ALBERTA LEONA MORGAN
Zeigler - Alberta Leona Morgan, 87, Zeigler, died at 6:28 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at her home.
Leona was born April 29, 1915, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Albert Lynn and Agnes Chloe (Pallissero) Marks.
She married Luther Morgan. He preceded her in death March 1, 1977.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Casey of Zeigler; Margie and Jerry Bacon of Christopher; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Noel and Valeta Morgan, Leon Morgan, Monty and Sharon Morgan all of Zeigler and Tony and Doris Morgan of Winona, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Marks of Royalton and Lonnie Marks of Cambria and a sister, Doris Tipolt of Drayton Plaines, Mich.
Her parents, two sons, an infant, Danny Dale Mogan, Luther Earle Morgan and four brothers, Roy, Bert, Nicholas and Jack Marks also preceded her in death.
Leona was a member of the Zeigler First Christian Church where she was the church organist for many years and had been the pianist for the Church of Christ at Orient for the last few years. She was also a member of the Zeigler Eastern Star and played in the Zeigler Senior Citizen's Kitchen Band.
Funeral services for Mrs. Morgan will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with Brother Larry Hallman officiating. Burial will be at Zeigler Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 6 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Morgan can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc. and will be accepted at the funeral home.
MARTHA JANE DIMITROFF
Du Quoin - Martha Jane Dimitroff, 54, died Friday, April 4, 2003 in Du Quoin.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Silas Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.O.F. Cemetery, in Du Quoin. Visitation will be Sunday evening at the funeral home, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Monday from 7:30 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Dimitroff was born in Sesser on March 1, 1949, the daughter of William "Bill" and Clara "Mae" (Stockton) Isenhart. She married Jim Dimitroff on April 1, 1991 in Du Quoin.
Jane was a teacher for 28 years at Sesser-Valier District 196. She received her master's degree from Rockford College in 2000. She was active in the Du Quoin JC's and was attending John A. Logan College.
Survivors include her husband Jim Dimitroff of Du Quoin; three daughters, twins Ashley and Andrea of Du Quoin, Michelle of Murray, Ky.; two sisters, Chloe Ann Dulaney and her husband Ed of Waltonville, Irma Dean Lance and her husband Roy of Sesser; brother-in-law, Johnny Dimitroff of Du Quoin; sister-in-law Shirley Scott of Elkville; nieces, Amber Boyster, Malinda Dulaney, Donna White and Pat Swan and nephews, Shannon Dimitroff and Clayton Dulaney.
Mrs. Dimitroff was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew.
A memorial fund will be set up in the form of a scholarship for her two daughters Andrea and Ashley.
NOLEN LEONARD DILLON
Grand Rapids, Mich. - Nolen Leonard Dillon, 60, died on March 4, 2003 in Michigan.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1942, the son of Levern and Geraldine (Darnell) Dillon.
Mr. Dillon is survived by three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and by his mother, Geraldine Dillon Bolen.
Memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton with Pastor Rod Joplin officiating.
Morton and Johnston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
VIRGIL CARL ISAACS
Thompsonville - Virgil Carl Isaacs, 86, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at 3 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion. He was born Aug. 2, 1916, in Orient, to John Isaacs and Willie (Smith) Isaacs.
He was married to Alma (Smith) Isaacs and she preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1986.
Survivors include his children, Betty and Bill Stanley of West Frankfort; Marge Bennett of West Frankfort, Virgil (Butch) and Bernice Isaacs of West Frankfort; Phyllis and Bill Parks of Thompsoville; Johnny and Susan Isaacs of Thompsonville; Brenda and Tom Flannigan of Indianapolis, Ind.; Linda and Steve Kelley of Benton; Ruth Ann Smith of Thompsonville; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two brothers, Bobby Gene Isaacs of Waterloo and Larry Isaacs of Thompsonville and a sister, Dorothy Dziadus of Villa Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin sons, granddaughter, Ina Stanley, six brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Isaacs was a veteran of World war II, a member of the Akin Masonic Lodge 749 AF-AM and a member of the American Legion Post 1194 of Thompsonville.
He was a retired railroader and laborer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002 at 1 p.m. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home, West Frankfort, with the Rev. David Schlag officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Thompsonville.
Masonic rites will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home by Akin Lodge 749 and military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 1194 of Thompsonville.
