Ernest Cecil “Ernie/Nick” Nicholson, 58, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at his home in Sandpoint, Idaho, surrounded by his grateful family.
Viewing for friends and family will be held from Noon until 5pm, Friday, December 14th at the Lakeview Funeral Home. A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will be held at 11:00a.m, Saturday December 15th at the Lakeview Funeral Home with Pastor David Barley of Lord’s Covenant Church in Sandpoint officiating. In honor of Ernie, please dress casual, be comfortable, and come as you are. Burial and military honors will follow at the Pack River Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lakeview Funeral Home reception area.
Ernie was born August 18, 1949 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Cecil and Elizabeth Nicholson. He graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. Ernie served four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
On November 8, 1969, Ernie married the love of his life, Peggy Rudlaff, in Stevensville, Michigan. He worked for Avion in Benton Harbor, MI and later for Clark Equipment Co. in Buchanan, MI. In 1979 he opened a Lutheran Mutual Insurance Agency in Rockford, Illinois. He retired from the insurance business in 1985 to pursue God’s calling.
In 1991 the family moved to Sandpoint, Idaho. Ernie owned Heritage Printers, worked for the Bonner County Daily Bee, and traveled the country as a long haul truck driver for 5 years. He spent the last couple years of his life battling cancer and he received excellent care from the Spokane VA Hospital and the Bonner Community Hospice.
Ernie spent his life following his heart and searching for truth and knowledge. Two of his favorite quotes were, “If you’ve met someone you didn’t like, you should get to know them better,” and “It’s been quite a party!”
Ernie attended Lord’s Covenant Church in Sandpoint and taught bible study classes with a positive love of Christ and his fellow man. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Sandpoint Chapter #890, and Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. Ernie loved to travel, was loyal to family and friends, and lived his life to serve God and his fellow man. His grandchildren were his joy and he never ceased to smile at their presence. He enjoyed reading, fishing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 38 years Peggy Nicholson of Sandpoint, ID; daughter, Laura Paulk of Sandpoint, ID; two sons, Nick (Cindy) Nicholson of Sandpoint, ID and David (Sandi) Nicholson of Bonners Ferry, ID; thirteen grandchildren Amanda, Tiberias, Tea-Tephi, Tyke, Sierra, Arielle, Conner, McKinzee, Dannicka, Haley, Emily, Coltan and Gavin; mother, Elizabeth “Jane” Nicholson of Gulfport, MS; two sisters, Cissy (Buddy) Merritt of Chesapeake, VA and Cindie (George) Holland of Gulfport, MS; mother-in-love of Dolores Rudlaff of Baroda, MI and a loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Nicholson and father–in-love Elmer Rudlaff.
Ernie was a wonderful husband, dad, papa, son, brother and friend to many.
He left the world a better place.
He will truly be missed but never forgotten.

Dawn Louise Desirey-Napier, 84, fell asleep in the arms of her heavenly Father at the Life Care SCU in Sandpoint, Idaho on Saturday, December 15, 2007.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Coos Bay, Oregon.
Dawn was born to Elberta and Sidney “Frank” Carter in Idaho Falls, Idaho on October 10, 1923.
She grew up in Butte, Montana until she was a teen.
She first moved to California and then to Oregon where she met and married the father of her children, Francis A. Desirey.
Mr. Desirey passed away in 1973, and Louise moved back to California to be closer to her family.
Louise worked most of her life as a mother, waitress, and as a supervisor in a textile craft factory in California.
After her mother’s death, Louise moved back to Oregon where she met and married Edward W. Napier, who passed away on August 4, 2005. She then moved to North Idaho to be near her son and his family.
Louise enjoyed knitting, gardening, canning, raising flowers, and Easter egg hunts in her yard for her grandchildren every year.
Her husband smoked the fish that he caught and she would send them to the family to enjoy.
She loved to read and watch sports, her favorite football team was the San Francisco 49’ers, and she would send them a donation every year.
Louise recently developed Alzheimer’s disease, but she always recognized her son Doran and enjoyed their daily visits together, reminiscing about the family and good times together.
On the day of her passing, Doran visited her with her little dog “Lulu”, kissed her goodbye and told her he would see her later.
Shortly after that she fell asleep in peace and without pain and now rests in the arms of God.
She is survived by her three sons, Doran (Mary) Desirey of Sandpoint, ID, Warren “Pete” Desirey of Charleston, OR and Mike Desirey of Dallas, OR; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; a step-great-great grandchild; sisters, Bette Lightner of Bakersfield, CA and Martha Rodriquez of Oak Harbor, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, six brothers and sisters, one son Francis A. "Chip" Desirey -in 1969, and her only daughter Florence Rene' Desirey-Henderson - in December 2004.

