Debarah Ann Jarvis, 55, of Decatur, died at 7:04 A.M. Feb. 1, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00PM, Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Decatur, IL.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Columbarium at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Memorials may be made to the Decatur Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Arrangements by Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home.
Debarah was born on May 19, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Holly Jarvis and Mary (Gorham) Jarvis.
She worked in the child day care industry for many years as a preschool teacher. Debarah was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Decatur Chapter).
She is survived by her step-mother: Margaret Jarvis of Decatur, IL.; brothers: Mark Jarvis and his wife Vicky of Springfield, IL., Charles Jarvis and wife Suellen of Decatur, IL., Willard Jarvis and wife Elaine of Arlington Heights, IL.; nieces and nephews: Jaci, Mike, Paul, Diana, Nicole, and Kelly.
Debarah was preceded in death by her parents.

David Michael Johnson

David Michael Johnson, 63, of Decatur, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He died at 11:00 P.M., Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 2, 2007, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 2, at the church and 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday,
November 1, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to L.S.A. or Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO.
David was born September 26, 1944, in St. Elmo, IL, the son of Paul Robert and Helen Elizabeth (Darnell) Johnson. He married Linda K. (Staley) Green on November 19, 1988 in Decatur, IL.
David was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years before retiring in 1994. David was a member of The Early Idlers Car Club and past announcer at Motion Raceway. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam war and was a member of American Legion Post #105.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Decatur, IL; children Justin Michael Johnson and wife Leah of Wheaton, IL, Jeanna Arfsten and husband Darryl of Jacksonville, FL; step-son Robert Green of Rochester, NY; grandchildren Taylor White, Caroline Johnson, Dana Arfsten, Olivia Johnson, Lennon Green, Kurt Arfsten, Lilian Johnson; mother Helen Johnson of St. Elmo, IL; brother Paul Johnson and wife Connie of Leander, TX; sisters Becky Carroll and husband Charles of Ramsey, IL, Heidi Wilscoz and husband Ray of St. Peters, MO; brother-in-law Lee Miller of Pana, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister Sallie Miller.

Esther Nadine Johnson

Esther Nadine Johnson, 98, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 7:55 A.M., Thursday, April 3, 2008, at McKinley Court, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 7, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, April 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church.
Esther was born May 30, 1909, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Charles Edwin and Cassie (Herman) Witts. Her mother passed away when Esther was 4 years old, and she was raised by her father and his second wife, Pearl Edith (Hunter) Witts, the woman she dearly loved and knew as her mother. She married Claude W. Wilkinson on October 9, 1931 and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1965. She later married Morris M. Johnson on September 17, 1971 and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1988.
Esther was a 70 year member of Trueblood Memorial E.U.B. Church, where she was involved in WSWS and taught Sunday School from the time she was 14 years old. Upon Trueblood’s closing in 2002, she became a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. Esther dearly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and walked daily with him. She loved her family unconditionally and treasured times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Janice Nadine Gulick and husband Richard of Decatur, IL; granddaughters Martha Leeper and husband Tom, Karyn Hortin and husband Mike, all of Decatur, IL; great grandchildren Jarred, Evan and Jenna Leeper, Addison and Dale Hortin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and one brother, Charles E. Witts.

Ted E. Johnson

Ted E. Johnson, 74, of Cerro Gordo, IL, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
Ted was born August 27, 1933, in Coe, IN, the son of William W. and Lena (McNew) Johnson. He married Gloria McNicol in Ely, Nevada in 1951.
Ted worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 40 years and was chairman of Bargaining Committee for Local 751. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. Ted was affiliated with Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria of Cerro Gordo, IL; mother Lena of Princeton, IN; sons Ted E. Johnson II and wife Arlene of Sevierville, TN, Steve S. Johnson and wife Ericka of Sevierville, TN; brother William Ray “Billy” Johnson of Princeton, IN; sister Judith Ann Hume and husband Lindel of Princeton, IN; brother Jerry W. Johnson of Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father William and daughter Diane Velek.

Rick D. Jones

Rick D. Jones, 53, of Decatur passed away at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Services to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 P.M., on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, Illinois, with visitation 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., on Sunday, November 18 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Point Pleasant cemetery in Long Creek.
Rick was born March 8, 1954 in Decatur, the son of Hubert W. “Pooch” and Patricia (Kline) Jones. He graduated Lakeview High School in 1973. Rick married Denise Klingaman on July 23, 1972, she preceded him in death in 1989. Together, they had three children. He married Patty Eichenauer on April 8, 1990. Together, they had one son. Rick served 29 years with the Decatur Police Department. His hire date was September 14, 1978. He was promoted to Detective in 1986. In 1992 he was promoted to Sergeant. From 1999- 2007 he also assumed the role Bike Patrol Officer/Coordinator. He was awarded the department’s highest award of valor in 2005. During his career he was awarded 12 letters of commendation. He was a dedicated officer always in pursuit of the bad guys. He retired on September 28, 2007. He was an avid golfer, sports fan, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and a great friend to many. He passed away in Myrtle Beach, his favorite place to vacation with his buddies and younger brother.
He is survived by wife Patty of Decatur, IL, sons Jeremy (Lisa) of Columbia, SC, Ricky (Diedre) of Charleston, SC, and Jacob of Decatur, IL, daughter Melissa (Ryan) Wuellner of Brookings, SD, brother Mark “Smirk” (Lisa) of Decatur, IL, sisters Robin Bowman of Decatur, IL and Candy Kretsinger of Champaign, IL, four grandsons, one granddaughter, and one grandson on the way and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, mother, and father.

