Rupert S. Blair, 87, of Decatur, IL, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Heritage Manor in Mount Zion, IL.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 P.M., Monday, February 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon cemetery, Macon, IL, with military rites conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans of Decatur, IL.
Rupert was born March 10, 1922, in Chandlerville, IL, the son of Claude and Viola (Ramsey) Blair. He married
Dorothy May Hall on January 24, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2008.
Rupert was a former member of Prairie Avenue Christian Church. He worked as a Mechanical Inspector and Wrecker Foreman at Wabash Railroad, later the Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring after 42 years of service. Rupert was a WWII Army Veteran, member of the American Legion and the D.A.V.
He is survived by his children Sandra (Bill Pitts) Allen of Colorado Springs, CO, Ronald D. (Jimmie) Blair of Yukon, OK, Michael F. (Rev. Lynn Miller) Blair of Johnstown, PA; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, sons Rupert Leon and Stephen Duane and sister Geraldine Bruner.

Thelma O. Williamson, 92, of Decatur died, March 28, 2010 at Fair Haven Christian Home, Decatur, Ill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00AM, Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be at Macon County Memorial Park.

Mrs. Williamson was born Aug. 19, 1917 in Decatur, the daughter of George M. & Florence Barger Pfeifer. She married
Woodrow Williamson Oct. 3, 1936 in Decatur, IL, he preceded her Nov. 7, 1981.
She is survived by Son; Gerald Williamson of Florida, Daughters; Patricia Long of Georgia and Susan Maurer of Decatur. Brother; Jack Pfeifer, Sister; Ellen Marsh both of Decatur, Sister; Barbara Corley of Virginia and Martha Smith and Alice Bailey both of Decatur. Several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren survive.
Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Henrietta F. “Dutch” Davidson, 89, formerly of Cerro Gordo, IL passed on to her Heavenly home at 1:32 A.M., Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at Lincoln Manor Nursing Home in Decatur.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 21, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., in the Cerro Gordo Methodist Church with Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home assisting. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Rev. Dan Lybarger and Rev. Chad Sparks will officiate. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cerro Gordo Methodist Church or Cerro Gordo Community Ambulance Service.
Henrietta was born February 8, 1918, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of John Joseph and Mary Buennemeyer Goldstein. She married
Donald Davidson in Decatur, IL on April 16, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 30, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a brother, Otto Goldstein and wife Mardelle of Funkhouser, along with several nieces and nephews.
Henrietta was a WWII veteran having served in Australia and New Guinea in the South Pacific. She was a member of the Cerro Gordo Methodist Church and the Women’s Circle along with serving on several committees. Dutch was Past Matron of Order of Eastern Star 173 of Cerro Gordo, in addition she volunteered at the Piatt Co. Nursing Home in Monticello, IL.
She and her husband had farmed many years in rural Cerro Gordo and enjoyed traveling this beautiful country. Dutch had the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land and felt blessed to have been baptized in the River Jordan.
We would like to thank the staff of Keystone Meadows for their continued care provided for Dutch during the past 8 years. In addition we are grateful for the love and support shown to Dutch for the past 3 ½ months by the staff of Lincoln Manor Nursing Home in Decatur.
Many lives were touched by Dutch and she will be missed by all.

Grace Vivian Parry, 93, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1:15 p.m.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Westminster Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Private family inurnment will be in Boiling Springs cemetery, Decatur, IL

Grace was born on November 23, 1916 in Clinton, Iowa. She attended a community college and the University of Iowa where she met her best friend and husband, Marvin Parry. She taught elementary school near Clinton before and after her marriage to Marv. They moved many times during his career prior to landing in Decatur. They loved Decatur and had many wonderful friends with which they played bridge, golf and danced. When he retired they moved to Florida and lived there for 16 years enjoying the great weather and the friendships made. When their health began to fail, they came back to Decatur to be with family. Her lover of 59 years passed away in March of 2001.
She leaves behind her children: Dr. Tom (Doris) Parry of Albuquerque, NM; Sue Parry of Decatur, IL; Cindy (Pat) Laegeler of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Cameron (Stephanie) Parry of Calistoga, CA; Kim Gordon of Decatur, IL; Tim “T. J.” Gordon of Decatur, IL; Andy (Molly) Laegeler of Houston, TX; Rob Laegeler of St. Louis, MO; Kate Laegeler of Decatur, IL; great-grandchildren: Jacob Parry Laegeler of Houston, TX and June Elizabeth Parry of Calistoga, CA; brother Charles (Margery) McKinley of Brownsville, PA.
The family loves and appreciates the staffs of Hickory Point Christian Village Assisted Living Center and Imboden Creek Living Center for all their wonderful care of this great mother and friend.

