Gloria S. Lego formerly of Chicago
Services for Gloria S. Lego, 75, of LaCrosse, Wis., will begin at 9:30 a.m. from Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, going to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.
The Rev. Stephen St. Jules will officiate.
Born Feb. 21, 1923, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to Charles B. and Evelyn E. (nee Marine) Wagner, she passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at her son's home in Batavia.
Interment will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, in St. Joseph cemetery, River Grove.
Mrs. Lego was a graduate of St. Vincent DePaul Nursing School in Virginia and had served in the Army Nursing Corps as a registered nurse.
She met her husband, Anthony W. Lego, at the Valley Forge Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was a patient. They were united in marriage Aug. 24, 1946, at St. Joseph Carmelite Church in Fort Leavenworth.
Mrs. Lego was an active church member and choir member throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, volunteer work, and spending special times with her beloved family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Anthony W. (Linda) Lego Jr., Catherine Lego and Thomas (Renee) Lego; grandchildren, John, Candice, Sandra, Jennifer, Laura Beth, Chanel, Robyn, Nicholas and Brianna; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Tyler, Alana and Nora; and brother, Charles B. (Louise) Wagner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony William Lego Sr.; daughter, Nancy Susan Miller; and son, Timothy Charles Lego.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, where a liturgical wake service will be held at 5 p.m.

Pamela Rae Lindstrom of Naperville
A memorial service for Pamela Rae Lindstrom, MS, OTR/L, 46, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Community United Methodist Church, 20 Center St., Naperville.
She passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, after a brief battle with cancer.
Pam was an occupational therapist employed by Marianjoy InterRehab in Naperville and Wheaton.
She is survived by her devoted husband, George Kosiara; mother, Violet Gambrel; sister, Debra Lindstrom-Hazel; brother, Don Lindstrom; stepsister, Linda Hart; stepbrothers, Roger and Paul Gambrel; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Alan E. Martin formerly of Wheeling
Services for Alan E. Martin, 68, recently of Tucson, Ariz., will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, at Kristan Funeral Home, P. C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176), Mundelein.
Mr. Martin died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998.
He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He was married
for 45 years to his loving wife, Patricia (nee Murray); and was the cherished father of Sharon (Bruce) Holly, Sue Tendering and Sandy (Ron) Lawrence; dear grandfather of Jennifer (Jared) Pendry, Jacqueline (Rich) Smith, Kim Coleman, Katie Bodie, Heather and Robert Huey, Alan and Erin Nicholas; and fond great-grandfather of Victoria, Carlton and Elaine Pendry and Meghan Smith. He is also survived by his mother, Freeda Martin of Bradenton, Fla.; brothers, Charles and Neil (Fran); sister, Lois (Elwood) Price; sisters-in-law, Dorthy (Herb) Lortz and Judith Pickering; and many nieces and nephews.

Norman C. Metz of Oakbrook Terrace
Norman C. Metz, senior vice president at DeVry Inc., died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Vencor Hospital, following a long illness. He was 50.
Mr. Metz joined DeVry Institutes in 1983 as vice president of marketing and sales for Bell & Howell's Education Group. He subsequently assumed the responsibilities of the management of all U. S. and Canadian DeVry Institutes. Following the 1987 purchase of DeVry Institutes by Keller Graduate School of Management, Mr. Metz was instrumental in the transition from Bell & Howell Education Group to the new DeVry Inc.
Before joining DeVry, Mr. Metz was senior vice president of marketing and planning for DelMarco Corporation at Marco Island, Fla.; brand manager at Coca-Cola Foods in Houston, Texas; assistant brand manager at Proctor & Gamble Company's Package Soap and Detergent division in Cincinnati; and a technical staff member at Bell Telephone Laboratories in North Andover, Mass.
Mr. Metz received his bachelor of science degrees in both electrical engineering and physics from the University of California at Davis, and his master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie S. Rucks and their daughter, Alexa; and four brothers and three sisters, Barney Metz of Aiea, Hawaii, Gary Beversdorf of Reno, Nev., Dean Metz of Midwest City, Okla., Wayne Metz of North Carolina, Pamela McQuat of Hilo, Hawaii, Lynn Brillantes of Redwood City, Calif. and Susan Lundquist of Woodlawn, Calif.
A memorial service will be held today, at the Northbrook Hilton, 2855 N. Milwaukee Ave., in Northbrook, at 6:30 p.m.

