Ruth E. McCalmont

Ruth Ellen McCalmont, age 75, of Washington, Iowa died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following complications from surgery.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27th at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with the Reverend Chuck Brock and the Reverend Cindy McCalmont officiating. Burial will take place at the White Oak Cemetery in Thornburg, Iowa.

Ruth was born February 28, 1929 in Highland Park, New Jersey, the daughter of Lambert and Margaret (Zuidema) Van Eerden. She attended and graduated from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. While there she met H. David McCalmont and they were married on August 25, 1951.

Ruth was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, Iowa where she was active in the bell choir and in Stephen Ministry. She also enjoyed her family and sewing. On a recent trip to Alaska Ruth caught a 46 pound salmon.

She is survived by a son Tom McCalmont and wife Darlene of Palo Alto, California; daughter Cindy Hutcheson and husband Jeff of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son Tim McCalmont and wife Cam of Piedmont, California; son Scott McCalmont and wife Cindy of Ames, Iowa; and seven grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by a brother Lambert Van Eerden and wife Sara of Norristown, Pennsylvania; sister Margaret Dykhuizen and husband Jim of Honesdale, Pennsylvania; and sister Lois Van Eerden of Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband the Reverend H. David McCalmont in 1990, and daughter Deborah Gail in 1955.

Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, Iowa.

Raymond R. (Bud) Moberly

Raymond R. (Bud) Moberly, age 87, of Washington died Monday, November 15, 2004 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home in Washington with the Rev. Gene Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow services in the Swank Cemetery in Lone Tree. Visitation will begin after 9:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Raymond have been established for the Washington Care Center or to the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.

Raymond R. (Bud) Moberly was born on July 13, 1917 in Washington County, Iowa the son of Arthur Eugene and Clara Edith (Willtrout) Moberly. Raymond farmed in northeast Washington County. He was a life long resident of Washington County.

Raymond is the last of his immediate family. He is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Robert E. Scranton

Robert Eli Scranton, age 83, of Washington, Iowa died Monday October 11, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Friday October 15, 2004 at the St. James Church in Washington, Iowa with the Rev. Charles Fladung and Rev. Ed O’Melia officiating. Visitation will begin noon Thursday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 Thursday evening. Prayer services will be held at the Jones Eden Funeral Home at 7:00 pm Thursday. Interment with military rites will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or a general memorial. .

Robert was born September 30, 1921 in Washington County, Iowa the son of Frank R. and Alice G. (Jones) Scranton. He graduated from West Chester High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. On September 13, 1942 he was united in marriage to Theresa C. Bruty in Memphis, Missouri.

Mr. Scranton worked as a salesman for Mace Motors and later worked for Farm Bureau Insurance. After his retirement he worked for Perdock Motors as a salesman. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic serving in Guam. Robert enjoyed woodworking, singing, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Theresa C. Scranton of Washington, Iowa; five children – Alice Blanchard and husband Lynn of Fairview, Texas; Judy Skubal and husband Joe of Ainsworth, Iowa; Joe Scranton and wife Joyce of Annapolis, Maryland; Paul Scranton and wife Joyce of Ankeny, Iowa; and Sarah Anders and husband Paul of Washington, Iowa. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, two grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Dorothy Ann Steele

Dorothy Ann Steele, age 76, of Washington, died at her home Saturday morning, October 23, 2004. She had been in failing health for some time but death was not expected.

Funeral mass will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday – October 26, 2004 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Ed O’Melia officiating. Friends may begin calling at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home Monday at noon. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Monday evening at Jones-Eden Funeral Home. Burial will be Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, Iowa.

Dorothy was born November 1, 1927, the daughter of Cleo and Angela (Dunning) Shockey. A long time resident of Washington, she graduated from Washington High School in 1944 and attended A. I. C. business school in Davenport, Iowa. She married Clifford Steele December 14, 1946 in Washington, Iowa. They were married 54-years. Dorothy is survived by two sons: Ronald and his wife Candace Steele of Hudson, Iowa; Randy Steele of Washington; one daughter, Sara Jaeger of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Horak, of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in May 2001 and infant son, Clifford Thomas.

In her earlier years, Dorothy was a legal secretary for the Hicklin/Mathews Law Firm in Wapello and later personnel manager for Perfex Mfg in Washington. She retired as a real estate broker/associate in Washington.

She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. In addition to her deep love for her family, Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo and bowling. She also enjoyed volunteer work for many years. A memorial will be established. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Virginia G. Wallace

Virginia G. Wallace, age 92, of Washington, Iowa died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa with the Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Visitation will begin 1:00 pm Friday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Interment with military honors will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Washington County Hospice.