Amelia May Jones, 78, of Decatur, passed away at 5:34 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Mt. Gilead cemetery, Decatur. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macon County Humane Society or to the animal rescue group of your choice.
Amelia was born on December 21, 1929, in Decatur, the daughter of Evans William and Delma (Lane) Manion. She married John Paul Jones, Sr. on March 20, 1952, in Decatur. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1984.
Amelia was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Nazarene. She was employed by Sears for 20 years, enjoyed playing Bingo, and loved her pets, especially Tinkerbell.
Surviving are her children Sharon Goodfield and husband Alan of Springfield, IL; Delma Backs and husband Dale of Lawrence, KS; John P. Jones, Jr. and wife Lana; Mike Jones and wife Jan; Zoethel M. Carron and husband Rick; and David L. Jones and wife Lena, all of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Charlie E. Jones, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
The family wishes to give thanks to Dr. McCormack, and Wilma, Amelia’s home care provider, for their kind and compassionate care.

Monkota (Koty) Osrow Karnes, Sr.

Monkota (Koty) Osrow Karnes, Sr. 93, previously of Decatur, Illinois went home to be with his Lord on December 12, 2007. There must be some wonderful rejoicing with loved ones who have gone before!
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, at 10:00 a.m., at the Moundford Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Point Pleasant cemetery, Long Creek, Illinois. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, Illinois is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Oakdale Christian Academy, 5801 Beattyville Rd., Jackson, KY 41339.
Koty was born on March 8, 1914 in Schram City, Illinois, the son of Albert Osrow and Johanna Matilda Warner Karnes. He married Alice Louise Stone on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941. Koty was a resident of Decatur for over 50 years and then Lakeland, Florida before moving to McCormick, South Carolina in 2002.
Koty was in the CCC’’s during the Depression and served four years in the US Army during WWII. He worked at Mueller Company and then was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for many years, retiring in 1974. He became a 50 year member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and was a member of the local Chapter 317. He held several offices in the local and state chapters. He was very active in the Decatur Trades and Labor Assembly and was the chairman and marshal of the Labor Day parade for 10 years---leading it with his decorated tricycle.
Koty was the first one gallon blood donor for the Red Cross in Macon County. He drove the bus for Sunday School and CYC for 37 years for the Decatur Moundford Free Methodist Church. Many children were able to attend services and youth events because of his dedication over the years.
He is survived by his son Monkota (Monty) Karnes, Jr. of Michigan; daughter Karen Wright and husband Earl of McCormick, SC; daughter-in-law Judi Casey and husband Frank of Royal Palm Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice of 63 years, son, Thomas Edwin, grand-daughter Monica, brother and sister-in-law, Kennes and Mabel Karnes and sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Ronald Stein. The three couples were able to celebrate shared anniversaries together for almost 50 years.
He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed, but we can’’t wish him back to the suffering he endured. We know he is in a better place now.

Memorials may be made to the Niantic United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Keenan was born November 6, 1941, in Decatur, the daughter of John H. and Verna E. Peck. She married Bobby K. Keenan in St. Elmo, IL, June 18, 1961. Mrs. Keenan worked for Federal Kemper Insurance in Decatur for over twenty years. She was a member of the Niantic United Methodist Church. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s activities and camping at the lake. She loved and enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Bob of Decatur; daughter Tanya K. Walker and husband Steve of Springfield; son Bryan K. Keenan and wife Stephanie of Niantic; grandchildren: Tyler K. Walker of Springfield, Alexandra R. Keenan of Niantic, Chase H. Walker of Springfield, Grace A. Walker of Springfield, and Shelby M. Keenan of Niantic; father Hugh S. Peck and wife Lorna of Moweaqua; brothers and sisters: Jack (Bill) Peck and wife Marylyn of Decatur; Mary E. Jordan of Decatur; Shirley A. Price of Decatur; Robert R. Peck and wife Nancy of Decatur; Richard D. Peck and wife Marilyn of Cookeville, TN; James B. Peck and wife Susanne of Decatur; Patricia A. Warnick and husband Richard of Monticello; Thomas A. Peck and wife Janet of Ellisville, MO; John (Herb) Kissell and wife Christine of Decatur; Kathy J. Moore and husband Rob of Decatur; Dana L. Lercher of Cerro Gordo; Dee Anne Rufty and husband Gary of Moweaqua; Jeffrey Peck and wife Cynthia of Moweaqua; Lisa M. Stevens and husband Michael of Mattoon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Verna E. Peck, mother Kathleen J.Kissell and husband Joseph Kissell, Jr., and brother Vern A. Peck
