Richard Woodard

Richard LeRoy Woodard, 60, Pocatello, died Monday evening, July 13, 2009 at his home.

At this time no public services will be held at his request.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.

Bertha Hix

Bert (Bertha) M. Hix passed away July 15, 2009

She was born June 5th 1916 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to Madora and Lawrence Nelson.

Bert grew up in McCammon, Idaho and graduated from McCammon High School.

While in school she worked at her Aunt Marie’s restaurant in McCammon.

After graduating High School, she married Leland Lish and they had one daughter, Arlene.

They were later divorced.

She married Harold Hix in 1949 and they had one daughter, Anita.

They were married 47 years until Harold passed away in July 1996.

He preceded her in death on July 12, 1996.

Except for her early years in McCammon, Bert was a lifelong Pocatello resident where she and Harold had many friends and family.

Bert loved riding motorcycles and snowmobiles.

She especially loved fishing, hunting and camping.

She enjoyed watching game shows, shopping, tending to her flower gardens and being with her grandchildren.

Bert was known for her great sense of humor and was very quick and witty.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Nelson and wife Darlene, (McCammon); her daughter Anita (Pocatello); grand children, Cheri Schaffs, Cathy Delany and Greg Edwards (Boise) Jennifer Hall, Sean Johnson, (Chubbuck) Kris Johnson, (Idaho Falls); and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, sister, Karma Coffin, brothers Donald, David and Howard Nelson and daughter, Arlene Edwards.

Memorial Graveside services will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens at 2864 S. 5th, Pocatello, on Wednesday July 22nd 2009 at 2:00 p.m.

Family and friends are invited to the home of her granddaughter, Jennifer Hall, 875 Harold, Chubbuck, Id. after the services.

Any questions can be addressed to Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home 431 N. 15th Ave. Pocatello Id.

Bert was loved very much and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Irene Snyder

On May 21st, Irene Anderson Snyder, gently passed away in her sleep after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Born on Nov. 3rd, 1920 at the family home in Groton, South Dakota to Oscar and Louise Anderson, she grew up there before leaving for college.

In 1942 Irene was graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a Bachelor's Degree.

She married college sweetheart, Alvar “Sandy” Sandquist in September 1943 and they lived at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where daughter, Christine, was born.

While Sandy was stationed overseas Irene, her mother Louise and Christine lived in DeSmet, South Dakota where she taught high school English.

After the war, Irene and Sandy settled in Minneapolis where sons Eric and David, and daughter Ellen were born.

In 1956 Irene and her family moved to Long Beach, Calif. and then Anaheim shortly before Sandy was killed in a plane crash.

Irene received new certification in elementary education and became a 5th grade teacher.

Introduced by the university president where Sandy taught, Irene married Idaho State University Dean, Mel Schubert in December 1960 and the family moved to a new home in Pocatello, Idaho.

Irene loved Pocatello and enjoyed activities that included soaking at Lava Hot Springs, university events and world travel with Mel.

She and her children made many new friends and built a happy life in this friendly community.

Tragically, in 1970, Mel died of surgical complications and again Irene was a widow with children to care for.

As the children grew and left home, Irene found happiness with Fred Snyder and they married in 1973.

Fred died in 1977 and Irene continued living in Pocatello.

Her life was filled with friends, travel, swimming, bridge and special times with her grandchildren, Scott Twito, Andrew and Sadie Sandquist.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents Oscar Anderson and Louise Klabunde Anderson; her husband and father of her children, Alvar Sandquist; husband Mel Schubert; husband Fred Snyder; and brother Ben Anderson.

She is survived by daughter Christine Twito, Billings, Mt. and son and daughter-in-law Scott and Sammy Twito and their children Emma and Max, Billings, Mt.; son and daughter-in-law David and Stella Sandquist, Pocatello, Idaho and their children, Andrew, Los Angeles, Ca. and Sadie, New York NY.; son Eric Sandquist, Phoenix, Az; and daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Norm Morin, Smithsburg, Md; niece Mary Allsop and husband Jon, Lopez Island, Wa.; and nephew Jon Anderson and wife Janet, Groton, SD.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave. with Reverend Philip J. Meyer conducting.

The family will receive friends at the Cornelison Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday morning.

Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers you may make a contribution to the Irene Snyder Leadership Endowment at Idaho State University in care of K. C. Felt; Campus Stop 8033; Pocatello, Idaho 83209.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.

Ethel Hernandez

Ethel Hernandez, 89, Pocatello, passed away, Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2011 at a local healthcare center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, 431 North15th Ave. Pocatello.