Virginia was born on September 29, 1912 in Ainsworth, Iowa the daughter of J. Frank and Bessie (Kight) Wallace. She graduated from Washington High School in 1931 and later graduated from Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa with her degree in Nurses Training. In 1936 she graduated from Ripley Memorial Post Graduate School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She later received her Masters Degree from the University of Omaha in 1959.

Virginia served in the United States Navy from March 8, 1944 until December 30, 1953. While in the service she was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois and Norman, Oklahoma. Virginia lived most of her life in Omaha, Nebraska and has resided in Washington, Iowa since 1970. She spent her working years as a nurse and was the nurse in charge of the Central Supply Department at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington, Iowa and the American Legion.

Virginia is survived by a niece Kathy Dunbar and husband Rolland of Washington, Iowa and a number of great nieces and nephews. She is the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elizabeth Simmering and a niece Virginia Beenblossom.

Luke D. Weber

Luke D. Weber, age 81, a long time Washington County farmer, died Tuesday October 19, 2004 at the Halcyon House in Washington following an extended illness.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Friday at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa with the Rev. Ed O’Melia and Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Visitation will be held at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm Thursday and from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm at the St. James Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the St. James Catholic Church from 6:00 until 8:30 pm. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday at the St. James Catholic Church followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Interment with military rites will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established for St. James Church or Hospice of Washington County.

Luke was born May 2, 1923 in Clear Creek Township – Harper, Iowa the son of John and Caecilia M. (Peiffer) Weber. He married Dorothy J. Greiner on June 1, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keota, Iowa.

Luke, a retired farmer, was a member of St. James Church for 56 years. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Washington Lions Club, past president of St. James Parish Council and Trustee of St. James Church. After his retirement from farming he worked for Bruty Lumber Yard and Wehr Farm Supply before becoming ill.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy Weber of Washington, Iowa; six brothers: Norbert Weber of Keota, Iowa; Wilfred Weber and wife Jean of Chesapeake, Virginia; Mark Weber of Keota, Iowa; Paul Weber and wife Ardys of Keota, Iowa; Isidore Weber and wife Linda of Kalona, Iowa; Tony Weber and wife Jane of Washington, Iowa; three sisters: Rita Vogel and husband Leon of Keota, Iowa; Martha Kleinmeyer and husband Alfred of Iowa City, Iowa; Celeste Woltering of Keota, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael, his parents John and Caecilia; a sister Bernadine Conklin; three brothers Edward W., Cletus J., and Clare I. Weber as well as several nieces and nephews.

Leo Glenn Beauchamp

Leo Glenn Beauchamp, age 81, of Washington, Iowa died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 26, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Robert Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin 9:00 AM Thursday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and from 7:00 – 9:00 Thursday. Leo was born December 5, 1923 in Jefferson County, Iowa the son of Glenn and Verle (Gray) Beauchamp. He attended school in Jefferson and Washington Counties. On December 10, 1944 Leo was united in marriage to Norma Jean Rhodebeck in Selma, California.

Leo lived most of his life in Jefferson and Washington Counties. He was a member of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department from 1957 until 1997 where he was a driver for many years. Prior to that he owned and operated the Standard Station in Washington for nine years and the A & W restaurant for seven years. He also worked at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington as a custodian for several years and was a school bus driver for the Washington Community Schools.

Leo was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, Iowa. He has been a member of the Iowa Fireman’s Association since 1977 and served on the Association Board of Directors for seven years where he was President in 1982 and 1983. Leo worked as a legislative lobbyist for the Fireman’s Association for over twenty years. He served on the Washington County Fair Board and belonged to the Washington JC’s for many years.

Survivors include his wife Norma Beauchamp of Washington, Iowa; son Glenn (Rita) Beauchamp of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter Barbara (Gene) Renken of Bella Vista, Arkansas; daughter Judy Moore of Washington, Iowa; son Thomas (Sandy) Beauchamp of Washington, Iowa; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister Doris Johnston of Fairfield, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Faye Beauchamp of Fairfield, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Christie Beauchamp.

Douglas Gene Allen

Douglas Gene Allen, 69, of Brighton, Iowa died Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 am Monday September 12, 2005 at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 Sunday evening with the family present to receive friends. A general memorial has been established.

Doug was born June 14, 1936 in Washington, Iowa the son of Warren W. and Irene E. (Roe) Allen. He lived in California and Colorado for a short time. He graduated from high school in Alamosa, Colorado. Doug was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Navy. He worked as a Firefighter at a Navy Base in Vallejo, California. Doug worked for Roe Hardware after returning to Washington and co-owned Hawkeye Sheet Metal for several years. Doug then worked for the Alaskan Pipeline for about one year. In 1977 he went to work for McCleery Cumming Company until his retirement. Doug lived most of his adult life in the Washington area. He enjoyed woodworking.

Doug is survived by his daughter Randi Yeggy and husband Mark of Riverside, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Travis Yeggy, Lucas Yeggy, and Journey Yeggy all of Riverside, Iowa; and fiancé, Barbara Brooks of Brighton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Richard Allen.