WILMA JENKINS
Christopher - Wilma Jenkins, 89, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, in Franklin Hospital, Benton.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the Maple Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to meet at the Cemetery. The Gilbert Funeral Home of Christopher is in charge of arrangements.
Wilma was born on Sept. 1, 1913, the daughter of John and Martha (Hicks) Rowark.
She was a retired owner of a restaurant in Christopher.
Survivors include two nieces, Roxie and husband Bill Shresbury of Germantown Tenn., Billie and husband Max Stucker of Energy; several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
MAURICE A. WILLIAMS
Benton - Maurice A. Williams, 59, died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the Herrin Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.
ALINE OWENS
Ina - Aline Owens, 85, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ron Storey in Whittington.
Services will be held at 10 a. m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, with the Rev. Brad Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery, Ina. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to the funeral home.
Aline was born in Franklin County on Aug. 31, 1917, the daughter of Ernest Eaton and Drusia Jane (Kelley) Eaton. On Dec. 21, 1946, she married Albert R. Owens. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1998.
Mrs. Owens was a teacher at Mulberry Grove School and Oakdale School and a cook at the Mt. Vernon High School. She served as Deputy Treasurer of Jefferson County for 8 years and retired from that position.
She was a member of the Ina Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Lloyd Owens and wife Gloria of Ina; a daughter, Betty Storey and husband Ron of Whittington; four grandchildren, Tammy Jones and husband Andy of Whittington, Maryann Waters and husband Danny of Bonnie, Mark Owens of Ina, Ashley Owens of Ina; stepgrandson, Ryan Storey of Birmingham, Ala; three great-granddaughters, Sierra Jones, Alexis Jones and Madison Waters; brother, Everett "Bud" Pierce and wife Mary of Ina; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by two brothers, James Hawkins and Fred Hawkins.
WANDA L. YOUNG
Christopher - Wanda L. Young, 76, formerly of Elgin, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Benton Health Care Center, Benton.
She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Elgin, the daughter of James Lee and Jennie Lynn (Kible) Stewart.
Wanda had worked at Hoffer Plastics in South Elgin for many years before retirement.
She is survived by three children, Dennis (Irene) Stewart of Elgin, Linda (Frank) Arnold of Sesser and James (Carol) Young Sr. of Elgin; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Noel of South Elgin and a brother, Melvin (Marlene) Stewart of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, grandsons, Rodney Bailey and James Young Jr, five sisters, Eithel Reddersdorf, Myrtle Young, Burley Simpson, Jennie Mae Stewart, and Hazel Reed.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1111 Van St., Elgin, 60123. There will be no local services or visitation. Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, Sesser, is in charge of local arrangements.
BILLIE JEAN GILBREATH
Sesser - Billie Jean Gilbreath, 51, died at 1:43 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2003, in the E.R. of Franklin Hospital, Benton.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Valier, with Brother John West officiating. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 8. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gilbreath was born on Oct. 25, 1951, in Christopher, the daughter of William E. McClellan and Velma Modena (Brayfield) McClellan. She was married on July 10, 1967, to William Edward Gilbreath Jr. and he survives.
She was a member of the Rend City Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband William, she is survived by a daughter, Janet Sue Gilbreath, Sesser; mother-in-law, Nina Dorris Gilbreath, father-in-law, William Gilbreath; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; brothers and sisters, Suella and Jim Cox, Sesser, Patti and Bob Utley, Sesser, Bertha Mae Fredrickson, Fla., William E. and Joy McClellan, Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Gilbreath was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Will Gilbreath, one son, William was stillborn, and one sister, Vicki Ashment.
John K. Motsinger
Christopher - John K. Motsinger, 81, died at 4 p.m. on April 5, 2003, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. There will be no visitation. The Gilbert Funeral Home Christopher, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Motsinger was born on March 15, 1922, in Mulkeytown, the son of George and Bertha (Rude) Motsinger.
He was married on March 20, 1942, to the former Mae M. Barlow. She survives.
He was a retired truck driver and an Army veteran of World War II.
He worked for three and one half years in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy; the Atomic Lab in Bolder, Col. and at dams in Colorado and New Mexico.
In addition to his wife, Mae Motsinger, he is survived by brothers and sisters, Virgil and James Clyde Motsinger of Mulkeytown, Edward and Charles Motsinger of Tillamook, Or. Bill Motsinger of Chicago, sister, Aslee McGuire of Mulkeytown.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Louie Motsinger and three sisters, Alice Bacon, Ruby Dungreau and Dorothy Motsinger.
