4, 1936, and he was killed in action in
the battle for Iwo Jima in 1945.

Frances was a long time resident of Mason City, moving to Clear
Lake in 1960, where she enjoyed antique hunting with her special sister-
in-law Arlene Jacobson Laughlin. She also loved the lake and the
activities there and was an avid fishing enthusiast.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Kathryn "Kate" Quinn
and her husband David of Grayslake, Ill.; and a son, John Amos and his
wife Mary, of Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Matthew Justin Amos of
Clear Lake, Jennifer Sarah Ingersol of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. and
David Sullivan Quinn of Lake Villa, Ill; one great-grandson, Mark Allen
Ingersoll; one sister, Margaret Morgan and her husband John of Austin,
Minn.; one brother, Patrick Laughlin of Webster City, Iowa; three sisters-
in-law, Doris, Hazel, and Arlene Laughlin; as well as other relatives and
friends.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her
parents; two sisters, Cassie Essley and Virginia Scott; and
three brothers, Robert Laughlin, John Laughlin, and Jerry Laughlin.

Dolly Marie Eason (nee) Lynam

Dolly Marie Eason, 91, of La Mesa, Calif., died Monday, Sept. 25,
1995 at Golden Palms Nursing Home in San Diego, Calif. The body was
cremated. Graveside service will be held later with burial at the Sanborn
Cemetery in Sanborn, Iowa.

Dolly Marie Lynam was born Dec. 28, 1903 in Woodbury County,
Iowa, daughter of Sylvester Lynam and Grace (nee) Bolin Lynam.
She married Dr. John Marden Eason, D.D.S., on June 2, 1925 at
Orange City, Iowa.

Marie grew up near Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, a member of a large and
loving family. She attended rural school through eighth grade and later
[a] beauty school in Sioux City, Iowa. Following completion of beauty
school, she took a job in Sanborn, Iowa, where she met and mararied Dr.
Eason. She lived in Sanborn until 1972 when she moved to La Mesa,
Calif., after the deathaof her husband. Thereafter she made her home
with her daughter and family in California.

Marie took great pride in her childrenand grandchildren and was
always very close to her parents, sisters and brothers. She was a good
cook, a good friend and a adevoted mother and grandmother. Her
hobbies included baking, crewelembroidery and painting plaster
figurines. She was a member of the D.A.R.

Survivors include two sons, John Verne Eason and his wife Mary,
of Clear Lake, Iowa and James Marden Eason of Lakeside Calif.; one
daughter, Joan Marie Horne and her husband John of La Mesa, Calif.; five
grandchildren, John Mark Horne and his wife Cindy of San Diego, Calif.;
Julia Marie Russell and Jane Mary Horne, both of La Mesa, Calif.;
John Jay Eason and his wife Sara of Ankeny, Iowa and Melanie Kay Eason
of Fairmont, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Russell Johnson and
Samantha and Caleb Horne; three siters, Thelma Burmeister and her
husband Clarence of Bend, Ore.; Sylvia Rumohr of Moville, Iowa and
Dorothy Willer of Santa Maria, Calif and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceeded in death by her parents; husband; five
brothers, Jacob Lynam, Jim Ed Lynam, Harry Lynam,
Stanley Lynam and Everett Lynam; and four sisters Mabel (nee) Lynam,
Nell (nee) Lynam, Elsie (nee) Lynam and Blanche (nee) Lynam.

Ida A. Morse (nee) Cooley

Mrs. Ida A. Morse, 70, of Fertile, Iowa died Sunday, Oct. 8, 1995 at
the North Iowa Mercy health Center East Campus, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at
Church of Christ, Fertile, Iowa with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Ventura
Cemetery, Ventura, the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Graveside services
were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Ventura Cemetery, Ventura,
Iowa. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge.
The family suggests memorials to the Ida A. Morse memorial fund.

Ida was born Oct. 24, 1924 in Ventura, Iowa, the daughter of
Addison H. Cooley and Elina C. Bach Cooley. She graduated
from Ventua High School in 1942.

