Erma Irene (Carney) Rardin, 85, a 48-year resident of Post Falls, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene.

She was a lay minister, and many of her friends came from her Free Methodist, Wesleyan and Nazarene church families. Although her roots are in northern Minnesota, where she graduated from Motley High School, she loved the Northwest and returned to Post Falls in 1955 to raise her family with her husband, Joseph Rardin, Sr. Her son, Joseph Rardin, Jr.; her parents, Ida (Hills) and Brice Carney; her sisters, Helen Zentz, Myrtle Sanderson and Lila Drake; and a brother, Calvin Carney, preceded her in death. Besides her husband, her survivors include daughters Junea Rardin and Franida Maudsley; her grandchildren, Nicholas Rardin, Anya Rardin, Adana Harris and Corrina Wilson; her step-granddaughter, Angela Sharp; and her great-grandchildren Nathan Rardin, Justice Harris and Paige Harvey.