Edna M. Rafferty of Lake Zurich

Born Aug. 24, 1907, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Sarah King McCauley, she passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, in Lake Zurich. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel cemetery, Palatine.
Mrs. Rafferty was employed as a clerk for the Chicago Board of Education.
Survivors include her children, Catherine Rafferty of Chicago, Lawrence (Patricia) Rafferty of Moline, Robert (Eileen) Rafferty of North Barrington and John (Carol) Rafferty of GreenBay, Wis.; sister, Sara Griffin of Chicago; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Elmine E. Heath Rudowsky of Geneva
Private funeral services for Elmine E. Heath Rudowsky, 86, were held at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St., Geneva.
Born Sept. 18, 1912, in Geneva, the daughter of Ernest and Signe Anderson, she passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at her residence. Burial is in River Hills cemetery, Batavia.
Elmine had worked for Roto Color in St. Charles for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Anna (George) Evanovich of Batavia, Betty (Clayton) Davis of Geneva, Dorothy Powell of Indiana and Barbara Furlone of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Audrey Heath of St. Charles; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister; son, Donald Heath; and husband, Robert Rudowsky, who passed away July 20, 1998.

Gerald A. Spry formerly of Arlington Heights
Services for Gerald A. Spry, 76, of Hayward, Wis., will be held at noon Thursday, at Lauterburg and Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights.
Born Sept. 4, 1922, in Warren, Ohio, he died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, in Hayward.

Retired in 1961 from the Navy, he served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
He was the husband of Lorraine M. (nee Mares); father of Ronald G. Spry of Green Bay, Wis., Donald L. (Judy) Spry of Barrington Hills and Darlene L. (Daniel) Rohlfing of Richmond, Calif.; brother of the late Wayne T. Spry; grandfather of six; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Karl David Steinbrock of Naperville

Born Dec. 13, 1958, in Aurora, he died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be private.
A lifelong resident of Naperville, he had worked as a carpenter and master craftsman for Frederickson Builders in Naperville for the past 10 years. He was an avid cyclist, fisherman and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was an extremely devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Steinbock of Naperville; sisters, Mimi (Bill) Hankes of Batavia, Carol Steinbrock of Chicago and Gretchen Denny of Naperville; brother, Kurt Steinbrock of Richmond, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Jennifer Hankes of Nashville, Tenn., Peter Hankes of Orlando, Fla., Sam and Ben Hankes both of Batavia, Laura Denny of Naperville, Katherine Steinbrock of Richmond, Va. and Michael Weingand of Springfield, Ill.

William G. Thien formerly of Palatine
Services for William G. Thien, 57, of Wildwood, Mo. (St. Louis), will be held at 1 p.m. today, at the First Evangelical Free Church, 1375 Carman Rd., Manchester, Mo.
Born Sept. 16, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., he died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, in St. Louis. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery, Pond, Mo.
Employed for 18 years with the Walgreen Corp. in Deerfield, he held several positions and retired in 1997, as vice president of health services. He was on the board of directors for Epilepsy Services of Northeastern Illinois.
He graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1955, was vice chair of the college board of trustees, and served on the board since 1990.
Mr. Thien was recently given the distinguished alumni award for his service to the profession.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Thien (nee Baum); daughters, Kathy (John) Schrader of St. Louis and Lynn (Barry) Coleman of Arlington Heights; granddaughter, Anna Lynn Schrader; brothers, Charles (Annette) Thien of St. Louis and Richard (Elaine) Thien of Lincoln, Neb.; and sister, Violet Thien of St. Louis.

Helen Uss of Lisle
Funeral services for Helen Uss (nee Narovec), 87, most recently of The Devonshire, formerly of Cicero, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren, Naperville, with the Rev. Robert McWilliams officiating.
Born Aug. 18, 1911, in Chicago, she died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Forest Park.
Mrs. Uss had been a resident of Lisle since 1993. Prior to that time, while living in Cicero, she was a member of the Warren Park Presbyterian Church of Cicero, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Cicero Women's Club, where she served as president for a term.
She volunteered as a model for their annual fashion show, and participated in activities of the Berwyn-Cicero Council on Aging.
In addition, she enjoyed crafts, gardening, sewing and square dancing.
She is survived by her daughters, Madeline J. (James F. )Rowe of Naperville and Nancy (George Siscoe) Crooker of Sudbury, Mass.; grandchildren, Melora Lynn Crooker of Cambridge, Mass., Richelle M. Rowe of Naperville and Rhonda J. (Oscar) Perez of Bolingbrook; great-grandson, Antonio M. Perez of Bolingbrook; brother, George (Verna) Narovec of Appleton, Wis.; and sister-in-law, Bernice Zuperko of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, and her parents, Frank and Marie (nee Hercik) Narovec.
