James V. Gunter Jr.
Funeral services for James V. Gunter Jr., 51, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Wait-RossAllanson Funeral Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin.
Born July 16, 1947, in Geneseo, Ill., he died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Gunter was a member of the Rolling Knolls Worm-Burners Golf League and numerous professional organizations. He was a teacher for the Illinois Center of Rehabilitation and Education in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy McFarland Gunter; mother, Marjorie Gunter Catour; sister, Diane (Richard) McMullen; stepbrothers, Dan Catour, David (Vicki) Catour of Orion, Ill., Dennis (Anna) Catour of Moline, Don (Jackie) Catour of Green Rock, Ill., Rick (Virginia) Catour of Milian, Ill., John (Sooji) Catour of Cambridge, Ill. and Robert Catour of Osco, Ill.; stepsisters, Barbie (Tom) Carrol of Green Rock, Janet (Richard) Nobel of Cambridge, Ill., Judy Langston of Alpha, Ill. and Mary (Howard) Noaks of Silvis, Ill.; father- and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McFarland; and two brothers-in-law, Norman (Jan) McFarland and Roger (Carol Schmidt) McFarland.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral chapel.

John H. Haitermann of Mundelein
Services and interment for John H. Haitermann, 68, will be private.
Born Aug. 13, 1930, Highland Park, he passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Northbrook.
A veteran of the Marines, Mr. Haitermann served during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #1247 of Vernon Township.
He retired in 1996 from National Canine Company in Northbrook.
He leaves his children, Patti Roberts of Northbrook, Dawn Bell of Kenosha, Wis., Diane (Jeff) Pennington of Gurnee, Leslie (Dimitrios) Kostakis of Holiday, Fla. and Michael (Tami) Haltermann of Deerfield; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his sisters, Ann (George) Soefker and Shirley Evers, all of Mission, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry (Anne) Halterman and his brother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake.

Eleanor A. Hinrichs of Elgin
Private family services for Eleanor A. Hinrichs, 79, will be held Monday. The Rev. Harold Rose will officiate.
Born Jan. 13, 1920, in Addison, the daughter of Fredrick and Amanda (nee Klipp) Beckmann, she died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Sherman Hospital.
Burial will be in East Dundee Township Cemetery.
Mrs. Hinrichs was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (John) Stickling of Elgin; grandson, Billy Menz of Austin, Texas; granddaughters, Michelle (James) Gissey of Elgin, Tammy (James) Vandermay of Glendale Heights and Trisha Stickling of Elgin; great-grandson, Brandon Giesey of Elgin; brothers, Harold(Virginia) Beckmann of Central City, Ky. and Kenneth (Carol) Beckmann of Arlington Heights; sisters, Florence Brady of Arlington Heights, Lorraine (Al) Wendland of Elmhurst, Viola (Wally) Vlasak of Bartlett and Dorothy (Lou) Donovan of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Hinrichs, in 1987; and brother, Vernon Beckmann.
Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin.

June A. Houk of Elgin
Services for June A. Houk, 58, will be held at 4 p.m. today, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin.
Born Oct. 31, 1940, in Pebbles, Ohio, the daughter of Clifford and Mabel Chenoweth, she died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital. Burial will be private.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynn (Mike) Sadlowski of Washington, Karen (Dale) Koseck of Streamwood and Lori (Joel) Dineen of Wheeling; sixgrandchildren; and mother, Mabel Chenoweth of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services today, at the funeral home.

Josephine R. Janik of McHenry
A funeral Mass for Josephine R. Janik, 79, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Church of St. Mary, 1401 N. Richmond Road, McHenry.
Born July 25, 1919, in Chicago, to Andrew and Angeline (nee Dembinski) Partyka, she died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at the Care Centre of Wauconda. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Formerly of Chicago, Mrs. Janik was a resident of Holiday Hills for 27 years and later moved to the Whispering Oaks subdivision in McHenry, where she lived for 16 years. Prior to retiring, she was employed by Brake Parts for 12 years. Mrs. Janik was a member of Church of St. Mary in McHenry.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Janik; children, Michael (Debra) Janik of Wauconda, Thomas (Sarah) Janik of Johnsburg and Linda (Robert) Kalas Jr. of McHenry; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rachel and Lauren Janik, Josh, Ben and Jamie Janik, and Jodi, Missy and Becky Kalas; sisters, Joan (the late Irving) Laskowski of McHenry and Adele (Dave) Lisi of Cary; and sister-inlaw, Lorraine (the late Richard) Andrews of Mount Prospect.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Janik; brother, Tony Partyka; and sister, Stella Keller.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, 3519 W. Elm St., McHenry.

