Edna M. Rafferty of Lake Zurich
Prayers for Edna M. Rafferty (nee McCauley), 91, formerly of Chicago, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at Stirlen-Pieper & Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-CookRd. ), Barrington. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Community Parish Center, 120 N. Ela St., Barrington.
Born Aug. 24, 1907, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Sarah King McCauley, she passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, in Lake Zurich. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel cemetery, Palatine.
Mrs. Rafferty was employed as a clerk for the Chicago Board of Education.
Survivors include her children, Catherine Rafferty of Chicago, Lawrence (Patricia) Rafferty of Moline, Robert (Eileen) Rafferty of North Barrington and John (Carol) Rafferty of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Sara Griffin of Chicago; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Rafferty on June 30, 1992, whom she married on Oct. 23, 1937, in Chicago.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Terence R. Robinson formerly of Libertyville
Funeral services for Terence R. Robinson, most recently of Lexington, Ky., will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1380 N. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest.
Mr. Robinson was a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., and was the past president of the Kaysun Corporation in Lexington.
He is survived and greatly missed by his loving wife, Sydney M. Robinson; son, Tyler, age 10; daughter, Mikaela, age 9; father, Richard R. (Gail) Robinson; and brothers, David (Mary) and Thomas Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Robinson.

Mary Kay Keefe Schack formerly of Des Plaines and Chicago
Graveside services for Mary Kay Keefe Schack, 51, of Miami, Fla., for the past 15 years, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.
Born May 5, 1947, in Chicago, she died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, in Miami.
Mrs. Schack had been employed as a registered nurse since 1969.
Survivors include her husband, Stuart Schack; son, Stephen Schack of Miami; daughter, Suzanne (Pablo) Mastandrea of Miami; brothers, Lawrence (Carolyn) Keefe of Mount Prospect and Timothy Keefeof Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, P. O. Box 4472, Boca Raton, FL 33429, would be appreciated.

Frank T. Schweig Sr. of Carpentersville
Private funeral services will be held for Frank T. Schweig Sr., 58. of Carpentersville.
Born June 2, 1940, in Chicago, to Robert A. and Suzanne (nee Maggio) Schweig, he died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
A resident of Carpentersville for 34 years, Mr. Schweig had been an employee of the Milwaukee Road Railroad for 9 1/2 years. He was a member of the Elgin Moose #799, and the American Cribbage Congress (ACC). Formerly he had been a Scout leader in Carpentersville for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Roberta E. Schweig, whom he married Feb. 3, 1959; daughter, Roberta (Jesse) Byrd of Streamwood; sons, Frank T. Schweig Jr. of Carpentersville and Robert (Paula) Schweig of Schaumburg; and grandchildren, Katie, Jesse, Heather, Krystle, Brittany and Erich.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ann Sherman of Hoffman Estates
Funeral services for Ann Sherman, 66, will be held at 1 p.m. today, at The Piser Chapel, 9200 Skokie Blvd. (at Church Street), Skokie.
Mrs. Sherman died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Interment will be in Shalom Memorial Park.
She lost her five and a half year battle with cancer. Ann donated most of her life working to raise money for the Leukemia Research Foundation. She began a chapter for her friend's child in 1968, then lost her own daughter, Lori, 10 years later to leukemia. Ann was president of the Goland-Orenstein-Sherman chapter from 1979 to 1981. She also served as president of the Central Council for two terms. She helped in establishing a Leukemia Awareness Week in May of 1991, with Mayor Daley. Her volunteer efforts are a story of help, hope and concern for many families affected by Leukemia.
She was the beloved wife of Sheldon Sherman; dear mother of Brent (Kathy) Sherman, Denyce (Eugene) Rossi, Cary (Judy) Sherman and the late Lori; fond grandmother of Leslie, Eric, Jaime, Amanda, Kyle and Zachary; dear daughter of Helen Van Dam; and dear sister of the late Charlotte Blondin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Goland-Orenstein-Sherman Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation, 820 Davis, #420, Evanston, IL 60201, would be appreciated.

John F. Smejkal, 81, of Wheaton, formerly of Glen Ellyn, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998.

Gerald A. Spry formerly of Arlington Heights
Services for Gerald A. Spry, 76, of Hayward, Wis., will be held at noon Thursday, at Lauterburg and Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights.
Born Sept. 4, 1922, in Warren, Ohio, he died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, in Hayward.
Burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery.
Retired in 1961 from the Navy, he served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
He was the husband of Lorraine M. (nee Mares); father of Ronald G. Spry of Green Bay, Wis., Donald L. (Judy) Spry of Barrington Hills and Darlene L. (Daniel) Rohlfing of Richmond, Calif.; brother of the late Wayne T. Spry; grandfather of six; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

William G. Thien formerly of Palatine
Services for William G. Thien, 57, of Wildwood, Mo. (St. Louis), will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the First Evangelical Free Church, 1375 Carman Rd., Manchester, Mo.
Born Sept. 16, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., he died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, in St. Louis. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery, Pond, Mo.
Employed for 18 years with the Walgreen Corp. in Deerfield, he held several positions and retired in 1997, as vice president of health services. He was on the board of directors for Epilepsy Services of Northeastern Illinois.
He graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1955, was vice chair of the college board of trustees, and served on the board since 1990.
Mr. Thien was recently given the distinguished alumni award for his service to the profession.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Thien (nee Baum); daughters, Kathy (John) Schrader of St. Louis and Lynn (Barry) Coleman of Arlington Heights; granddaughter, Anna Lynn Schrader; brothers, Charles (Annette) Thien of St. Louis and Richard (Elaine) Thien of Lincoln, Neb.; and sister, Violet Thien of St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Hoffmeister-Kriegshauser West County Funeral Home, 15820 Clayton Rd., Ellisville, Mo. and from noon until the time of services Wednesday, at the church.

Mary Katherine Wcislo of Mount Prospect
A funeral Mass for Mary Katherine Wcislo (nee Hart) will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Road, Mount Prospect.
Born in Chicago, she died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Michael Reese Hospital. Burial will be in All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines.
A homemaker, Mrs. Wcislo is survived by her husband, Jay S. Wcislo; sons, Francis (Jane), David (Lisa) and William (Donna); daughters, Ellen and Kathleen; and grandchildren, Katie, Daniel, Anne, Emily, Julia and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights.

Mary LaVerne Wells of Mundelein
Services for Mary LaVerne Wells, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Community Protestant Church, 418 N. Prairie Ave., Mundelein. The Rev. Kenneth Press will officiate.
Born Oct. 17, 1910, in Libertyville, she died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at home. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery, Libertyville, following the services.
A lifelong resident of Mundelein, Mrs. Wells had served as the Mundelein village clerk for 26 years. She was a member of Community Protestant Church and an active member of the Dorcas Circle.
Survivors include her son, Dick (Lynn) Wells of Long Grove; grandchildren, Gary (Lorye) Wells of Lone Grove, Okla., Rhonda (Scott) Bast of Libertyville, Mark Hurley of Fort Worth, Texas, Lisa Lilly of Pilot Point, Texas, and Laura Rossof Jamestown, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Shea Wells, Bailee Bast and Colton Bast; and special friend, Bea Kiene of Mundelein.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul `Pudge' Wells, and daughter, Patsy.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, at Kristan Funeral Home P. C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176), Mundelein.
