PELLA — Sandra J. Heinen, 53, of Pella, passed away Friday afternoon at her home near Pella following a 10 - year struggle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at Faith Christian Reformed Church, Pella. The Family Committal Service will precede the memorial service at the Oakwood cemetery in Pella. Visitation will begin on Sunday evening and all day Monday at the Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Monday evening form 5 to 7 p.m. at the Faith Christian Reformed Church. Memorials may be designated for the Pella Christian High School Building Fund.

MYRTLE BAIRD
DELTA — Myrtle Baird, 87, of Sigourney and formerly of Delta, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Sigourney Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Delta Methodist Church. Burial will be at Springfield cemetery , near Delta. Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Keokuk County. Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney is in charge of arrangements.

KENNETH LYLE HUSBAND
SIGOURNEY — Kenneth Lyle Husband, 70, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24, at the Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with the Revs. Don Ridenour and Vince Homan officiating. Burial will be at Sixteen cemetery near Thornburg. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, at the Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Keokuk County, the American Diabetes Association or Delta United Methodist Church. Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.

SIGOURNEY — Dean Icenbice, 83, of Sigourney, died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at the Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with the Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, at the Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. A general memorial fund has been established. Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.

WHAT CHEER — Harry Landers, 69, of rural What Cheer, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the What Cheer Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Landers officiating. Burial will be at Garrett cemetery near Delta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney. A memorial fund has been established.

MADGE WHALEN
JUNE 8, 1910 — MARCH 20, 2006
OSKALOOSA — Madge I. Whalen, 95, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Thomas Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Tuesday, and the family will be present Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice.

KENNETH VANDER LINDEN
PELLA — Kenneth H. Vander Linden, 89, of Pella, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006, in the Long Term Care Unit at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at First Reformed Church, Pella. Interment will be made in the Oakwood cemetery in Pella. Visitation will begin Wednesday morning at the Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home where the family will be present Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be designated for the First Reformed Church of Pella.

NOV. 28, 1927 — MARCH 18, 2006
WHAT CHEER — Wanda Lueise Hicklin Van Benthuysen Krotoff, 78, of Palm Springs, Calif., and formerly of the What Cheer area, died Saturday, March 18, 2006. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer. Interment will be at the Springfield cemetery near Delta. A time of fellowship will follow at the What Cheer United Methodist Church. Visiting hours will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, and last until the time of the service.

DOROTHY PEIFFER
SIGOURNEY — Dorothy M. Peiffer, 75, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the McCreedy Home in Washington, following a brief illness. Private graveside services will be held at the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sigourney with the Rev. Jim Stout officiating. There will be no visitation. A general memorial fund has been established. Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney is handling the arrangements.

VERA M. (SEDREL) VAN GORP
PELLA — Vera M. (Sedrel) Van Gorp, 95, of Pella passed away Monday in the Long Term Care Unit at the Pella Regional Health Center. The Committal Service will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Oakwood cemetery in Pella followed by the Memorial Service to be held at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pella. Open visitation will be Tuesday afternoon at the Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home. Memorials may be designated for the First Baptist Church or Hospice of Pella.

VIOLA L. VEENSTRA
OSKALOOSA — Viola L. Veenstra, 98, of Oskaloosa, passed away Wednesday evening, April 12, at Pleasant Park Estates. Funeral arrangements are pending at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel.

Pearl L. Thomas
WHAT CHEER — Pearl L. Thomas, 77, of What Cheer, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with the Rev. Vince Homan officiating. Interment will follow at the McFarlan cemetery near What Cheer. Visiting hours will begin after 10 a.m. on Monday, April 24, with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. A memorial has been established to the What Cheer United Church of the What Cheer First Responders.

Diana R. Brower
July 6, 1942 — April 20, 2006
MASON CITY — Diana R. Brower, 63, won her battle with cancer Thursday, April 20, 2006, when she died peacefully at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City. Services will be held at St. Ansgar United Methodist Church 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home. Despite a long and difficult battle, Diana never allowed it to touch her spirit, leaving the disease with nothing left to attack but her earthly body. Her faith was never compromised, and she victoriously crossed the threshold to go home to be with her Lord.

Mary Maxine Sanchez
SIGOURNEY — Mary Maxine Sanchez, 94, of Hedrick and formerly of Martinsburg, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2006, at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery near Martinsburg. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made in her name.

Josie B. Robertson
Sept. 24, 1919 — April 24, 2006
KNOXVILLE — Josie B. Robertson, 86, of Knoxville, formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Wymore cemetery , east of Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Glenn Elwood Thorn
April 13, 1923 — April 1, 2006
OSKALOOSA — Glenn Elwood Thorn, 82, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the V.A. Health Center in Knoxville. Glenn chose to donate his body to science at the University of Iowa. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at the Jubilee Family Church at 410 South D St. in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Bill Tvedt officiating. Military Honors by the Harry L. Anderson Post No. 34 of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Post No. 2237. Memorials may be made in his name and will be designated at a later time. Arrangements entrusted to Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel.

NEW SHARON — L. Gelene Wallace, 81, of New Sharon, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with Richard McCulley of the New Sharon First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Friends cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation begins at noon on Tuesday at the Harden Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the New Sharon First Christian Church.

ONAWA — David M. Moody, 41, of Onawa, formerly of Tracy, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Onawa. Graveside service and burial of the cremated remains will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Bellefountaine cemetery in Tracy.

DES MOINES — Cali Rae Stover was stillborn Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Limberlost cemetery in Bryant, Ind., with Pastor Flint Redwine presiding. Memorials can be made to Precious Angels, 22719 550th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544. Baird - Freeman Funeral Home in Portland, Ind., is in charge of the arrangements.

BUSSEY — Dorothy May Agan, 91, formerly of Bussey, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Bussey United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Leveck officiating. Visitation wil be held 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Gilbert - Boman Funeral Home in Bussey with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Liberty cemetery near Bussey.

DAVENPORT — Jerald D. Frazier, 69, of Davenport, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at his home. Celebration of Life services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice.

SULLY — Chase B. Huzier, 21, of Sully, passed away Friday, April 14, 2006, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines due to injuries received in a motorcycle accident. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the Third Reformed Church in Pella. Family visitation is 5 - 8 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the Family Christian Center north of Sully. For those desiring, a Chase B. Huizer memorial scholarship fund is being established to assist teens who want to attend a Teens Encounter Christ weekend. Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

SULLY — William Moes, 88, of Sully, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the Sully Christian Reformed Church in Sully. Interment will be made in the Sully cemetery with military honors. Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Sully Christian Reformed Church. Memorials may be sent to the Sully Christian Grade School or the “Back to God Hour.”

EMMA LOUISE (KALDENBERG) DENNIS
COLUMBUS — Emma Louise (Kaldenberg) Dennis, 94, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Pella, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006, in Hilliard, Ohio. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Oakwood cemetery in Pella. The Rev. Spencer Thury, chaplain of William Penn University, will preside. Family visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to William Penn University for renovation of the Spencer Chapel.