Beverly Ann Maddox, 70, of Decatur, passed away at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 5, at the Heartland Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 12, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4:30-7:30 P.M. Monday, January 11, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Beverly’s name to the Decatur Memorial Hospital Cancer Care Center.
Beverly was born March 20, 1939, in rural Sullivan, Illinois, the daughter of George and Iva Wilhelm. She married
Thomas Maddox in Decatur on March 6, 1964. He survives. Also surviving are six children: Mike (debi) Maddox of Monument, CO, Pam (Joe) Hazel of Richmond, VA, Rick Maddox of Springfield, Tom Maddox, Charlotte Bell (Mark Roberts) of Decatur, and Holly (Steven) Pearson also of Decatur. Two grandchildren: Jennifer Murphy of Winter Park, FL, and Jesse (Carla) Maddox of Monument, CO, one great granddaughter: Cora Vine of Monument, CO, brothers: Dennis and Charles of Decatur, Merl of Springfield, MO, and James of Peoria, 43 nieces and nephews, 42 great nieces and nephews, and 7 great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Shelly Maddox, granddaughter Rachel Maddox, and ten brothers: Ray of Sullivan, Carl, Arnold and Leonard of Decatur, Edgar of Newport News, VA, Lloyd and Gene of Sullivan, Albert of Lovington, George and Duane of Tuscola.
Beverly was active along with her husband in the State Foster Care program, and served as foster mother for more than 250 children, often volunteering to care for the neediest children, those with physical or emotional problems. After she ended her service as a foster mother she continued to serve in an advisory capacity to other foster parents.
She graduated from Arthur High School in 1957. In 2009 she was presented with a “Humanitarian Award” by her classmates for her work in the foster care program.
She was a devoted member of Morningside Church of Christ and a firm believer in the Christian religion. Her devotion to needy children grew out of her deep conviction that Christians are to reflect the love of Christ in their lives by helping others.
As the only daughter in a family of fourteen boys, Beverly was loved and respected by her brothers as well as the extended family of all her “sons” and “daughters.”

Phyllis E. Wilber, 65, of Decatur, died at 9:39 AM, Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Family will gather with friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Macon County Memorial Park.

Phyllis was born on December 14, 1944 in Decatur, the daughter of Paul F. and Bessie C. (Strohl) Prince. She married
Richard H. Wilber, August 28, 1976, in Decatur.
She worked as an administrative assistant at the Macon County Child Advocacy Center for 3 years. She loved watching birds, wildlife, and enjoyed watching her husband, Richard, shoot at the Gun Club.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Richard; four children, Martin L. Moore and wife, Dolores of Edgewood, NM, Cody L. Moore and wife, Jean of Decatur, Jeanne R. Anderson of Ramsey, IL, Rich L. Wilber and wife, Tracey of Decatur; eight grandchildren Bobby and Matthew Moore, Ashley, Brittany, Emma Moore, Lacey Anderson, Haylee and Torey Wilber; great grandson, Adam Thomas; two sisters Shirley McHaney and Marilyn Durbin both of Decatur and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by both parents, and her father-in-law, William Francis Wilber.

Walter Irwin Nelson, Jr., 85, of Decatur, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Tabor Hills Nursing Home, Naperville, IL.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 3, at First Presbyterian Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Friday, April 2, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Decatur, IL with military honors by the Macon County Honor Guard.

Mr. Nelson was born January 22, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Walter Irwin, Sr. and Amy Seely (Johnson) Nelson. He was raised in Galva, IL, and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married
Geraldine Lamb on May 10, 1958, in Peoria, IL. Mr. Nelson, a mechanical engineer, retired from Caterpillar after 37 years. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was also a member of the choir. He was a member of the Decatur Chordsmen for 22 years, and the barbershop quartet “4 Crying Out Loud”. Since 1989, he was a member of Golden K Kiwanis and was recently awarded for accomplishing 2000 hours of volunteer community service.
Mr. Nelson was a life-long participant with the Boy Scouts of America. He was Webelos Den Leader with Pack 211, and Assistant Scoutmaster and advancement chair for Troop 132 in Decatur. He served as a Commissioner at the unit, district and council levels, was a graduate of the College of Commissioner Service, and conducted Commissioner training. He was a regional camp visitation specialist inspecting Scout camps throughout Illinois and neighboring states. He conducted leadership training for the Railsplitter District and the Lincoln Trails Council. Mr. Nelson successfully completed Wood Badge training, earned membership to the Order of the Arrow and Firecrafters, and was presented the Silver Beaver Award and a District Award of Merit.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine of Decatur; daughter Rebecca Nelson of North Tonawanda, NY; son John Nelson and wife Jane of Naperville, IL; sister Ann Elizabeth Heise and husband John of Park Ridge, IL; grandchildren: Jeremy Bell and wife Emily, Adam Bell, Rachel Nelson, and Samuel Nelson.

Dorothy was born November 21, 1926 in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, the daughter of Birt and Matilda (Parkhurst) Nixon. She married
Dr. H. Edmund Foster in Decatur, IL on July 23, 1966. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2003.
Dorothy attended schools in Hindsboro, Arcola and Joliet Junior College. She worked at Citizens Bank and retired in 1982 after 19 years with Security Savings and Loan in Decatur. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her many long time friends and family.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Dan Nixon and wife Margaret of Hindsboro, IL; niece Pat McCullough and husband Philip of Woodstock, IL; nephew Mike Nixon and wife Linda of Sharpsburg, GA; niece Brenda Findley of Elwood, IL; nephew Phillip Sylvester of Elwood, IL; great nieces Karen, Kristen and Katherine McCullough; stepdaughter Linda Hansen and husband Terry of Oak Park, IL; stepson James Foster of Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Wilma Sylvester, and stepson Robert.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dorothy’s caregivers Sandy, Shirley, Dee, Dottie and Paula for all their care and support. Also a special thanks to the DMH Hospice Staff, especially Debbie, her nurse.
