OSKALOOSA — Reta C. Allgood, 87, of Oskaloosa, passed away at Pleasant Park Estates Nursing Home on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Forest cemetery . Visitation will begin at noon, Thursday, at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday to greet friends and relatives. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Mahaska County Post No. 21 in memory of Reta and Bill Allgood.

FEB. 8, 1914 — JAN. 14, 2007
OSKALOOSA — Myrtle E. Gardner, 92, of Oskaloosa, passed away Sunday night, Jan. 14, 2007, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Morey officiating. Burial will be in the Highland cemetery at Eddyville. Open visitation will be Wednesday after 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Mahaska Hospice.

ARTHUR LOUIS WORMHOUDT
JUNE 17, 1917 — JAN. 15, 2007
OTTUMWA — Arthur Louis Wormhoudt, 89, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at the Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.
He has donated his body to the University of Iowa Medical School. Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa was in charge of the arrangements.

HENRIETTA A. VAN ZEE
PELLA — Henrietta A. (Netten) Van Zee, 95, of Pella, passed away Wednesday morning at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Oakwood cemetery at Pella. Visitation will begin Friday morning, with the family present Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home. For those desiring, memorials may be designated for the Pella Christian High School Campus Building Fund or the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.

BEN JAMES SAVILLE
NOV. 20, 1936 — JAN. 17. 2007
WAVERLY — Ben James Saville, 70, of Waverly, and formerly from Waterloo, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at the Kaiser - Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Tony Nester officiating. Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Kaiser - Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Memorials may be left to the Waverly - Shell Rock Dollars for Scholars.

JOHN C. KLOOSTERMAN
PELLA — John C. Kloosterman, 91, of Pella, passed away Monday morning in the Long Term Care Unit at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Interment will be made in the Oakwood cemetery at Pella. Visitation will begin Wednesday morning at the Van Dyk - Duvan Funeral Home. Visitation and lunch with the family will follow the funeral service on Thursday. For those desiring, memorials may be designated for the Peoria Christian Grade School or the “Back to God Hour” radio ministry broadcast.

DOROTHY M. ARENDT
HEDRICK — Dorothy M. Arendt, 89, of Hedrick, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Hedrick - Martinsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Kim Gates officiating. Burial will follow at the Brooks cemetery in Hedrick. Visitation begins at noon on Tuesday at the Hedrick - Martinsburg United Methodist Church with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Hedrick - Martinsburg United Methodist Church or to Keokuk County Hospice. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

DEC. 14, 1919 — FEB. 11, 2007
OSKALOOSA — Ruth L. Fleener, 87, of Oskaloosa, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Forest cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, with the family present Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. A memorial has been established in her name.

NEW SHARON — Gilbert De Jong, 93, of New Sharon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at the New Sharon Nursing and Rehab Center.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with Pastor Phillip Schrauben officiating. Burial will be at the Friends cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella.

CASEY MARIE HARING
OSKALOOSA — Casey Marie Haring, daughter of James Dean Haring and Rebecca Ulrey of Oskaloosa, was stillborn Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Forest cemetery at Oskaloosa with the Rev. Harold Schutte officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

VINCIL ROSS RUTTER
UNIONVILLE — Vincil Ross Rutter, 92, of Unionville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.
A private family funeral service will be held Saturday in Ottumwa. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gilbert - Boman Funeral Home in Albia. Burial will be in the Blakesburg cemetery in Blakesburg. An open memorial has been established. Arrangements by Gilbert - Boman Funeral Homes.

DICK GRUBB
MONTEZUMA — Dick Grubb passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. The family will receive friends between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

SUN CITY, ARIZ. — Gary L. De Jong, 80, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at his home in Sun City, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 N. Del Webb Boulevard in Sun City, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gary De Jong may be made to the Faith Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund designated to St. Mary’s or Westside Food Bank. PELLA — Carl Boat, 73, of Pella, passed away early Saturday morning at the Hospice of Pella Comfort house.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at Second Reformed Church in Pella. Interment will be made in the Oakwood cemetery . Visitation will be Wednesday morning until 2 p.m. at the Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home. The family will be present Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Second Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers, Charlie’s special interests were the Pella Opera House and Central College.

BRANDY A. TAYLOR
SALEM, WIS. — Brandy A. Taylor, 36, of Salem, Wis., passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, along with her daughter and nephew from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24300 W. Grass Lake Road, Antioch, Ill. cle Network in her memory.

WHAT CHEER — Helen I. Sypherd, 84 of What Cheer, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007, at the Pella Regional Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with Chaplain Vicki Roller of the Pella Regional Health Center officiating. Interment will follow at the McFarlan cemetery near What Cheer. Open visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harden Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella or to the Pella Regional Health Center Long Term Care Unit.

URBANDALE — Aileen A. Fleener, 91, of Urbandale, and formerly of the Searsboro area, passed away on Friday evening, April 13, 2007, at the Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center.
Arrangements are pending at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon.

OSKALOOSA — Walter Slycord, 86, of Oskaloosa, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Forest cemetery , with graveside military rites given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion, VFW and D.A.V. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will open after 10 a.m. on Wednesday and the family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice or St. Paul Congregational United Church of Christ in Oskaloosa.
