Joan Bushnell
Joan Crawford Wingo Bushnell, 70, of Calhoun, Ga., died Thursday morning, June 7, 2001, at Hamitton Medical Center in Calhoun.
Born Feb. 14, 1931, in Galesburg, Ill., she was the daughter of Noble Eugene and Eva Adcock Crawford. She married Melvin Wingo. They later divorced. She married Ken Bushnell in Galesburg. He died in 1974.
Mrs. Bushnell worked in the deli at Kmart in Calhoun and then owned and operated Joan's Variety Store in Calhoun.
She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Amvets, Eagles and the Senior Citizens. She loved to play pool and bingo.
Survivors include her companion, Loyd Jackson; one son, Rick Wingo of Ranger, Ga.; one daughter, Ardith Scott of Calhoun, Ga.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; and two great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
The private funeral for Mrs. Bushnell was June 9 in Calhoun. Her body was cremated after the funeral.
The memorial graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Linwood Cemetery
in Galesburg.

Katherine Staats
Katherine Ann Staats, 42, of Wapello, died Wednesday morning, June 13, 2001, in a car accident on U.S. Highway 61, a few miles north of Burlington.
Born April 22, 1959, in Boonton, N.J., she was the daughter of Fred J. and A. Theresa Gehard Staats.
Survivors include her mother, Theresa Snyder of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; two sons, John Rosenkild and Taylor Stalter; and one sister, Deborah.
There will be no services for Ms. Staats. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery.

Esther Savage
Esther Stanley Savage, 86, of rural Mount Pleasant, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Pleasant Manor Care Center.
Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Searsboro, she was the daughter of Glenwood and Bertha Williams Stanley. On May 26, 1936, she married Lewis D. Savage in Indianola
Mrs. Savage and her husband served churches in Iowa, Ohio and Indiana. In 1968, they returned to the Salem area to serve Cedar Creek Friends Church. She was a homemaker for many years. For 12 years, she was the director of the Henry County Community Action, retiring in 1982.
Her family moved to Salem in 1930. She was a 1932 graduate of Salem High School and attended Simpson College. She was a member of Salem Friends Church and the Society of Friends. Esther was a gifted musician and gave of her talent to many children and adult choirs for the community and church. She was the director of the Salem Kitchen Band and member of the Salem Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Sharolyn Lisk of Mount Pleasant, Joan Kildow of Lancaster, Calif., and Rosalie Padgett of LaCrosse, Wis.; two sons, Stanley Savage of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Stephen Savage of Winona, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two sisters, Luella Dillavou of Oskaloosa and Bertha May Roberts of Newberg, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will begin after noon Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Savage will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Friends Church in Salem, with Pastors Tom Palmer and Marc Hershberger officiating. Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Salem Friends Church, Pleasant View Mennonite Church and Camp Quaker Heights.
Goldie Hammans
Goldie Margaret Hammans, 94, of Keosauqua, died at 6 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2001, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
Born April 4, 1907, in Pierceville, she was the daughter of George and Allie Alexander Hooper. On Aug. 16, 1941, she married Edwin C. Hammans in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1987.
Mrs. Hammans was a homemaker.
She lived in Jefferson County for more than 50 years. She attended Suburban Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one nephew, Harry Hooper of Keosauqua; and one niece, Dorothy Carter of Mount Pleasant.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. There will be no family visitation.
The graveside service for Mrs. Hammans will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery
in Fairfield, with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating.
A memorial has been established for the donor's choice.
Hazel Anderson
Hazel Marie Anderson, 93, of Los Gatos, Calif., formerly of Burlington, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at her home.
Born Feb. 17, 1908, in Flint River Township, Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Delbert E. and Hattie Mae Arnold Nelson. On Feb. 13, 1947, she married William J. Anderson. He died April 18, 1962.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker.
She loved reading, especially The Hawk Eye, which she subscribed to for at least 40 years. She also enjoyed traveling and working in her yard.
Survivors include one daughter, Pauline Sprock of Los Gatos; one sister, Helen Zaiss of Burlington; one brother, Delbert Nelson of Mount Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
The body of Mrs. Anderson was cremated. Burial was in Golden Gate National Cemetery
in San Bruno, Calif.
Chapel of the Hills was in charge of arrangements.
Lois Ray
Lois M. Ray, 102, of Monmouth, Ill., died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill.
Born Jan. 26, 1899, in Mercer County, Ill., she was the daughter of Elmer and Emma Garber Boultinghouse. On Feb. 21, 1923, she married O. L. Ray in Monmouth. He died June 29, 1960.
Mrs. Ray taught rural school for a few years before her marriage. She and her husband first lived on their farm near Larchland, Ill., south and west of Monmouth. In 1942, they moved to the 3128 N. 2nd St. residence, where they lived many years.
She was a graduate of Monmouth High School and attended Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb, Ill. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Monmouth and its women's circle. She was a member of Warren County Retired Teachers Association, Academy Book Club and Tuesday Readers Club. She was an avid bridge player and loved to cook.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Alice Lytle of Peoria, Ill.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Friends may call any time Tuesday and Wednesday.
The funeral for Mrs. Ray will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Turnbull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Schleeter officiating. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church.
Marjorie Ehlers
Marjorie Mirlet Ehlers, 77, of Burlington, died at 10:07 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born April 26, 1924, in Sperry, she was the daughter of Clarence H. and Edna A.
Schmidt
Lucas.
Mrs. Ehlers was purchasing manager for Coppus-Murray for 38 years. She retired Jan. 1, 1991.
She was a 1941 graduate of Sperry High School, where she lettered in basketball, and a graduate of College of Commerce in Burlington. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of Illiamo Purchasing Association and its president from 1976 until 1977. She enjoyed her family, sports, latch hook and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Strandberg of West Bur-lington and Gary Strandberg of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Sherry Cooper of West Burlington; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Ehlers will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with Elder Suzan Strandberg officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Cemetery.

