Judy Ann Schmidgall, 61, of Clark Fork passed away on, Thursday, April 1, 2004 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Clark Fork Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with President Russ Hiatt conducting. Burial has taken place in the Pack River Cemetery.
Judy was born on July 12, 1942 in Long Beach, California to Hobert and Betty (Troutman) Jordan. She was raised by her loving grandmother Lucille Jordan. She graduated from Pomdale High School in 1960.
Judy married Donald Schmidgall and from this union 3 wonderful children were born. The couple were divorced after 13 years of marriage. Judy and her children moved to North Idaho in 1982.
Judy is best described as a noble woman full of excitement, love and compassion for all those she felt were in need. Judy was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed sewing beautiful wedding and prom dresses for her friends and family. Her favorite outdoor activity was fishing with her grandchildren. Judy is a member of the LDS church and at the time of her illness was serving as the Clark Fork Branch Relief Society President.
She is survived by her daughters Lucie (Gary) Yocom, Clark Fork; Carolyn (John) Hicks, Clark Fork; son Hobert (Nancy) Marxmiller, Newport, WA; grandchildren Jeff, Brent and Dakota Yocom; Alyssa Hicks; and Jacob Marxmiller; twin sisters Dr. Darlene McCord, Lake Tahoe, NV; and Charlene Meenan, Lake Tahoe, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hobert and Betty, and her grandmother Lucille.

Joseph William Wright, 88, passed away, Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in Sandpoint, Idaho. A memorial gathering has been held.
Joe was born on October 23, 1915 in Bradford, Pennsylvania and moved to California when he was three. Joe’s parents were Margaret (Neil) and William Ewart Wright. He grew up and attended schools in northern California. Joe graduated from Berkeley High School and apprenticed at the Mare Island Navel Shipyard in Vallejo, California from 1936 - 1940.
Joe met a beautiful young nursing student named Mary Wann on a blind date in San Francisco in 1940. Within three months they eloped and married in Reno, Nevada on March 16th. They bought their first home together in Mill Valley and began a marriage that was to last 64 years.
In the United States Navy Joe was stationed on Guam during World War II supervising the repair of ships at Apra Harbor as a Chief Warrant Officer. In 1947 he left the Navy, received his contractor’s license, and opened Wright and Sons, a heating and sheet metal business, with his father. In 1952 Joe and Mary purchased land in Novato, California to build the family home. Eight years later they opened Wright Hardware in Novato where all of the children had the opportunity to work during high school. After selling the hardware store in 1968, Joe became a Realtor and broker, working in real estate until his retirement in 1985.
Joe was a big part of the fabric of life in his community; he worked on the planning and zoning commission, the local airport commission, Rotary, and was a long time member of the Novato Horseman’s Association. He loved riding, hunting, and fishing and encouraged his children to do the same. After his retirement in 1985, Joe and Mary sold the treasured family home and moved to North Idaho to be near their children and spend more time fishing for kokanee.
Always up for adventure, Joe and Mary loved their winters traveling in the Southwest.
Springtime would find him back in Idaho to golf (Joe was a member of the local Elks Club), fish garden, and assist with his children’s various projects.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Mary Wright of Sandpoint; two sons, Bill (Leslie) Wright of Clark Fork and Jim (Irene) Wright of Sonoma, CA; one daughter Linda (Mark) Heisel of Hope; 7 grandchildren, Thomas (Nancy) McIntosh, Michael (Kaatje) Wright, Britt (Erik Perryman) Heisel, David Wright, Joe (Lora) Heisel, Matthew Wright, Eric Wright; 3 great-grandchildren, Jensen Heisel, Mathis Heisel, and Mieke Wright; and a cherished companion, his terrier, Molly. He was preceded in death by his sister Maxine Hinds and a son Richard Wright. Joe’s passion was his family and he is deeply missed.

