Nellie Miller, 89, of Decatur, died 10:00 A.M. February 4, 2003, in McKinley Court.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 7, at the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren, with visitation one hour prior to service time.
Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery.
Arrangements by Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Miller was born January 28, 1914, in Brownstown, the daughter of Alonzo Daniel and Myrah Elizabeth (Harris) Eveland. She married Joseph James Miller April 17, 1935, in Cerro Gordo. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her son: Jerry Miller and wife Donna of Kansas City, MO; daughter: Linda Duncan and husband Jim of Decatur; grandsons: Lonnie Miller of Mattoon, Joe Miller and wife Kelly of Decatur; granddaughters: Angela Rager of Latham, Donna Miller-Stogsdill of Forsyth, Joetta Miller of Decatur; step-grandchildren: Geoff Duncan and wife Holly of Decatur, and Jim Duncan and wife Lisa of Bartlett; daughter-in-law: Adiline Young of Arthur; brother: Bud Eveland of Dix; seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Bob, two brothers and five sisters.

Decatur - Bhadra R. Daftary, 79, of Decatur, died at her residence at 10:56 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2008.
Arrangements by Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Mrs. Daftary was born February 7, 1929 in Ahmedabad, India, the daughter of Shantilal and Shantaben C. (Mashruwala) Shah. She married Rasik D. Daftary on May 13, 1956 in Ahmedabad, India.
Mrs. Daftary loved teaching, she gave educational programs on family life in India, in churches and schools across Macon County. She loved cooking, and wrote a recipe book using soy products. Mrs. Daftary was also Founding President of the International Women’s Club of Decatur, Illinois and believed in close friendships.
Surviving are her husband, Rasik; one son, Ashi R. Daftary and wife Janeen and their four children, Zach, Alex, Chase, and Bailey of Pittsburgh PA; one daughter, Meeta D. Evers and husband Jeff and their two children, Jeremy, and Christina of St. Louis, MO, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Daftary was preceded in death by both of her parents; one daughter, Meena; and one brother.

Sidney (Sid) Lee Lawton

Sidney (Sid) Lee Lawton, 69, of Decatur, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2003, at 9: 57 P.M. at McAllen Medical Center in Pharr Texas with his wife of 50 years and two daughters Catherine L. Cleary and Carol Ann Lawton at his bed side.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 7, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, with visitation 5-8 P.M. Thursday, February 6, with a masonic service at 8:00 P.M. conducted by the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979 AM & AF. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Family and friends will be gathering at the Warrensburg Sportsman's Club, Inc. immediately following the burial.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63131-3597.
Sid was born in Kensett, Arkansas, on February 8, 1933, the son of William P. “Perkins” and Georgia Lawton. He later moved to Decatur for the rest of his life. He went to Centennial and Decatur High School. He then worked at Decatur Paper Warehouse, General Electric, and P&W; Construction Co. In 1966, he became the owner/operator of Sid Lawton Construction. He built many new homes and did remodeling in the Decatur area.He married Dorothy L. Rager April 5, 1952, in Marion, Arkansas. When he was not busy “collecting rent” and taking care of his rental property, you could find him at the Warrensburg Sportsman's Club, Inc. or riding one of his many Cushman scooters, or down in Pharr, Texas. Sid was a president of Warrensburg Sportsman's Club, a member of Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979 AM & AF, Beaumonoir Commandry No. 9 K.T., Decatur Shrine Club, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Danville, Ansar Eagles, BPOE Elks, the Ansar Temple Shrine of Springfield, the Decatur Shrine Club, the Decatur Landlord's Association, the Order of Eastern Star Guiding Light, and a past member of Decatur Home Builder's Association.
Sid is survived by his wife of 50 years Dorothy; daughters: Catherine L. Cleary and Carol Ann “Goofy” Lawton, both of Decatur; son-in-law: Michael Gilstrap of Decatur; grandchildren: Elizabeth Cleary and fiancé Mark Donnelly of Cedar Rapids, IA, Christine and William Lawton Cleary of Decatur; brother: Dennis A. Lawton and wife Janet of Decatur; sister: Shelia A. Gardner and husband Al of Decatur; nieces and nephews: Gary Spaugh, Cathy Stalker and husband Jim, Patty Wickline, Randy Spaugh and wife Kathy, and Darin Robinson.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jessie Marie, nephews Derek Robinson and Dennis Binkley, and very dear and special person, Thom Miller.
The family would like to thank all their friends and family, the Warrensburg Sportsman's Club, Inc., Nellies Tavern, Jackies, American Legion in Pharr, Texas, Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur, Dr. Velasco, McAllen Medical Center in Pharr, Texas, and sister-in-law Shirley Rager and Dwight Buckner.
Sid will be deeply missed by his friends, both here and in Texas, but we all know that he is resting in peace and out of pain, wearing his orange stocking hat. God Bless You.

Elizabeth A. Black, 87, a life long resident, of Cerro Gordo, died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003 in her daughter's home in Godfrey, IL.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 22nd at the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, with visitation 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery.