Ida worked at the Clear Lake Bakery and then Clear Lake Mirror.
She married Harry E. Morse Dec. 22, 1945 in Ventura, Iowa.

They lived in the North Iowa area until moving back to Fertile, Iowa
in 1962 where she lived ever since. She operated Lime Rock Cafe
in Fertile and also was a well known cook in the area.

Ida enjoyed doing all types of crafts, and made dog booties for
Libby Riddles dog sled team in Iditarod Dog Sled Race in Alaska.

Ida is survived by seven children, Sandy Gjerdahl and her husband
Dave, Rake, Iowa; Steve Morse and his wife Geri, St. Paul Park, Minn.;
Tim Morse and his wife Kathy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Scott Morse,
Anchorage, Ala.; Pat Morse and his wife Elida, Clear Lake, Iowa;
Jon Morse and his wife Debbie, Anchorage, Ala.; and Elin Miner and her
husband Harold "Shorty" Miner, Fertile, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; three
great- grandchildren; one sister, Evalena Coe and her husband Ted Coe,
Ventura, Iowa; and one brother Orland Cooley and his wife doris,
Ridgeway, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1963;
grandson Troy Burke; three brothers, Lawrence Cooley, Arnold Cooley,
and Clarence Cooley. She was preceded in death by her parents;

Ardis M. Flanigan
BRISTOW - Ardis M. Flanigan, 67, died Wednesday (May 24, 1995) at Franklin
General Hospital, Hampton. Graveside services will be held at
10:30 a.m. today at Oakhill Cemetery, rural Bristow, with the
Rev. Todd Smith of the Bristow Church of Christ officiating.

There will be no visitation. Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton,
is in charge of arrangements.

Ardis M. Flanigan was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Davenport. There
are no immediate survivors.

S. Louva Johansen
HAMPTON - A memorial service for S. Louva Johansen will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday (May 27, 1995) at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.
Immediately following, a reception will be held at the Gold Key
Dining Room in Hampton. Pastor David Nelson from the Church of Christ
will officiate at the memorial service.

The family has requested that anyone who sends flowers to the
memorial service take them after the service to a graveside of
their choice in observance of Memorial Day. Thank you for the
S. Louva Johansen family.

Cora Sterling

ALGONA - Cora Sterling, 103, died Wednesday (May 24, 1995) at Colonial Manor,
Amana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at
First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellis E. Andrews
officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will
be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home.

Cora Sterling was born Feb. 20, 1892, in Kossuth County.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Krause of Iowa City;
two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

George O'Brien
MASON CITY - George O'Brien, 71, of 522 13th St. S.E., died Thursday (May 25, 1995)
at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the
Rev. Clifton L. Bruland officiating. Burial will be in
Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with full military rites by the
Mason City Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major-Erickson
Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and will continue one hour
prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be
directed to the George O'Brien Memorial Fund.

George O'Brien was born Oct. 11, 1923, to
John O'Brien and Blanche (nee) Andrew O'Brien in Murrayville, Ill.
George moved with his family in 1929 to Clear Lake. He attended
Clear Lake and Mason City schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy
during World War II and served with the Armed Guard on Merchant Ships.
After the war, he returned to Mason City. He married Viola Anderson
on Sept. 3, 1949, in Minneapolis. George worked for O'Brien moving
and storage for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran
Church, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Viola O'Brien of Mason City; two sons,
George P. O'Brien and his wife, Cheri, and Shawn K. O'Brien and
his fiancee, Kelly, all of Coon Rapids, Minn.; five
grandchildren, Jonathan, Paul, Kristi, Kendra and Amerita;
four sisters, Catherine Fuller of Clear Lake, Ellen McGriff
of Newton, Osa Tuthill of Mason City and Veryl Carlson and her
husband, Jack, of Des Moines; one sister-in-law, Sara O'Brien of
Mason City; 37 nieces and nephews; and 37 grandnieces and
grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother,
four nieces and nephews