Ernestine A. Allison

Ernestine A. Allison, age 84, of Washington died Saturday, May 28, 2005 at her residence following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Interment will follow services at Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin noon on Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 Wednesday evening. Ernestine was born on March 3, 1921 in Conesville, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd “Joe” and Gertrude Lillian (Beatty) Embree. On December 24, 1938 Ernestine was united in marriage to James Marion Allison in Washington, Iowa. She lived in the Washington community most of her life. Ernestine dedicated her time to her family as a homemaker. She also worked for a short time at Advance Ross in Washington. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, and loved cats.

Ernestine is survived by three sons, Ron Allison and wife Dorothy of Washington, Iowa; Randy Allison and wife Diana Wilson of Coralville, Iowa; Rudie Allison and wife Rhonda of Fort Madison, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kris Moeller and husband David and children, Allison, Lauren, and Logan of Washington, Iowa; Jacki Williams and husband Mike and children, Alyk Williams, Grant Williams, and Benjamin Allison of Washington, Iowa; Brian Allison and wife Denise of Marion, Iowa; and one sister, Phyllis Zieglowsky of Garden Grove, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2001; and two brothers, Richard Embree and Kenneth Embree.

Ellen Benson

Miss Ellen Elizabeth Benson, age 103, formerly of 320 South Dubuque Street, Iowa City, Iowa, died peacefully July 30, 2005 at the Lone Tree Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday August 2nd at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, Iowa conducted by Loran Yoder. Visitation will be held at the United Presbyterian Church from 4:00 – 8:00 Monday evening where the family will receive friends. Interment will take place at the Swank Cemetery in Lone Tree. The family will receive friends for a time of food and fellowship following the committal service at the United Presbyterian Church. The Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements.

Ellen was born on a farm south of Lone Tree in Fremont Township on March 3, 1902. She was a daughter of Peter and Johanna (Olin) Benson. Ellen never married. She had four sisters: Anna Benson Eden, Hilma Benson Eden, Marie Benson and Esther Benson Calef all whom preceded her in death.

Ellen was a life long resident of Johnson County with the exception of a year and a half spent in Manchester, Iowa. After graduating from Lone Tree High School in 1922, she remained on the farm for a time as she enjoyed gardening and helping with the chores. She had been a member of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Lone Tree. Later she was employed as a housekeeper for many families in Iowa City. She very much enjoyed working at a Sorority House in Iowa City and in later years did babysitting. She lived in Iowa City until September 2002 when she moved to the Lone Tree Health Care Center.

She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews as well as her great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; and her two great great great nephews. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Charles H. Eden and his wife Irmgard of Fredericksburg, VA; Robert Eden; Florence Millsap and her husband Kenneth; William D. Eden and his wife Delores; Betty Kirchner – all of Iowa City, IA; Marion Eden of Hills, IA; Lavon Kirkpatrick and her husband David of Houston, TX; Wendell Eden and wife Betty of Washington, IA; Beverly Felt and her husband Donald of Desert Hot Springs, CA; and Margaret Eden Reynolds and her husband John of Sun City, AZ.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, and her four sisters (listed above). Ellen dearly loved all of her family and friends. She wanted to honor the memory of her nieces and nephews even though they are deceased. They are Carroll and Elma Eden, Donald Eden, Elaine Eden, Carolyn Eden and Don Kirchner.

Lucille A. Carson

Lucille A. Carson, age 92, of Washington, Iowa died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, September 21st at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will be held at the Jones Eden Funeral Home beginning noon Tuesday until 5:00 pm Tuesday Evening. The family will receive friends at the Jones Eden Funeral Home from 10:00 – 11:00 Wednesday morning. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church or for Parkinsons Research.

Lucille was born on March 14, 1913 in Gilbert, Iowa the daughter of Daniel and Emma L. (Dale) Jacobson. She graduated from Gilbert High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She began her teaching career in Story City and taught until 1937. She was united in marriage to W. Thomas Carson on June 15, 1938 in Gilbert, Iowa. She has been a resident of Washington, Iowa since 1937. Following her marriage Lucille was a homemaker and raised her four children. She later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and then returned to teaching school in Keota and Cotter.

Lucille was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington, United Methodist Church Women, Delta Cappa Gamma Teacher’s Sorority, TTT Chapter Y, American Home Division of Fortnightly and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, singing in the church choir, playing bridge and playing Scrabble.

