Steven Earl Bryant, 22, Twin Falls
Steven Earl Bryant, 22, passed away, Tuesday, September 2, 2003 in Twin Falls, Idaho due to natural causes. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday evening, September 5, 2003, from 5 – 8 pm at Lakeview Funeral Home, 301 S. Olive, Sandpoint.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Nancy Copeland-Payton officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. If you can join the family to celebrate Steven’s life, please wear his favorite color, red.
Steven was born on December 13, 1980 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ed and Sally Bryant. He grew up and attended Gooding State School until age 16. Steven moved to Sandpoint, where he graduated from Sandpoint High School in 2002.
Steven was a fighter. He beat the odds several times to survive a while longer here on earth. He was very sensitive to the needs of others and often taught us all how to love one another. He was forever smiling, and signing "I love you"!
Steven enjoyed basketball, play station, bowling, music, dancing, swimming, boating, and fishing. He loved when the color of his clothes matched someone else’s, he loved people, and he loved being included in activities.
He is survived by his Parents Sally (Curtis) Vincent Sandpoint, ID; Ed (Christine) Bryant Kimberly, ID; 3 brothers Matthew and Brett Vincent Twin Falls, ID; Joshua Bryant Kimberly, ID; Grandparents Wilma Southwick Buhl, ID; Alta Vincent Sandpoint, ID; Phyllis Wales Pocatello, ID; Elton and Laura Bryant Globe, AZ as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his extended family at TESH and Sandpoint High School.
He was preceded in death by 2 grandfathers Chuck Vincent and Frank Southwick.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home, Sandpoint, Idaho.

Shawn Leslie Swagerty, 38, Sandpoint
Shawn Leslie Swagerty, 38, passed away, Thursday, August 21, 2003 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private family services have been held.
Shawn was born on February 5, 1965 in Englewood, California to Don and Marsha Swagerty. She grew up and attended schools in Susanville, Ca., graduating in 1983. She then moved to Chico where her three daughters were born. In 1997, she moved to Sandpoint where she worked for Winter Ridge Natural Foods.
She enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, dancing, writing poetry, and helping others. She loved her girls and was the best hugger in the whole world.
She is survived by her 3 daughters Kyla Brown, Jade Hartman and Hana Swagerty of Sandpoint; Fiancé Brian Brown of Sandpoint; Father Don Swagerty Whitewater, CA; Mother Marsha McDonald Hendersonville, NC; Sister Stacey (Chris) Glines-Calvert Sandpoint, ID; Niece Kaitlin Glines Tacoma, WA; Nephew Graham Glines Santa Barbara, CA
Shawn’s minor children will be living with their aunt Stacy Glines-Calvert. A fund has been set up at Panhandle State Bank to help the family. Memorial donations may be made to Panhandle State Bank, c/o Dawn Rice, PO Box 967, Sandpoint, ID 83864.

Eugene Paul LaLande, 87, Sandpoint
Eugene Paul Lalande, 87, passed away, Tuesday, August 19, 2003 in Sandpoint, Idaho. A memorial celebration will be held in Sandpoint at Gene’s favorite place: The Hoot Owl Cafe at 5:00 pm, Sunday, August, 24, 2003.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nampa, Idaho with Father Rob Cook of St. Paul’s Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Gene was born on June 29, 1916 in Nampa, Idaho to Ulric and Claudia (Thoutt) Lalande. He grew up in Nampa and was a member of the U.S. Mounted Cavalry. Eugene married LaVelle Dalton on August 31, 1937 in Nampa, and shared with her 60 years of love for people, art, horses, golf, and family. They lived in Nampa where daughters Sydne Deanne and Paulette Lee were raised.
Gene worked as a branchman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a downtown businessman, working primarily in the pharmaceutical industry. He was a member of the Nampa Chamber of Commerce, the Snake River Stampede committee as well as a founding member of the Elk’s Golf Club in Nampa. He was also a life member of BPOE #1389 in Nampa. He retired in 1970 and he and LaVelle moved to Garden Valley, Idaho.
After LaVelle’s passing in 1997, Gene moved to Sandpoint and continued making friends and creating humorous art work. He published "The Senior Citizens Only" coloring book. Gene was an accomplished artist, winning several prizes for his work. He was a member of the Cowboy Cartoonists International. He also enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his sister Isabel Powell Sacramento, CA; daughter Sydne (Steve) VanHorne Sandpoint, ID; 2 granddaughters Rachel (Duane) Nordgaarden Sandpoint; Stefanie VanHorne of Portland, OR; great grandson Bryce Liberty Sandpoint, ID as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife LaVelle Lalande, daughter Polly Lalande, 3 sisters Florence Bockwitz, Lidia Lalande, Eva Groesbeck, and 4 brothers Roy, Vic, Omer, and Ulric Lalande Jr..
Memorial donations may be sent to Bonner Community Hospice, Panhandle Animal Shelter, or the East Bonner County Library.