Peter Joseph Santino, 73, passed away, Monday, March 29, 2004 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Nancy Copeland-Payton officiating.
Pete was born on May 10, 1930 in Berkeley, California to Peter and Sara Santino. He grew up and attended schools in Berkeley. In Pete’s younger days he was a professional race car driver. He married Sandra Burke on November 20, 1955 in Reno, NV.
The couple made their home in the Lake Tahoe area and worked in the Nevada Casinos. Pete worked as a bar tender at Harvey’s Casino in Lake Tahoe. In 1972, they moved to the Sandpoint area and Pete worked at Schweitzer Mountain for 13 years. He then spent a few years in Wendover, NV tending bar at the Stateline Casino. He retired in 1996 and moved back to Sandpoint.
He enjoyed taking care of his yard, spending time with his grandchildren, camping, playing cards, and gambling.
He is survived by his wife Sandy Santino of Sandpoint; sons Peter (Elva) Santino II of Sandpoint; Michael Santino of Sandpoint; daughters Kathleen (Roger) Campbell of Sagle; Sarah (David) Clark of Reno, Nevada; eight grandchildren Dacota, Joseph, and Cameron Santino; Jeramy and Matthew Campbell; David and Ahamber Clark; Jennifer Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Robert Ellwood “Bob” Deruelle, 75, passed away, Thursday, March 11, 2004 at his home near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He died with dignity and honor after a short battle with cancer. Private family services have been held.
Bob was born on July 25, 1928 in Hempfield, Pennsylvania to Ellwood and Alice Deruelle. He grew up and attended schools in Pennsylvania. In Bob’s words, “he was the village idiot.”
Bob married Edna Curry on August 3, 1946 in Mercer, PA. He worked as a mechanic all of his life. He worked for Hanford Nuclear Plant as a heavy duty mechanic, retiring to his home near Bonners Ferry in the early 1990’s. Bob was very proud of the log house that he built with his own hands.
The last 10 years of Edna’s life Bob served as her primary caregiver, refusing to leave her side. She passed away April 6, 2002. Bob always said, “When life serves you lemons, make lemonade.” He made a lot of lemonade in his lifetime.
Bob was active in the Bonners Ferry Senior Citizens. He enjoyed being on his motorcycle and tractor, working on his home, yard and property, and watching the wildlife.
He is survived by his sons Robert (Vickie) Deruelle of Diamond Springs, California; Bruce (Marty) Deruelle of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters Cynthia (Larry) Bauman of Lakeport, Californa; Robin (Greg) Hefele of Dunbarton, New Hampshire; 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Edna, and two sisters.

Rita Marie LaBuda, 78, passed away, Wednesday, March 3, 2004 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mrs. LaBuda will be interred next to her husband Frank in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
Rita was born on August 7, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Adeline Roehr. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago, and then went to work for Continental Insurance as a secretary.
Rita married Frank J. LaBuda on November 27, 1947. The couple moved to Coeur d’ Alene in 1985 to retire.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene.
She is survived by her two sons, Frank (Michaeline) LaBuda of Joilet, Illinois; Mark S. LaBuda of Troy, Ohio; daughter Renee Kinloch of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; 5 grandchildren Naidene and Frank Boer; and Caryn, Danielle, and Madison LaBuda; brother-in-law Leonard (Delores) LaBuda of Orland Park, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank, and grandson Zachary LaBuda.

Dori Martha Stricklan, 64, passed away Friday, February 27, 2004 in Sagle, Idaho with her husband and family beside her.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint with Pastor Barry Johnson of the New Song Bible Church officiating.
Dori was born on February 1, 1940 in Vester, Kentucky to Russell and Lucy Burton. She grew up in Columbia, Kentucky. She later moved to California and lived in San Francisco, Calaveras County, and Lake Tahoe. During her time in California, Dori worked as a model, owned her own pizza parlor and bar, and in the offices of Pittsburgh Paint and Glass.
In 1996, she moved to Salmon, Idaho, where she worked for Twin Peaks Guest Ranch. This is also where she met her husband, John. The couple moved to the Sandpoint area a year later and were married at the Church of the Wildwoods in May, 1999. John and Dori owned and managed the C & R Grocery Store in Garfield Bay, where they also lived. John always said that Dori was the best gift he ever received and made his life complete.
Dori was a "people person". People were naturally drawn to her, and her door was open to one and all. Her generosity and big heart meant that she also had many other "children" who, though not hers by birth, came to call her "mom" as if they were her own.
Dori was a special mother and friend. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed fishing, camping and anything to do with the water.
She is survived by her husband John Stricklan of Sagle; son Russell Grubbs of Jacksonville, Florida; daughters Pamela (Frank) Muschalek of Mt. Ranch, California; Tammy Cody of Jeffersonville, Indiana; Michelle Severin, San Francisco, California; Debra Severin and Mick Sylvester also of San Francisco; and Mary (Lloyd) Steinhoff of Moke Hill, California. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Maxine (Bill) Hicks of Seal Beach, California; Terri (John) Franklin, of Louisville, Kentucky; and Lyn (Louis) Overton of Sacramento, California; brothers Kenny (Michelle) Burton of Louisville, Kentucky; and Lindon Burton of Webster, New York also survive her. She also leaves behind special friend Connie Pell of Athol, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers C.G. and James Burton, 2 sisters Christine Green and Ernie Van Scyoc.
