JOYCE L. THREEWITT

Sesser - Joyce L. Threewitt, 68, died at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at the Heartland Regional Center, Marion.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, in the Poulson Funeral Home, Benton. Burial willl be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday to the funeral home.

Mrs. Threewitt was born on Jan. 13,1935, in Logan, the daughter of John and Mary (Spain) Mocaby.

She was married to Robert Threewitt, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker who loved her grandchildren, family gatherings, yard sales and antiquing.

Survivors include four sons, Bob and wife Regina Threewitt of Sesser, Richard and wife Rose Threewitt of Christopher, Charlie and wife Mary Jean Threewitt, Sesser, Ronnie and wife Stephanie Threewitt, Herrin; five daughters, Geraldine and husband Kenny Stegall, Sesser, Diane Huie, Herrin, Debbie and husband David Loucks, Herrin, Mary and husband Randy Edwards, Christopher, Karen Threewitt and fiance Craig Cox, Herrin; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert and wife Louetta Mocaby, Waltonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Carolyn Darnell, one brother, Claude Mocaby, and two sisters, Nettie Webber and Sophia Summers.

DAISY 'DEE' ROBERSON

Benton - Daisy "Dee" Roberson, 87, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at the Benton Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benon, with the Rev. Tony Auxier officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home at any time.

She was born in Benton, on April 8, 1916, the daughter of Arlie and Mae (Galhausen) Webb.

She was married to Daughton Shipp, and later married Irvin Roberson.

Mrs. Roberson was retired as a nurses aide from the St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. She was a member of the North Benton Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Shipp and wife Yvonne of Benton, and Rodney Shipp and wife Janet of Jacob; daughter-in-law, Carole Shipp of Benton; stepson, Orval Ray Roberson and wife Thelma of Park Forest; sister, Millie Manhke and husband Walt of Steger; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son, Larry Shipp, granddaughter, Rhonda Shipp, three sisters and four brothers.

BETTY HIRST

Formerly Franklin County - Betty Hirst, a former Franklin County resident, died Saturday evening, Set. 13, 2003, at the King-Bruwaert Retirement Center in Burr Ridge.

Funeral services will be held a 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Morton & Jhnston Funeral Home in Benton, with Pastor John Neace officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, to the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Hirst's memory, in lieu of flowers, to the King-Bruwaert Retirement Center, 6101 South County Line Road, Burr Ridge, IL 60527.

She was born in Franklin County on Aug. 25, 1919, the daughter of Jaspher and Eunice (Reisner) Cypher.

She was married to Lloyd Miller. She later married Edward Hirst.

Mrs. Hirst was a retired librarian and a member of the First Church of God in Benton.

Survivors include one son, Hal Miller and wife Janice of Hinsdale; three stepdaughters, Shirley Talley, Gloria Botta and Sherri Cloud; one sister, Mary Barton of Benton; and two brothers, Jaspher Cypher of Whittington, George Cypher of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother, Lee Cypher and one sister, Jessie Bays.

CHARLIE JUNIOR McPHERSON

Christopher - Charlie Junior McPherson, 48, of Christopher died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at his home.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, officiated by Brother Bob Winnieger. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellow Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service on Thursday.

Mr. McPherson was born Aug. 11, 1955, in Bragshaw, W. Va., the son of Charlie Lee and Virginia (Kennedy) McPherson. He was married to Virgi (Bennett) McPherson, and she survives, as does his mother.

Mr. McPherson was a member of the Church of God in Christopher.

Also surviving are his children, Luther Wayne McPherson, Angela Rose and Josh McPherson, all of Omaha, Scott Vogel of Quincy, Christy Vogel of Bloomington and Cherish Masters of Ft. Meade, Md.; grandchildren, Brianna and Brandon McPherson; and siblings, Luther McPherson of Beckemeyer, Wayne McPherson of Benton, Charlottia Fielder of McLeansboro, Earlene Frye of Christopher, Violet Bell of Christopher, Eva McPherson of Norris City, Frankie McPherson of Cookville, Tenn., James McPherson of Altoona, Pa., Richard McPherson of Benton, Judy Moss of Caryle and Lillie Giroux of Benton.

BRUNO PERJENSKI

Sesser - Bruno Perjenski, 88, dies at 6:30 a.m. Set. 12, 2003 at his home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sesser, with Father Steven Poole officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15 at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home.

