Betty Joanne Barnes, 76, of Decatur, died 2:40 AM, February 23, 2008, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Life Foursquare Church.
Joanne was born June 4, 1931, in Decatur, the daughter of Harry Loser and Lillian (Dunham) Bechtel. She married Joseph A. Barnes on December 26, 1950, in Decatur, IL.
Joanne enjoyed reading, tole painting, bird watching, fishing and loved her family. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and also a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She currently attended Life Foursquare Church.
Survivng are her loving husband Joseph; three children, Stephen A. Barnes and wife Jeannie of Decatur, David W. Barnes and wife Marti of Macon, Cindy J. Brown and husband Eric of Oakley; four grandsons, Stephen Lynn Barnes of Lombard, IL, Craig Stephen Barnes of Mt. Zion, Chad Michael Barnes of Decatur, Dillan Austin Brown of Oakley; two great grandchildren, Peyton Andrew Barnes and Cooper Reece Barnes of Mt Zion one brother, Harry Leon Bechtel of Edmonds, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are both parents, three sisters, Pauline, Orvilline, and Harriett.
She was a Godly woman who loved the Lord, and one of the most precious, loving and giving, self sacrificing women. She adored her husband. She was very respected by her family and friends and will be terribly missed.

Loretta Marie Barnett

Loretta Marie (Kern) Barnett, 94, of Decatur passed away at 6:40 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Visitation will be 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m., in Fairlawn cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Inn or to First Lutheran Church.
Loretta was born April 30, 1913, in Decatur, the daughter of Reynold and Marie (Andersen) Kern. She married Leroy Barnett on November 24, 1939, in Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2002. Loretta graduated from Decatur High School and Browns Business School. She previously worked for Krigbaum Electric Company.
Surviving are her sister-in-law Mary Ann Kern of Decatur; nieces Barbara Ahlenius and husband Charles; Sally Schumacher and husband Bill; and Wendy Brimm, all of Decatur; cousins Charlotte Myers and husband Bill of Springfield; and Charles McMullen and wife Sherry of Quincy; many great nieces and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, son Roger, brothers Harry, Robert Kern and sister-in-law Louise Kern.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Fritz and the staff at Imboden Creek Living Center.

Mary Elizabeth (Sayler) Belskamper, 94, of Decatur, IL, died 9:25 P.M., Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
Mary was born September 2, 1913, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Clyde and Ruby (Scott) Sayler. She married David B. Belskamper, Sr. on May 14, 1966, in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1985.
Mary was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She attended Stephen Decatur High School and worked at the Herald & Review for 45 years, retiring in 1975. Mary was a member of Business and Professional People and was very active at the Decatur Senior Center.
She is survived by her great niece Julie (Mourmia) Cherradi of Wentzville, MO; stepson David (Mary) Belskamper of Macon, IL; stepdaughters Shirley (Don) Evans of Fairview Park, OH, Charlotte (Jack) Stringer of Macon, IL; sister-in-law Ada Artze of Decatur, IL; stepgrandchldren Karen (David) Wilber of Macon, IL, Sharon (Tim) Carlson of Stonington, IL, Juli (Dick) Baldwin of Chatham, IL, Larry (Kim) Belskamper of Macon, IL, Vicki Kozub of Fairview Park, OH, Terri (John) Morney of Fairview Park, OH, Jeff (Hilary) Evans of Cincinnati, OH, Jacqueline (Kevin) Lawton of Decatur, IL, Tim (LuAnn) Stringer of Macon, IL; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Belskamper, parents Clyde L. and Ruby M. Sayler, niece Muriel Patton, grandson Lonnie Belskamper and great great grandson Aiden Gordon.

