James L. Siegrist

James L. Siegrist, 82 of Niota, Illinois passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at 1:43 P.M. at the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He was born on November 15, 1928 in Ft.Madison, Iowa a son of Charles and Grace Haigh Siegrist. Jim married
Iona Wiggenjost on May 10, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She survives in Niota, Illinois.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Diana and (Phillip) Bell of Overland Park, Kansas, Marlyn and (Paul) Anderson of Raymore, Missouri and Joan and (Michael) McAnany of Bucyrus, Kansas; two sons: Gregory and (Michelle) Siegrist of Olathe, Kansas and Lt. Col. David and (Tiffany) Siegrist of Washington, D.C. and one sister-in-law: Belva Siegrist. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Matthew, Joshua, Andrew, Anthony, Grace, Peyton, Parker, Jessica, and Matthew.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Charles and Robert Siegrist.
Jim graduated from the Nauvoo-Colusa High School in Nauvoo, Illinois. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict. Jim was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. He worked as a production operator for Chevron-Ortho and as a farmer. Jim was a member American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, Alleman Council in Nauvoo. Jim enjoyed watching westerns, following sports, reading, and playing cards especially “Pitch.”
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 after 2:00 P.M. with the family meeting friends between 6:00 and 8:00P.M. with a biblical wake at 7:30P.M. at the Lamporte-St.Clair Funeral Home in Nauvoo.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:00A.M. at the Sts. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Father Tom Szydlik as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the Hamilton and Nauvoo V.F.W. and American Legion.
Memorials have been established for the Nauvoo Fire and Rescue Deparment, or the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery.
T. Colleen Wagner
(December 26, 1936 - June 4, 2011)
T. Colleen Wagner, 74, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 5:40 P.M. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Kenny Jones. She was born on December 26, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois, a daughter of Joe Kidd and Gladys Derry Benson.
Survivors include three children: Diana (Kenny) Jones of Warsaw, IL, Tommy (Laura) Buckert of Hamilton, IL and Phyllis Frey of Warsaw, IL; one brother: John Kidd of Sarasota, FL; one sister: Elaine (Darryl) Jacobs of Carthage, IL; a special sister-in-law: Sharon Buckert of Mattawan, MI; a special niece: Rosemary (Bill) Churchill of Davenport, IA; special friends: Marilyn and Robert Welch of Abingdon, IL, Rita Long of Davenport, IA and Joyce Sparrow of Warsaw, IL; eleven grandchildren: Richard Althide, Shelly (Matt) Francis, Lindsey Buckert, Danielle Buckert, Rachael Moore, Joshua Buckert, Rebecca Buckert, Lindi Jones, Kenneth Jones, John (Tina) Stewart, Jr. and Chad (Erica) Stewart; great grandchildren: Brittney Wright, Ryan Bode, Justice Althide, Lathan Althide, Halie Smith, Devon Moore, Hayden Moore, Harley Moore, Madison Buckert, Wyatt Buckert, Destiny Harborth, Shelby Stewart, Cole Stewart, Evan Stewart, Hunter Stewart, Elijah Stewart and many special nieces and nephews. Colleen was anxiously expecting another great grandchild in December.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Evelyn Gregory.
Colleen enjoyed crossword puzzles and shopping, especially at collectible shops. She especially loved spending time with her family. She and her family greatly appreciated the care she received from Blessing Hospital and Blessing Hospice.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2011, 10:30 AM, at Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk with Pastor Ron McDugle officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Oakwood cemetery in Hamilton, IL.
Memorials have been established for Hancock County Blessing Hospice, Adams County Blessing Hospice and Palliative Care in Quincy, IL.
Gavin Carl Roskamp
(February 25, 1995 - June 6, 2011)
Gavin Carl Roskamp, 16, of Sutter, IL, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011, in Carthage, IL as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on February 25, 1995, in Quincy, IL, a son of Max L. and Debra Marie Casady Roskamp of Sutter, IL.
In addition to his parents, Gavin is survived by two brothers: John Austin Roskamp and Justin Luke Roskamp, both at home in Sutter; paternal grandmother: Elma E. Brackensick Roskamp of Sutter, IL; maternal grandparents: J. Ned and Carol Casady of Warsaw, IL and Jim and Margaret Johnson Dennis of Warsaw, IL; aunts and uncles: Bruce and Jane Roskamp of Sutter, IL, who were his Godparents, Gordon Roskamp of Macomb, IL, Donald and Shirley Roskamp of Sutter, IL, Bill and Barb Casady of Warsaw, IL, who were his Godparents, Paul and Debra Casady of Warsaw, IL and Ariel and Andy Bennedict of Wayland, MO; a special Uncle and Aunt, Larry and Barb Stoll of Quincy, IL; a special Aunt, Brenda Reiter of Quincy, IL; many cousins and many step aunts and uncles. Gavin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Carl Roskamp.
He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga, IL where he was active and serving as secretary for the Youth Fellowship.
Gavin had finished his sophomore year at Warsaw High School where he was a 4.0 student. He was very active in the performing arts and excelled musically. He sang, played the piano and trombone. Gavin was a member of Early Bird Chorus and had accompanied the group. He was selected for IMEA (Illinois Music Educator's Association) District IV Chorus for seven years. Gavin was also a member of Warsaw High School Band and Warsaw High School 1A Jazz Band. At Solo and Ensemble Contest, he recently had received five Superior Awards in vocal and instrumental, which, combined with the large group band contest superior rating, contributed toward WHS Bands being in the State Elite 8. In 2010, he played first chair trombone in the State FFA Band, and was selected again for the upcoming 2011 convention. He was selected to WCC (West Central Conference) Honor Band both years in high school. He also played 1st chair in Nauvoo Community Band in Nauvoo, IL. Gavin was musically gifted and could play anything by ear. Since kindergarden, Gavin performed in Warsaw High School and Nauvoo-Colusa Jr. High musicals, playing a lead role his freshman year, and recently was an accompanist for the Warsaw High School musical. He was a member of the WHS Quiz Bowl Team for two years. When Gavin was 12, he toured Australia with People to People Student Ambassador Program. When he returned from the trip, he shared his experience with church and civic organizations by showing power-point programs.
Gavin was serving on Teen Court through the Hancock County Courthouse, and was on his way to serve in this capacity at the time of the accident.
Gavin’s main hobby was working with computers. He was able to fix nearly any computer problem and offered his expertise to many others. He had planned on majoring in Computer Science at Western Illinois University after high school graduation.
Gavin was quiet, fun-loving, and outgoing. He had a big heart and enjoyed a large group of friends. Gavin lived every day to the fullest and had experienced a wonderful life in his 16 years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 after 12:00 noon, with the family meeting friends between 3:00 and 7:00 PM at Warsaw High School. A Funeral Service will Follow at 7:00 P.M. at the Warsaw High School gym with Pastor Joel Schlatter and the Rev.'s Del Piercy and Darwin Smith of Bethany UCC Tioga, and Rev. Sue Loper of Carthage and Warsaw Presbyterian Churches, officiating. A Private Family Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga. Burial will be in Bethany United Church of Christ cemetery, Tioga.