Mark J. Janky Jr. of Batavia
Prayers for Mark J. Janky Jr., 6 months, will be said at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Batavia. Rev. David Huber will officiate.
Born July 29, 1998, in Oak Lawn, the son of Mark J. Sr. and Marcel `Marcy' A. (nee Goryl) Janky, he died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at the Hope Children's Hospital/Heart Institute in Oak Lawn, Ill.
Interment will be in West Batavia Cemetery, Batavia.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Marissa and Maranda Janky; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Elaine Janky of Plainfield; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Gergits of Palos Heights; aunts, Pam (John) Hardy of Wausaukee, Wis. and Doreen (Mike) Shankel of Monee; and uncle, Dave (Flor) Janky of Glendale Heights.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter `Barts' and Rosemarie Goryl; and uncle, Michael Janky.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home, with a liturgical wake service at 7 p.m.

Jane F. Kedzior of South Elgin
Memorial visitation for Jane F. Kedzior, 82, formerly of Schaumburg for 12 years, will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee.
Born Oct. 28, 1916, in East Orange, N. J., the daughter of John and Irene Landsberg Prost, she died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Carrington Care Center in South Elgin. Private interment will be in St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown, Wis.
A former many-year resident of Watertown, she is survived by her son, John (Mary Jeanne) Kedzior of Sleepy Hollow; and sister, Alice Kempthorne of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kedzior in 1978.

Margaret M. Kubala formerly of Round Lake Beach
Services for Margaret M. Kubala (nee Radke), 85, of Friendship, Wis., will be held at noon today, at Windridge Memorial Park Chapel, 7014 S. Rawson Bridge Rd., Cary. Pastor Roger Schneider of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry, will officiate.
Born June 10, 1913, in Queensland, Australia, she died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Friendship. Interment will follow.
A homemaker, she was a resident of Adams County Nursing Home.
She was the wife of the late Stephen F. Kubala; mother of Thomas (Barbara) Kubala of Arlington Heights, John (Doreen) of Jandowae, Australia, Beverly (John) Kohlmeyer of Friendship, Margaret Fraser of Jandowae and the late Lynnette Burza; grandmother of 13; great-grandmother of seven; aunt of many loving nieces and nephews; and sister of three late brothers in Australia.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services today, at the cemetery chapel.

Margaret Mary Laws of Arlington Heights
Services for Margaret Mary Laws (nee Mann), 67, will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and continue with Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Theresa Church, 467 N. Benton, Palatine.
Born Sept. 16, 1931, in Chicago, she died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at home. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
Mrs. Laws hadworked for many years at the Sears store in Golf Mill Shopping Center. Upon leaving there, she and her husband, Charles, opened Protection, Inc., in Niles. Mrs. Laws was a 1949 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a 1953 graduate of Northwestern University where she had the distinction of being crowned Centennial Queen at Abbot Hall by TonyBennett.
Mrs. Laws fought a courageous fiveyear battle against ovarian cancer with the help of God, family, doctors and friends.
She was the beloved wife of Charles Laws; cherished mother of Shawn, Lorrie and Paul Davis; dear stepmother of Charles, Timothy (Lola) and Kimberly (Gil) Garduno; proud and loving grandmother of Anthony, Allana andMargaret; and devoted daughter of the late Leslie F. and Lorretta (nee Hogan) Mann.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Kathleen Lingen of Des Plaines
Services for Kathleen Lingen (nee Winegarden), 71, formerly of South Dakota and Minnesota, will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights. She will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Born July 6, 1927, in Waupaca, Wis., she died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999.
Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Turtle River, Minn.
She was a member of New Beginnings and Steven Ministries.
She was the wife of the late Gerhard; mother of Gary (Michele), Alice (Jim) Bradway, Eileen Lingen, RuthLingen (Richard Gray), Mary (Steve) Holmes, Grace Lingen (Shawn Cady); sister of Tom (Erla Mae) Larson and Vernon (Andrea) Larson; and grandmother of 13.

James `Harry' Matson of North Chicago
Visitation for James `Harry' Matson, 73, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, at Salata Funeral Chapel, 14th and Park, North Chicago.
Born Feb. 19, 1925, to James and Tyra Matson, he passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at home. Interment will be in North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Matson had worked as a machinist for 41 years at V. R. Wesson of Waukegan. Harry was known locally in the 1980s for raising exotic birds, and internationally in the 1950s to the 1970sfor raising tropical fish. He was a lifetime honorary member of the Milwaukee Aquarium Sociey and also a member ofthe Loyal Order of the Moose #706 in Waukegan, where he met his wife, Anne.
He is survived by his family, including his loving wife, Anne (nee JonesCacioppo); son, Larry (Mary) Matson of Third Lake; daughters, Lynn (Jim) Cacioppo of Antioch, Lonna (Charlie) Douglas of Winthrop Harbor and Leslie (Jeff) Stanley of Zion; stepchildren, Mike Cacioppo of Zion and Joann (Joe) Ciolek of Antioch; sisters, Joyce (Harvey) Hunley and Jeanette (Ace) Arciaga; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean (Ertice) Dixon, Joan (Wilber) Yonts and Judy (George) Yanovich For information, (847) 244-1155.
