Wayne Grotjan, 75, of Branson West Missouri, died 8:37 P.M., Friday, February 8, 2008, at Skaggs Hospital, Branson, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M., followed by a Memorial Service from 7:30 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. The family requests casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
Wayne was born June 6, 1932, in Dalton, Missouri, the son of Gus and Ardith (Beckett) Grotjan. He married Gloria Sue Richardson on February 11, 1951, in Decatur, IL.
Wayne worked at Staleys for 22 years. He retired from ADM after 12 years of service. His work at ADM took him to many cities and countries where he made many friends. He enjoyed woodcarving, birdwatching, and gourmet cooking. His sense of humor and story telling will be especially missed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue of Branson West Missouri; son Kent (Michelle) Grotjan of Lafayette, Indiana; daughters Gail Rezai of Weatherford, Texas, Gwen (Ron) Miller of Decatur, Illinois, Sherry (Mark) Metzger of San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers Stanley (Delores) Grotjan of Bend, Oregon and Roger (Janie) Grotjan of Decatur, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Justin “Cookie” Hackl, 21, of Decatur, died at 1:48 P.M. on Saturday (04-05-2008) at Carle Hospital Champaign, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday (04-09-2008) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, IL., with visitation from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday (04-08-2008) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, IL.. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead cemetery Decatur, IL.

Justin was born on March 4, 1987 in Decatur, IL., the son of David Eric Hackl and Stacey E. Christensen. He was a 2007 Graduate of Meridian High School and played as running back on Meridian High School’s Football Team “The Hawks”. He worked at the Southside Country Club as a staff member the last six to eight months. Justin was an avid ping pong player and enjoyed viewing Ultimate Fighting Championships.
Surviving are his Father: David Hackl and wife Shannon of Decatur, IL.; Mother: Stacey and husband John Hutcheson of Munford, TN.; Stepsister: Samantha Beyers of Decatur, IL.; Stepbrothers: Seth Beyers of Decatur, IL. and Tyler Hutcheson of Munford, TN.; Nephews: J.J. of Decatur, IL. and Skyler of Dalton City, IL.; Cousins: Christopher and wife Suzie Hackl and Ashley Hackl, both of Dalton City, IL.; Girlfriend: Emily Burwell of Decatur, IL. and many Aunts and Uncles.
He was preceded in death by his Grandma Norma and Grandpa Richard Hackl; Aunt Christi, Grandma Connie and Grandpa Martin Christensen, all of Decatur, IL.

Dorothy Ann Hagan, 82, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 7:55 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M., Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, April 4, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital.
Dorothy was born on October 26, 1925, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of John and Eva (Denhardt) Tapscott. She married Herbert D. Hagan on December 19, 1991 in Decatur, IL.
Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Decatur, IL. She loved to go camping and fishing with her husband Herb and enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Dorothy was past Senior Regent of the Moose Lodge in Decatur and member of the Golden Girls Bowling Team. She was fondly known as Mrs. Cub here in Decatur, IL.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Herbert of Decatur; son Michael John Screeton and wife Helen of Henderson, NV; sisters Beverly Eustice of Laughlin, NV, and Nancy Carlini of Detroit, MI; brother John Tapscott and wife Hong of Las Vegas, NV; grandson Michael Screeton and great granddaughter Sophia Screeton, both of Clinton, IL; stepchildren Linda Baldwin and husband Ron of Lincoln, IL, Donna Welch and husband Jack of Benson, IL, Lonnie Hagan and wife Wan of San Antonio, TX, Sally Rouche and husband Tom of Elkhart, IN.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one stepson Linn Hagan.