Elizabeth was born August 17, 1916 in Cerro Gordo, the daughter of Ivan R. and Nannette (Warfield) Peck. She married Gerald E. Black December 29, 1940 in Cerro Gordo. He preceded her in death May 31, 1974.
She was a member of the Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Philips and husband William, Godfrey; two grandchildren, Martha Phillips Stuart, Washington D.C., Seth Phillips and wife Erin, Godfrey; one great grandson, Ian Keller Phillips, Godfrey; and one sister, Marilyn Morr and husband Robert, Cerro Gordo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters, Eileen Arnold, twin sister, Evalyn Merritt, and Dorothy Sheets.

Katherine Alsip Moore, 93, of Iowa, formerly of Decatur, died January 21, 2004, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa.
Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 20, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Decatur, with Rev. Stephen Hill officiating, with a coffee reception following the services. Private Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery, Cerro Gordo, Illinois. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Decatur Public Library or Millikin University.
Katherine was born May 30, 1910, in Lovington, Illinois, the daughter of Dr. Herbert S. and Julia (Potts) Alsip. She married W. Robert Moore on December 26, 1941, in Decatur. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Katherine was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Decatur. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority; BW Chapter, PEO; Charter member and past president of Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Country Club of Decatur; Founding member of the Commodore Decatur Yacht Club; and Governor Oglesby Mansion volunteer. She attended Millikin University and the University of Colorado.
She is survived by her sons S. Michael Moore and wife Suzanne of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Thomas S. Moore of Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren Melissa Moore Janes (Paul), and Jason Moore, all of East Grand Rapids, Michigan; great grandchildren Colleen C. Janes, J. Paul Janes Jr., and Robert S. Janes, all of East Grand Rapids, Michigan; nephew Howard Newcomb of Portland, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband W. Robert, and sister Janet Burnett.

Dorothy Lucille Williams, 83, of Decatur, passed away at 6:55 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2004 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. A private family funeral service will be held Monday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.

Dorothy was born May 27, 1920 in Decatur, the daughter of Fred and Magdalena Salogga. She retired from A.W. Cash Value Company in 1982.
Surviving are her son, Dennis Scott and wife Linda, Decatur; granddaughter, Wendy Scott and fiancée David Hunt, Decatur; great-grandchildren, Callie Scott and Dalton Hunt both of Decatur; nephew Scott Whitney and wife Elaine, Morton Grove; niece, Sandy Whitney Wood and husband Mike, Deerfield; aunt, Dorothy Koprek, Gleason, WI; and best friend, Emily Snipes, Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin brothers; sister, Margie Whitney; nephew, Jimmy Whitney; and uncle, William Koprek
We would sincerely like to thank Dr. Mitchell at SIU, Dr. Raycraft and staff at 5100 DMH for their dedicated care and compassion during my mother's final hours.

David T. Hurley

David T. Hurley, 69, of Decatur, IL, died Monday, January 4, 2010, at his daughter’s loving home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 8, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation Thursday, January 7, from 4 to 7 P.M., at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Boiling Springs cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Hopsice.
David was born October 9, 1940, in Decatur, IL, the son of Russell Madison and Eloise Florence (McDaniel) Hurley. He was a laborer for Local #159 for many years, retiring in 1995. David was a proud member of Local #159 and President of the Retirees committee. He loved fishing and was an avid Cub fan.
He is survived by his children Yvonne Frank of Illinois, Angie Moody and husband Wayne of Litchfield, IL, David Hurley, Jr. and wife Circy of Bradenton, FL, Tina Hurley of Litchfield, IL, Tara Zientara and husband Vic of Decatur, IL, Tanya Hurley of Decatur, IL; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother Dick Hurley and wife Donna of Shawnee, Oklahoma; mother Eloise Jones of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother Danny Hurley and sister Nancy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Esparaz and staff at Cancer Care Specialists of Central IL and St. John’s Hospice for the loving care given to David during his illness.
He will be missed by his loving family and many friends.

Gerald A. “Jerry” Stout, 71, of Illiopolis, IL, died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Illiopolis United Methodist Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be 4 to 8 P.M., Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Illiopolis, IL.
Memorials may be made to Illiopolis United Methodist Church, Illiopolis Fire Department, Illinois 4-H Foundation.
Jerry was born January 20, 1939 in Pekin, IL, the son of Howard and Irene (Schmitgall) Stout. He married Marjorie Ann Stone on June 21, 1959 in Greenview, IL.
Jerry was an active member of Illiopolis United Methodist Church since 1960. He started his life in Illiopolis in 1958 working for DeKalb and retired after 28 years with Lincoln Land FS. Jerry was a 4-H member and supporter, volunteered at Illiopolis Fire Dept. for 25 years and was “Santa” for the community for many years. He loved gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marge of Illiopolis, IL; daughter Pam Gaucin and husband Joe of Okeechobee, FL; son Jeff Stout and wife Beth of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Allison Decker of Port St. Lucie, FL, Joey and Caitlyn Gaucin, of Okeechobee, FL, Trevor Stout, Bre Traxler and husband Adam, Jeffrey Bolt, Jared Bolt, all of Decatur; brothers Dave Stout and wife Molly of Pekin, IL, Rex Stout and wife Glenna of Delavan, IL; sister-in-law Merlene Stout of Lincoln, IL; 5 nephews and 1 niece; several great nieces and nephews; aunts Helen Gregory and LaVerne Koch of Manito, IL; and Rick Decker of Port St. Lucie, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale.
Jerry loved his family, friends, community and his country.