Lucille is survived by four children including son William D. Carson and wife Patricia of Chariton, Iowa; son John R. “Jack” Carson of Washington, Iowa; daughter Mary M. Meeks and husband Max of Republic, Missouri; daughter Christine L. Carson of Washington, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Arlene and husband Robert Hitz of Tucson, Arizona; and Margaret Sorenson of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1977, 1 sister and 3 brothers

Helen Crile

Helen M. Crile, age 89, of Washington, Iowa died Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the Halcyon House in Washington following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Washington with Rev. Julia Poulsen & Rev. Dennis Fox officiating. Visitation will begin 9:00 AM Tuesday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established to the United Methodist Church, Hospice of Washington County, and for Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund. Helen was born July 15, 1915 in Henry County near Trenton, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd and Bessie (Hinkle) Loeffler. She lived in Burlington, Iowa from 1941-1945 and in numerous places in Washington County. Helen attended Star School in Henry County. On November 17, 1933 she was united in marriage to Clyde H. Crile in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Helen assisted her husband in the farming operation for many years. Helen was a cook at the Washington County Hospital from 1968 – 1977. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Home Fortnightly, Farm Bureau, Washington Country Club and the Friendly Circle Club. She was known as the resident seamstress at Halcyon House and was an avid Bridge and Pinochle player.

Helen is survived by four children including son, Marvin Crile and wife Phyllis of Washington, IA; daughter, Connie Bauer and husband Kenneth of Washington, IA; daughter, Linda Boston and husband Martin of Washington, IA; and son Tonnie Crile and wife Pat of Washington, IA; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Sanders of Iowa City, IA; Marjorie Crossett of Wellman, IA; Wanda Stannard of Phoenix, OR, and four sister-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde in 1987, one infant daughter, Nancy Jane Crile and son Jimmie Clyde Crile, six brothers, and two sister-in-laws.

Robert S. Foster

Robert S. Foster, 78, of Riverside, Iowa died Friday, September 16, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Washington with Rev. Delane Wright officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow services in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday at the Jones – Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 Monday evening. Robert was born September 8, 1927 in Washington County, Iowa the son of Lloyd D. and Helen L. (Reister) Foster. Bob graduated from Washington High School in 1945. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Navy. On February 21, 1959 Robert was united in marriage to Lois I. Naftzger in Iowa City, Iowa. Bob farmed all of his life in Washington County. He worked at the University of Iowa as a mechanical technician in the Department of Chemistry for 25 years and for 5 years in the Department of Dentistry. Robert was a member of the American Legion, American Quarter horse Association, and the Dutch Belted Cattleman’s Association. He attended the United Methodist Church in Tipton. Robert expressed interest in land conservation. He enjoyed hosting Pheasant hunters, loved to cook, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren’s activities. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County.

Robert is survived by his son, Jeff Foster and wife Tammy of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Kathleen Moon and husband Troy of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; 3 grandchildren, Alyssa, Tayler, and Brent Foster; and friend, Erma Lyle of Tipton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois in 1971; and 2 brothers Jack and Bill.

J.C. Herbert

John C. “J.C.” Herbert, age 81, of Washington, Iowa died Tuesday May 10, 2005 at the Washington County Hospital following a decline in health.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Washington with Rev. Julia Poulsen officiating. Interment will take place in Allerton, Iowa at a later date. Memorials have been established for the United Methodist Church in Washington. J.C. was born September 4, 1923 in Oregon, Missouri the son of Lee and Eva (Castilow) Herbert. J.C. graduated from Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri and then graduated from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. On September 15, 1945 he was united in marriage to Alice L. Sinclair.

J.C. lived in Ohio for the majority of his professional life where he was a United Methodist minister. He retired ten years ago and moved to Washington, Iowa. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. J.C. enjoyed writing articles for the Washington Evening Journal. He visited many churches in Washington and would write about the churches in his “A view from the Pew” column and the “Handyman Column.”

He is survived by three children including son, Joseph Herbert of Irving, Texas; daughter, Anne Herbert of San Francisco, California; and daughter, Susan Williams of Russell, Kentucky. He is also survived by two grandchildren, one sister Helen Horncker of Missouri, and brother P.M. Herbert of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kenneth Herbert and one sister Reva Garrison.

Ruth Jones-Krause

Ruth Jones-Krause, age 44, of Carlisle, Iowa formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday September 15, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa from complications following surgery.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Monday, September 19, 2005 at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday with the family present to receive friends. Interment will take place at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Lone Tree, Iowa. A fund has been established in memory of Ruth Jones-Krause for her children at the Washington State Bank in Washington, Iowa. Ruth was born April 16, 1961 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd Carl and Freda Louise (Coder) Howe. In 1979 she graduated from Clearfield High School in Clearfield, Iowa and later graduated from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.

Ruth has lived in Carlisle since February of 2000 where she was employed as a computer program analyst for Amerus Insurance Group in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Ruth is survived by three children, Tara, Tristen and Travis Jones – all at home; her mother, Freda Howe of Brighton, Iowa; and one brother, Roger Howe of Iowa City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Howe in 2002.