Ruth Caroline Hamm, 90, of Decatur, IL, died 8:58 P.M., Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 22, at Brintlinger & Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Oakley Brick Church or Decatur Church of the Brethren.
Ruth was born February 3, 1918, in Cerro Gordo, IL, the daughter of John F. and Katie Belle (Waltmire) Huff. She was a graduate of Cerro Gordo High School. Ruth married Homer D. Hamm on March 27, 1936 in Covington, IN. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2005.
Ruth was a member of Decatur Church of the Brethren. She worked in housekeeping at St. Mary’s Hospital for 11 years and then as a sales clerk at Newman’s, but Ruth’s first priority was being a wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children Ramona Taylor and husband Jim of Decatur, IL, Larry Hamm and wife Judy of Decatur, IL, Robert Hamm and wife Diane of Decatur, IL, Jerry Hamm and wife Vicki of Elkhart, IL; one granddaughter and 5 grandsons; 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Kerry Hamm, two brothers and two sisters.

Darrel was born May 17, 1924, in Mt. Zion, IL, the son of Charles B. and Pearl (Travis) Hartwig. He married Margaret Cunningham on September 27, 1947, in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on September 25, 1993.
Darrel retired from Mueller Company of Decatur. He was a member of Moose Lodge #684, V.F.W. Post #99 of Decatur, IL, Elks Lodge #401 and was a WWII Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his sons Stephen Hartwig and wife Suzanne of Decatur, IL, Jack Hartwig and wife Gail of Galena, IL, Gregory Hartwig and wife Alyce of Myakka City, FL, Joseph Hartwig of Rockledge, FL; Eight grandchildren and Four great-grandchildren; brother Donald E. Hartwig and wife Virginia of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Richard L. Hastings, 50, of Niantic, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, in his home.
Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Thursday, November 15, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Richard was born March 5, 1957, in Decatur, the son of Wendell and Fern (Augustus) Hastings. He married Edith Mae Noble June 24, 2006, in Harristown. Richard worked as a millwright for JaHamm, and he formerly worked at Crown Cork and Seal in Warrensburg.
He is survived by his wife Edith of Niantic; mother Fern Hastings of Maroa; step-son Joshua (Jodi) Bradley of Niantic; daughter Lisa M. Meisner of Lincoln; son Josh A. Hastings of Tucson, AZ; brother Larry (Barb) Hastings of Maroa; sister Shirley Hastings of Maroa; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Wendell, sister Rose Peckham, and brother Walter Allen Hastings.

Robert Lee “Bob” Heim, 88, of Decatur, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 29, at Concordia Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Friday, March 28, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in the New Douglas cemetery, New Douglas, IL.
Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church.
Mr. Heim was born April 21, 1919, in Livingston, IL, the son of Theodore and Laura (Michelar) Heim. He married Doris Binney in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1984. In November of 1987, he married Florine Hughey in Tennessee. Mr. Heim served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and helped in freeing prisoners of war from concentration camps. He worked as an accountant for Illinois Power (Ameren), retiring in 1984. He was an avid gardener in his younger years, enjoyed traveling, and was an active bowler. He was a member of Central Illinois Gem and Mineral Club, having held many offices. He made jewelry with the rock that he found. He was also a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Mr. Heim is survived by his wife Florine of Decatur; stepson Robert (Cynthia) Hadden of Beulah, WY; sisters Doris Van Hooser of Livingston, IL and Dorothy Nagel of Jump River, WI; brother-in-law Everett Ruedebusch of Sioux Falls, SD; Grandson Russell Hadden of Beulah, WY; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Doris, sister Helen, and brother Kenneth.

Eugene Helm

Eugene Helm, 85, of Boody, IL, passed away Friday, October 12, 2007 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation 5-8 p.m., Monday, October 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to DMH Cancer Care.
Mr. Helm was born on March 6, 1922, in Constantine, KY, the son of Ernest and Nora (Pierce) Helm. He married Faye Maxine Cropper on April 17, 1943 in St. Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2006.
Mr. Helm served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He previously worked as a auto and truck mechanic and was a truck driver for construction companies for many years before retiring. He attended Boody Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his children Dale L. Helm of Assumption, IL; Shirley J. Farr and husband Michael R. of Oreana, IL; Randall P. Helm and wife Ruth of Decatur, IL; Terry G. Helm and wife Brenda of Decatur, IL; Carolyn S. Damery and husband Jeff of Mt. Zion, IL; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and brother Robert T. Helm of Missouri.
Mr. Helm was preceded in death by his parents and sister Hazel Walch.
