MONTEZUMA — Delane Trenton Davis, 68, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, in Montezuma with his family by his side, following a battle with cancer.

KNOXVILLE — Ruth Z. (Woods) Slocum, 95, of Knoxville, passed away Friday morning at the Griffin Nursing Center in Knoxville.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at Eureka cemetery in Harvey. There will be no visitation.

OSKALOOSA — Betty L. Mathew, 78, of Oskaloosa, passed away at her home early Sunday morning, Oct. 7, 2007.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at St. James Episcopal Church in Oskaloosa with Father Terry Kleven officiating. Following her wishes, cremation was accorded and her ashes will be interred in Forest cemetery . A visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garland - Van Arkel - Langkamp Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church or Mahaska Hospice.

HEDRICK — Minnie Latcham, 92, of Sigourney and formerly of Hedrick, passed away Oct. 8, 2007, at the Keokuk County Health Center.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel beginning at 10 a.m. with the family present between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Pastor Todd Holman officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn cemetery in Ottumwa. Memorials may be made in her name to the family. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

LAJOLLA, Calif. — Emil Buechler, 90, formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away peacefully at the Springs at Pacific Regent Nursing Home in LaJolla, Calif., on Sept. 20, 2007, where he had been a patient since suffering a stroke on June 1, 2007. For the previous seven years he had made his home at Atria encinitas, an assisted living retirement residence in Encinitas, Calif.
A memorial and burial service will be held in Wisner, Neb., at a later date. At Emil’s request, his nephew, Fr. John Rader, will officiate at the services. Memorial gifts may be sent to Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via De La Valle, Solana Beach, Calif., 92075. The Kuzelka - Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, Neb., is in charge of arrangements.

MARSHALTOWN — Dora Jean Cole (Werner), 76, of Marshalltown, formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery in Montour. DAVENPORT — Clara L. Olson, 92, of Davenport, died Oct. 10, 2007, at her home in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Roger Neuman officiating. Burial will be at the Bellefountiane cemetery near Tracey. Visitation will begin Sunday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5 to 6 to greet friends and relatives. ROSE HILL — Gregory M. Meeks, 46, of Rose Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at his home near Rose Hill.
As was Greg’s wish, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Rose Hill Community Church in Rose Hill with the Rev. Del Bittner officiating. Flowers may be sent to the Rose Hill Community Church.

MASON CITY — Eleanor Hartigan, 86, of Clear Lake, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away Oct. 10, 2007, in Mason City, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Corpus Christi Church with the Rev. Edward Girres officiating. Burial of her remains will be held in Corpus Christi cemetery . Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. and vigil service at 6:30 p.m., at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blanden Art Museum or to the Fort Dodge Public Library.

HEDRICK — Rex Wilford Herman, 81, of Hedrick, passed away Oct. 12, 2007, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

WEBSTER — Ruth Snakenberg, 91, of Webster, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at the English Valley Care Center in North English, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Reynolds - Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with the Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at Sorden cemetery near Webster. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at the funeral chapel. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster United Methodist Church, South English QRS or Iowa City Hospice. Denison, Wilford
North English, IA
Wilford E. Denison was born July 23, 1926 in the Green Valley community near North English, Iowa the son of Earl and Maud (Hall) Denison. He attended country school in the North English community. He served in the Army during the Korean War. On February 27, 1951 he was united in marriage to Betty May Lane in What Cheer. He has lived in the North English community all of his life. Wilford owned and operated a well drilling and pump repair business for over 40 years. They wintered in Texas 11 years. He was a former member of the American Legion. Wilford died following a sudden illness on Sunday, January 27, 2002 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo. He lived 75 years. Wilford is survived by his wife Betty of North English; 4 children - Ruth Ann Dill and her husband Jerry of Cedar Rapids; Gary Denison of Cedar Rapids; Pamela Denison of Cedar Rapids; Crystal Clubb of North English; 5 grandchildren - David Dill and wife Cindy, Darren Dill and wife Whitney, Austin Clubb and fiancé Celinda, Travis Clubb, and Ashley Clubb; 3 great grandchildren - Cody, Alecia, and Riley Dill; his mother Maud Denison of North English; 3 brothers - Dyle Denison of Des Moines; Gene Denison of South English; Larry Denison of Iowa City; 2 sisters - Darlene Sissel of Anamosa; Janice Shirley of Minburn; and a brother - in - law Kenneth Lane of Norman, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father and a niece Marla Denison. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. Pastor Don Ridenour will officiate. Burial will be in the North English cemetery . Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