Marjorie Pollpeter
Marjorie C. Pollpeter, 88, of Warsaw, Ill., died at 5 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Carthage Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Ill. Arrangements are pending at Lamporte Funeral Home of Warsaw.
Willard Britton
Willard Revere Britton, 86, 1123 48th St., Fort Madison, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at his home.
Born April 5, 1915, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Frank B. and Pearl P. Herrmuth Britton. On Aug. 2, 1945, he married Ethel L. Holmes in Fort Madison.
Mr. Britton served for 28 years in the Air Force, retiring with the rank of CWO W-2. He then worked for 14 years for the U.S. Postal Service in Colorado Springs, Colo.
He returned to Fort Madison in 1984. He served in the Army Air Corps and Air Force. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge and served on the Fort Madison City Council. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nita Jean Russell of Las Vegas, Judy Britton of Henderson, Nev., and Mary C. Britton of Gresham, Ore.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Woodrow Britton of Fort Madison, Edward Britton of Beatrice, Neb., Frank Britton of Wever and Meredith Britton of Bartlett, Ill.; two sisters, Juanita Gilpin and Beulah Britton, both of Fort Madison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
The body has been cremated. There will be no visitation.
The memorial service for Mr. Britton will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Meredith Britton officiating. Burial will be in Soldiers Circle in Oakland Cemetery
in Fort Madison.

C. Joann Rodeffer
C. Joann Rodeffer, 67, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at LaHarpe Christian Church, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Rodeffer will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with Robin Thompson officiating.
Memorials have been established for her church and LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

Thomas Boeding
Thomas Edward Boeding, 54, of Burlington, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Dec. 18, 1946, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Harold and Ruth Schroeder Boeding. He married Carol Hunter on June 22, 1968, in Burlington.
Mr. Boeding was raised on a farm and was a 1964 graduate of Marquette High School in West Point. He worked for Chem-Gro in Houghton, Campbell Chain, John H. Breck and, most recently, in maintenance for Holiday Inn.
He was of the Catholic faith. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, NASCAR, the Dodgers and, most of all, his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Tammy Rambow of Burlington; one son, Joel Boeding of Burlington; two grandchildren; one sister, Betty Stukerjurgen of West Burlington; one brother, Bill Boeding of Burlington; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Boeding will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. John Hyland officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