Mr. Perjenski was born May 26, 1915 in Clifford, Ill., the son of Pete and Mary Perjenski. He married Mary Gerdgen Perjenski on Feb. 15, 1947 and she survives.

He was a coal miner.

Mr. Perjenski was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sesser. He was also a member of the Sesser VFW, American Legion and UMWA Local No. 9905.

He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his children Ron and wife Donna Perjenski, Mt. Vernon and Tom and wife Shirley Perjenski, Waltonville; five grandchildren Stephanie Clarke and husband Max, Tara Perjenski, Amanda Perjenski, Amanda Dycus, Ellen Strothmann and husband Matt; three great-grandchildren Madison, Austin and Lilly; one brother Chester Perjenski, Affton, Mo. and one brother-in-law Anthony Gerdgen, Sesser.

JOSEPHINE EOVALDI

Benton - Josephine Eovaldi, 90, of Benton died at noon Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at the Herrin Hospital.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton, with Father Joseph Trapp officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.

Miss Eovaldi was born on Jan. 26, 1913, the daughter of Joseph F. and Jennie (Borrona) Eovaldi.

Miss Eovaldi was a court reporter. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton. Also, she was a member of the Benton Business and Professional Women's Club, and past president of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by four brothers, Benedict, Bill, Joe and Louis, and by three sisters, Jennie, Katie and Louise.

DAVID L. HAM

West Frankfort - David L. Ham, 71, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home, Christopher, with the Rev. Dale Carson officiating. Friends may call after 10 a. m. on Wednesday to the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Shriners and will be accepted at the funeral home.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1931, in Granite City, to Leonard S. Ham and Mildred (Lewis) Ham. They preceded him in death.

He is survived by three daughters, Becky Wade and husband Steve of Creal Springs; Ronda Murphy and husband Brad of Carterville; and Rosemary Bourland and husband Jack of Yuma, Az.; three sons, Raymond David Ham and wife, Linda of Azusa, Cal; David Ham Jr. of Collinsville and Ron Ham and wife, Lisa of Plant City, Fla. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny Ham of Boulder, Colo. and a special friend, Delores Oyler of Benton.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Benton.

WILLIAM J. WILSON

Herrin - William J. Wilson, 57, died at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home, Sesser.

Mr. Wilson was born on Dec. 10, 1945, in Chicago, the son of Floyd and Lucy (Morales) Wilson.

He is survived by three children, Michael Wilson of Mt. Carmel; Paula Jones of Sesser; and Richard Wright of West Frankfort.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Wright.

He is also survived by Lana Wilson.

KAREN SPANOS

Benton - Karen Spanos, 51, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, in the Franklin Hospital, Benton.

Arrangements will be under the care of the Poulson Funeral Home, Benton.

KENNETH D. HOLLEY

Mulkeytown - Kenneth D. Holley, 63, died on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, in the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, in the Mulkeytown Cemetery. Friends are asked to meet at the Cemetery. The Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holley was born on Nov. 12, 1939, in Draftonville, Ky., the son of Floy and Lottie (Bloodworth) Holley. He married Marie (Neeley) Holley.

Survivors include his wife Marie; four daughters, Sherry Kinsell of Tamaroa, Jennifer Holley of Scott City, Mo., Sheila Holley of Memphis, Tenn., and Donna Aldridge of Elkville; a son, Lee Holley of Elkville; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lugene Tubbs, Doris Anderson, Patsy Downing and Linda Stevenson, all of Ky.; and one brother, Rudy Holley, of Boonville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and two granddaughters.

STEVEN KENT ROSS

West Frankfort - Steven Kent Ross, 46, died at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

He was born July 12, 1957, in Benton, the son of John Wendell "Salty" Ross and Mary Alice (Gwyn) Ross.

Mr. Ross attended the Christian Worship Center in West Frankfort, and had been a commercial truck driver for Cox Trucking in Murphysboro and Donald Orr Trucking of West Frankfort.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Toedy Holley-Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. on Friday to the funeral home. Memorials may be made o the Christian Worship Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Alice Lawrence of West Frankfort; two sisters, Jill Shelby and husband Robert of West Frankfort, Lynn Lamb and husband James Earl of St. Charles, Mo; a brother, Gary Ross of Benton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.
