Arrangements are pending at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon.

OSKALOOSA — Walter Slycord, 86, of Oskaloosa, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, at Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.

FERN SARAH VANCE
MARCH 23, 1914 — APRIL 22, 2007
BUSSEY — Fern Sarah Vance, 93, of Bussey, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at the Bussey United Methodist Church in Bussey with the Rev. Jill Leveck officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn cemetery in Bussey. Visitation will open after noon on Tuesday, April 24, at the Winfield Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials have been established to the Bussey United Methodist Church or to the Greenlawn cemetery . Winfield Funeral Home in Albia is in charge of the arrangements.

PELLA — Margaret Elizabeth Waechter, 95, passed away Wednesday evening, April 18, 2007, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.
Those desiring to make a memorial, contributions may be given for Hospice of Pella.

NOV. 6, 1918 — APRIL 23, 2007
WICHITA, KAN. — Mary Jane (Hess) Gable, 88, of Wichita, Kan., and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, at the Lake Point Retirement Center in Wichita, Kan.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Tuesday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Forest cemetery in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. A procession will form at the Bates Funeral Chapel at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday for those wishing to go to the cemetery . Burial will be in the Forest cemetery . The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 4 - 6 p.m., the family will also greet friends and relatives Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service.

OSKALOOSA — Funeral arrangements are pending at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel for Nadine Garland, 91, of Oskaloosa, who passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Pleasant Park Estates.

EUGENE H. ROBERTSON
WHAT CHEER — Eugene H. Robertson, 92, and formerly of the What Cheer area, passed away on Dec. 7, 2006, in Mesa, Ariz.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30, at the Sixteen cemetery near Thornburg with Pastor Todd Follette officiating. Harden Funeral Chapel of What Cheer is in charge of arrangements.

RAY V. WILSON
JAN. 25, 1925 — APRIL 7, 2007
HAMILTON, MONT. — Ray V. Wilson passed away peacefully at his home in Hamilton, Mont., on Saturday, April 7, 2007.
His remains will be buried on May 29 at 10 a.m. in Grantsdale cemetery in Hamilton, Mont., with the American Legion giving the final salute. (Ray was a member of the American Legion for 63 continuous years.) We will always remember him as “one of a kind.” A memorial celebration of his life will be held in Oskaloosa this summer. Details will be announced in the Oskaloosa Herald when finalized.

JUNE 26, 1950 — APRIL 28, 2007
OSKALOOSA — Craig McCombs, 56, of Oskaloosa, passed away Saturday evening, April 28, 2007, at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Harry L. Anderson Post No. 34 of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans Post No. 21 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2237. Following the service his body will be cremated. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

NOV. 29, 1915 — MAY 10, 2007
OSKALOOSA — Nadine Garland, age 91, of Oskaloosa passed away Thursday morning, May 10, 2007, at Pleasant Park Estates Nursing Home in Oskaloosa. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Morey of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest cemetery . Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Friday morning at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

MICHAEL LUDWICK
BOUTON — Michael “Mike” Ludwick, 34, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Dallas County Hospital.
His body will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Memorial contributions may be made to his family or ABATE’S Bikin for Tikes program.

OSKALOOSA — Clarence Van Toorn, 85, of Oskaloosa, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.

THORNBURG — Billy Orr Shepherd age 91, of Thornburg died May 10 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside memorial serves will be 10 a.m. on Tues, May 15, at the Sixteen cemetery near Thornburg. Memorial gathering will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Thornburg.

LINDA GOODING
PELLA — Mrs. Linda J. Gooding, 56, of Pella, passed away Wednesday at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella and the Dudgeon McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello on Monday, May 14, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Grandview cemetery . Family visitation will be at Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will also be at Dudgeon McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given for Hospice of Pella Comfort House or Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

PELLA — Henry C. Schimmel, 71, of Pella, passed away Saturday afternoon at Jefferson Place in Pella.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Trinity Reformed Church in Pella. Internment will follow the fellowship time in Oakwood cemetery at Pella. Visitation will begin Tuesday morning at the Van Dyk - Duven Funeral Home where the family will be present Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. For those desiring, memorials may be given for the Parkinson’s Disease Association or the Trinity Reformed Church of Pella.

SULLY — Robert D. Oswalt, 80, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007, in Ankeny.
Funeral services are set for 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, at First Reformed Church, Sully. Burial will be in Sully cemetery . Visitation will begin after 2 p.m., Monday, May 14, at Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Sully. Family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sully Fire Department.

MONTEZUMA — Loel C. Ferguson, 93, of Montezuma, passed away May 14, 2007, at his home in Montezuma.

LARNED KAN. — Lois Irene Haynie, 81, passed away May 3, 2007, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Larned.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Father Bernard Felix presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Larned cemetery . Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, Larned, in care of the mortuary.

OSKALOOSA — Mildred Goemaat, 83, of Oskaloosa, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Don DeGlopper officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gil Visser. Burial will be in the Forest cemetery at Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Monday after noon, and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Central Reformed Church.