Rosalie M. Hobb
(February 19, 2011 - June 8, 2011)
Rosalie M. McVeigh Hobb, age 90, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went to be with her Lord on June 8, 2011 at 8:18 A.M. at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage, Illinois. She was born on February 19, 1921 in Algona, Iowa to Calvin Glen and Minnie Belle Cochenour McVeigh. She married
James H. Hobb on September 10, 1938 in Edina, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1969.
Survivors include eight daughters: Mary and Houston (Buddy) Bennett of Garland, Texas, Vera and (John) Davis of Niles, Michigan, Karen and (Roger) Bryant of Keokuk, Iowa, Gladys and (Jerry) Pearce of Monahans, Texas, Nancy and (Bill) Mann of Monahans, Texas, Shirley Hobb of Keokuk, Iowa, Adalee and (Mike) Johnson of Blandinsville, Illinois, and Doris Bagent and Marvin McGill of Fort Madison, Iowa; and three sons: Jim Hobb and Sherlene Duncan of Keokuk, Iowa, Alva Hobb of Warsaw, Illinois, and Louie Hobb and Colleen Varner of Hamilton, Illinois. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Stanley, a daughter, Rosalie Hobb Kay Rakey, a grand daughter, Barbara Kay Whippie, a daughter-in-law, Brenda (Happy) Hobb, a grand daughter-in-law, Debbie Mann, three sisters, Gladys Greenslaugh, Velma Rhodes, Alma Louise Boyd, and three brothers, Robert, Leslie, and Lewis McVeigh.
She attended school in Kahoka, Missouri, as well as country schools around Kahoka. Rosalie was a faithful member of Crossview Fellowship Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Her hobby was collecting dolls. She loved to bake cakes, cookies, and pies for her family. A very humble lady, she was an inspiration to everyone that knew her, and she will be missed by all. Her legacy to her family and friends would be to love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul. She was truly a great example of God’s unconditional love.
2nd Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
This is not goodbye, it’s just until we meet again.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011at the Crossview Fellowship Church in Keokuk after 11:00A.M. with the family meeting friends between 11:00A.M. and 1:00P.M.
Services will be following the visitation at 1:00 P.M. with the Reverend Terry Lovell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakwood cemetery in Hamilton, Illinois

Florence L. Marzolf
June 1, 1920 - April 10, 2009
NAUVOO, Ill. - Florence L. Marzolf, 88, of Nauvoo, Ill., died at 9:14 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009, in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.
She was born on June 1, 1920, in Sonora Township, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Ruth Huntley Newton.
She married
Edward Carl Bud Marzolf on June 25, 1953. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1996.
Survivors include: a daughter, Cheryl L. Marzolf of Peoria; a son, Harold L. (Sharee) Marzolf of Monroe, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Carl Marzolf of Milwaukee, Wis., and Curt Marzolf of Monroe.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; twin children, Michael R. and Marietta Ruth Marzolf, who died at birth; and a sister, Marjorie Kyburz.
She graduated from Oaden Elementary School and Nauvoo High School.
She was an active member of the Nauvoo Presbyterian Church and a member of the Nauvoo Presbyterian Womens Group. She also was a member of the Nauvoo Unit of Home Extension and a hobby club she formed with her friends.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, traveling and dining out with her friends and family. Florence and her husband farmed in the Nauvoo area, raising grain, fruit and livestock.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lamporte - St. Clair Funeral Home, Nauvoo, with Mark Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in the Nauvoo City cemetery.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established for the Nauvoo Presbyterian Church or Hancock County Cancer Society.
Lamporte - St.Clair Funeral Home, Nauvoo, is in charge of arrangements.