Wilbur Berger

Wilbur Berger, 87, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at ManorCare Nursing Home in Decatur, surrounded by his family.
Wilbur was born July 10, 1920, in Chicago, IL, the son of Harry and Matilda (Humboldt) Berger and lived in Decatur since he was seven years old. He married Norma Miller on June 10, 1940, in St. Louis, MO. His beloved wife, son, and three daughters survive: Janice Lahr of Lutz, FL, David (Barbara) Berger of Dunlap, IL and Sally (Mike) Lee and Ellen Berger of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Doug (Suzi) Baker, Kent (Taunya) Baker, Todd (Debby) Baker, James (Kimberly) Berger, Rebecca (Greg) Jones, and Heath (Lisa) Lee and ten great-grandchildren: Jeremy Baker, Jessica Baker, Brittany Baker, Amber Baker, Kyle Baker, Riley Jones, Maren Jones, Braden Lee, Kiersten Lee, and Carter Lee. His sister Marian Bauserman of Monroeville, IN survives also.
Wilbur graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and retired from General Electric Co. in 1981. He was a WWII veteran, serving as a Seaman in the U.S. Navy and he also served the U.S. Army and United Nations at the Sangamon Ordinance plant in Illiopolis, IL from 1944-1945.
Wilbur enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and active member of the StarCraft camping club. He was known to family and friends as “a jack of all trades and the master of many”. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by family and friends.
The family of Wilbur would like to thank all of the staff at Manor Care Nursing Home for their excellent care and kindness during the past three years.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Friday, October 26, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garver cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 4709 Golf Rd., Suite 1015, Skokie, IL 60076.

Herman Vance Berry

Herman Vance Berry, 74, of Oakley, IL, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at his residence.
Abiding by his wishes, Mr. Berry will be cremated. There will be no services. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling arrangements.
Herman was born March 24, 1933, in Oakley, IL, the son of Herman Varner and Christina M. (Large) Berry. He was the last of nine children preceded in death. Herman married Gladys N. Miller on April 1, 1956. She survives.
He was a member of Arcola First Church of the Nazarene. Herman was a U.S. Marine Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He worked for 32 years at Caterpillar, Inc. as a tool grinder.

Ray Best, Jr., 84, of Decatur, IL, died 9:15 A.M., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Friday, May 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
Ray was born September 7, 1923, in Rosemond, IL, the son of Lewis Ray and Gladys (Ferguson) Best. He married Pina Elnora Mueller on March 23, 1944 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Ray worked 37 years for Staley’s as a Developing Engineer and previously worked for Wabash Railroad and Mense Marathon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a life long Cardinal Fan..
He is survived by his children Sharon Best and companion J.C. of Elkhart, IN, Mary Thacker and husband Carl of Decatur, IL, Barbara Edmiston and husband William of Decatur, IL, Joanna Timmons and husband Robert of Niantic, IL; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; sister Viola Scribner of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pina, great granddaughter Bryson, grandson Michael, nephew Stephen Scribner.

She was born January 26, 1923, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Wayne V. and Edna A. (Hicks) Willis. She married Adolph J. Bione in 1970 in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2001.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn A. Zeidler Bowen and husband Robert of Danville, IL; son-in-law Johann Zeidler of Decatur, IL; son Jimmie D. Mattison and wife Ruby of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Jonathan P. Zeidler and wife Christine of Iowa, Jason M. Zeidler of California, Katheryn Franziska Zeidler and grandson-in-law Michael Taylor of Shelbyville, IL, Jerry Lee Bione and Barbara Bione of Oklahoma City, OK, Tracey Geraldo of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Grevious and husband Jason of TN, Kimberly Punzal and husband Charles of Las Vegas, NV; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; special friend Dona Groves of Decatur, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, husband Adolph Bione, and son and daughter-in-law Robert and Carol Bione.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Cancer Care Specialists especially Dr. Wade and his staff and Decatur Memorial Hospice.

Dorothy was born June 21, 1922, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Hardin E. and Mary Elizabeth (Sage) Hall. She married Rupert S. Blair on January 24, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.
Dorothy was a member of Prairie Avenue Christian Church. She loved to sing, was a member of bowling teams and loved to travel to bowling tournaments. Dorothy enjoyed going to the Y.M.C.A.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rupert of Decatur, IL; children Sandra Allen and fiancé Bill Pitts of Colorado Springs, CO, Ronald D. Blair and wife Jimmie of Yukon, OK, Michael F. Blair and fiancé Lynn Miller of Windmer, PA; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Leon and Stephen Blair, one sister and one brother.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Heritage Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care Dorothy received.