The family will meet with friends Sunday evening, June 5th from 7-9 p.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Home.

Kaelyn Marie Bond Anderson

Kaelyn Marie Bond Anderson was born Wednesday, May 25 at 5:25 p.m. and passed away on Monday, May 30 at 2:50 p.m. in the arms of her parents.

She is survived, and will be missed, by her mother Kori Bond, father Scott Anderson, brothers Caleb and Leif Anderson, maternal grandparents Robert and Georgene Bond, paternal grandparents John and Mina Anderson, aunts Karlyn Bond, Kellie Bond, Bonnie Franklin, uncle Jamie Anderson, cousins Taylor Salmi, Whitney Wood, McKenzie Wood, and a host of extended family members throughout the United States and abroad.

It is the wishes of her family that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made in Kaelyn’s name to Brooklyn’s Playground, a playground in Pocatello equipped for special needs children.

Checks made out to Brooklyn’s Playground may be sent in care of Ruth Millward, 9716 Bighorn, Pocatello, Idaho 83204.

John Stewart

John Grant Stewart, Sr. 57, Pocatello, passed away, Friday, May 27, 2011at his home.

A brief memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., followed by an Open House to visit with family and friends from 1:15 - 3:00 p.m. in the LDS Church at 1700 West Kinghorn Road in Pocatello.

If any one wishes, memorials can be given to the National Alliance for Mental Illness, (NAMI).

Angela Crowe

Angela Kae Crowe, 42, Pocatello, passed away, Saturday, June 4, 2011 near McCammon.

She was born March 12, 1969 in Evanston, Illinois, to Larry Vaughn and Georgia Louise Caso Sant.

They were in Chicago while her father finished his Doctorate.

The family then moved back to Pocatello when Angela was one year old.

She had three younger siblings; Travis Vaughn, and maternal twins Christopher George and Courtney Georgette Sant.

She was devastated by the death of her father at the tender age of seven.

Angela attended school in Pocatello and graduated from Highland High School.

Angela loved to read. She wrote several books.

Angela loved to dance. She took flying and singing lessons. She had a beautiful voice.

Angela married Darren J. Crowe on Sept, 16 1988 in Pocatello, Idaho.

The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

They were blessed with two beautiful daughters Samantha Erin, and Kendall Paige Crowe.

Her daughters were the light in her life. You never wanted to cross mamma bear, if her children were involved.

Angela is survived by her husband, her two daughters, mother and stepfather Leon Hartless, two brothers and a sister.

She is also survived by five nephews and one niece along with numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry V. Sant and her step-father, Edward J. Berrett, and all of her grandparents.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alameda L.D.S. Stake Center, corner of Alameda and Jefferson, Pocatello with Bishop Jerry Eddie conducting.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening, June 12th from 7-9 p.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 North 15th Ave. and also at the Church from 10-10:45 a.m. on Monday morning.

Interment will follow services in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542.

Lura Belle Sloan

Lura Belle Sloan, 91, Pocatello, died Tuesday evening, July 14, 2009 at a local healthcare center.

Memorial services are tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2009, at a place and time to be announced

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.

Alden Curtis

Alden David Curtis, 65, Pocatello, died Friday morning, July 10, 2009, at a local medical center.

He was born October 23, 1943 at Pocatello, Idaho to Milon and Faun Thomas Curtis.

He attended Pocatello Public Schools and Idaho State University Vo-Tech.

Alden enjoyed bowling, riding the bus, the Dollar Store and eating at McDonald's.

He loved visiting with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as a Home Teacher and Ward Greeter for many years.

Alden lived at the Independence Home on Willard Ave. and considered the other residents his second family.

Alden is survived by 2 brothers Gary (Leah) Curtis of Pocatello; Dr. Larry (Deborah) Curtis M.D. of Rexburg, Idaho; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Bill) Reier; Brian Curtis, Jared (Julie) Curtis; Jacob (Jamie) Curtis; Lydia (Paul) Beck; Joshua Curtis; Aaron (Lindsay) Curtis; Rachel (Corban) Lindsay; Shawna (Brian) Hayes; Benjamin Wigington, Alex Wigington and 13 loving great Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Tracy Wigington

Services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 1100 a.m. in the Alameda L.D.S. Stake Center, corner of Alameda and Jefferson with Bishop Clint Bohney of the Alameda 6th Ward conducting.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm this evening in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 North 15th Ave and also at the Stake Center one hour prior to services.

Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