Cheryl Dee Rush-Williams, 58, Sandpoint
Cheryl Dee Rush-Williams, 58, passed away, Thursday, August 14, 2003 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Cheryl was born in Los Angeles, California to John and Betty (Einhaus) Yager. She grew up and attended schools in the Los Angeles area. Cheryl married Samuel R. Rush, the couple had a son, and later divorced.
Cheryl moved to Sandpoint in 2000 to care for her father, and remained here after his passing.
Cheryl gave as few people could to the health care community for the past thirty years. She enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, riding motorcycles, and liked to support the the Humane Society, and Friends of Animals.
She is survived by her son Christopher M. Rush-Yager Homer, AK; brother Michael J. Yager Salt Lake City, UT; sister Laura Christine Roullett Baker City, OR and the many friends of her family in the Sandpoint and greater area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Yager, and husband James Williams.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home, Sandpoint, Idaho.

Virginia Eunice Simmons, 87, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2004 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Virginia was born on July 11, 1917 in Alameda, California to Russell and Eunice (Currier) Holt. She grew up and attended schools in Northern California. She attended college for a short time and theology school for several years.
Virginia married Donald Clark Simmons on June 30, 1939 in Richmond, California. She worked as Youth Director at Eden Congregational Church in Hayward, CA in the 1960’s. In 1991, Virginia and Donald moved to Sandpoint to be closer to their daughter.
At age 82, in order to assist others experiencing a rise in their kundalini, she authored the book “Reflections of a Mystic Grandmother” about her life and spiritual journey. Virginia was active in Sandpoint Sunday Service at the Gardenia Center. She enjoyed cooking, and reading books about theology, spirituality and metaphysics.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Donald Clark Simmons of Sandpoint; daughter Dona (Frank) Cook of Careywood; grandchildren Kimberley (Mark) Mann of Oakdale, California and Todd Krug of Newark, Deleware.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter Gina Acker in 1998, and 1 sister Flora Johansen.
Memorial donations may be made to “Sandpoint Sunday Service”, c/o Gardenia Center, 400 Church St., Sandpoint, ID 83864.

Charlotte Moon Darling, 82, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2004 in Ponderay, Idaho. Private family services have been held.
Char was born on June 29, 1922 in Sandpoint, Idaho to L. G. “Pike” and Hazel (Rice) Moon. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1940, and entered medical school at the University of Washington. When World War II started she went to work at Harborview Medical center as an X-Ray Technician, and later worked in Portland for a group of doctors as their X-Ray Tech Supervisor.
Char married Robert L. Darling in April of 1946 in Ogden, Utah. The couple helped run Mr. Darling’s family business, Kirkendahl-Darling Mortuary in Ogden, for several years. Char enrolled at the University of Idaho where she received her teaching degree in 1961 in Home Economics.
She returned to Sandpoint where she worked for the U of I extension office as a Home Economist. She also taught home economics at Sandpoint High School for several years. Char’s love of children prompted her to open Humpty Dumpty Day Nursery on Pine Street. She later retired in 1982.
Char was a staunch Republican, serving as head of the Republican Central Committee in the early 1960’s. She was a practicing Christian Scientist; loved children, especially her grandchildren; enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, needlework, and cooking. Char was a very generous person, and loved to make people happy.
She is survived by her four sons Larry Darling, Dave (Ely) Darling, Doug (Robin) Darling all of Sandpoint and John Darling of Kennewick, Washington; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Bud (Susan) Moon of Hope and sister K.T. (Gene) Littlefield of Sandpoint; as well as numerous nieces and nephews including, Diedre (Bill) Ford Anchorage, AK; and Pat (Warren) Welch Hollywood, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and nephew Pete Moon.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Mrs. Darling’s name to the University of Idaho Alumni Association, PO Box 443147, Moscow, ID 83844.

Carol Clark McIntyre, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2004 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private family services have been held.
Carol was born on May 28, 1916 in Haxtun, Colorado to Crawford and Maude (Taylor) Clark. She grew up in Brawley, California and attended college in Pasadena. Carol married Donald Stuart McIntyre, Sr. in Pasadena where they raised their two children for many years.
The family moved to Van Nuys, CA in 1953 and later moved to Sunnyvale, CA in 1963. Carol was active in the LDS church there. She also sang in the Palo Alto Stake Choir for many years. In 1994, she moved to Sandpoint to be closer to her daughter.
Carol had a wonderful sense of humor, she enjoyed music and gardening. As a young woman she was gifted at playing the violin and piano.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn McIntyre of Bonner County, Idaho; granddaughter Cami (Jeff) Ward of Pocatello, Idaho; four great-granddaughters Kelsey, Naomi, Mallory, and Melody Ward. She is also survived by her niece Roxanne (Gary) Steen of PePuenta, California and sister-in-law Mariam Bates of Temple City, Arizona;
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Sr., and son Donald Stuart McIntyre, Jr.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sandpoint Ward, 602 Schweitzer Cut-off Road, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