Ian Daniel Kinne, 7 weeks old, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in Kootenai, Idaho.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Pack River Cemetery with Pastor Jim Osman of the Kootenai Community Church officiating.
Ian was born on October 30, 2007 in Spokane, Washington to John and Andrea Kinne.
He taught his family how to be tender hearted and brought them much love and joy during his few short weeks here on earth.
He is survived by his parents, John and Andrea Kinne of Kootenai, ID; three sisters Johanna, Katharina, and Maria; brother, Noah; paternal grandparents, Dave (Betty) Kinne of Kootenai, ID; grandmother, Margaretta Ziegler of Bad Kissingen, Germany and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Angela Marie (Bond) Johnson, 42, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho following complications from heart surgery. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel with Charley Packard officiating.
A luncheon will be served following the service in the Lakeview Funeral Home reception area.
Angela was born on March 15, 1965 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Richard and Sandra Bond. She moved with her family from North Dakota to Sheridan, Wyoming in 1977 then moved to Sandpoint in 1980, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1983.
She attended North Idaho College for two years.
She married John Johnson in 1986.
A loving wife and mother, she was employed by the Lake Pend Oreille School District at Northside School for many years and currently was working at Pack River General Store. A job she dearly loved; working with Arlene and the girls in the Deli while greeting and chatting with customers were among her favorite things. Though small in stature she had a large and loving personality.
She enjoyed camping with her family, snowmobiling and going to Elk camp with her brothers and family.
You could always count on Angie bringing lots of home baked goodies.
Angela was very active in the Northside School Cub Scout Pack and helping with Northside School events.
Angela is survived by her husband of 21 years, John Johnson; son of Seth Ray Johnson; daughter, Chelsea Marie Johnson all of Sandpoint, ID; parents, Richard and Sandra Bond of Sagle, ID; three brothers, Paul (Teresa) Bond of Post Falls, ID, David (Melissa) Bond of Sandpoint, ID and Steven (Melissa) Bond Sandpoint, ID; Sister-in-law, Emlie Henley of Kootenai, ID; material grandparents, Bud and Harriet Moug of Coeur d’Alene, ID; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Betty Johnson of Kootenai, ID and a brother-in-law Bryan Johnson.
Memorial may be made to the family.

Gene Hess, 79, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho
Memorial Services will be held at 2pm, Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors.
Gene was born on October 29, 1928 in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Peter and Lela Hess.
He grew up in the Telluride, Colorado area and attended local schools.
At an early age, Gene joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country for over 21 years, retiring in 1971.
Gene met and married Helen Simmons in California on October 10, 1952 and together they traveled during his many duty assignments.
His hobbies included fishing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons, Jim Hess of St. Maries, Id., Don Hess of Coeur d’Alene, Id. and John (Lisa) Hess of Coeur d’Alene, Id.; grandchildren, Brandy Williams, Michelle Hess, Brian Hess, and Aaron Hess; great Grandchild: Tyson Womack; and brother, Leslie “Buck” Hess
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Lela; wife, Helen, 11 brothers and sisters, and grandchild, Mark Hess.

Kenneth Loren "Ken" Davy, 75, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his home in Moyie Springs, Idaho.

Lois K. Bond, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Private Services have been held.
Lois was born on November 24, 1924 in Vail, Iowa to Robert and Mary (Sisty) Anderson.
She grew up in the Vail, Iowa area and attended local schools.
She met Bud Bond in 1946 and was married in Reno, Nevada.
Bud worked for the A. Teighert Company and Lois raised their children in Sacramento where they made their home.
Her husband Bud passed away in 1984 in Sacramento and in 1997 Lois moved to Sandpoint to be closer to her family.
Lois was a member of the Eastern Star in Placerville, Ca and loved crocheting, sewing, cooking and raising her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Dotty Porter of Sandpoint, Id.; grandchildren, Jason (Margaret) Porter of Sandpoint, Id., Brian (Lisa) Porter of Sandpoint, Id., Brenda (Steve) Anderson of Lewiston, Id., Jesse Bond of Brookings, Ore and David Bond of Brookings, Ore.; great grandchildren: Jesse, Ashlynn, Benjamin, Julie, Nathan and Jacob; sisters, Donna Ribordy of California, Jeannie Phillips of Oregon and Helen of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bud.
