Alta Leota Naber, 79, peacefully surrendered into the Lord’s arms Sunday, December 30, 2007, with all of her children by her side.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 4, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 4 to 8 P.M., Thursday, January 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Hospital - ICU.
Alta was born July 31, 1928, to Joseph and Alta L. Owens in Todd’s Point, IL. She was married
to Edward William Naber from November 28, 1946 until his death on October 28, 2003.
Alta was a member of the Elwin Methodist Church and raised her six children in this church. She had been employed by the GE plant in Decatur and for many years by Kirlins at its downtown location.
Surviving Alta are the pride and joy of her life, her six children: Nancy Goss of Shelbyville, IN, Shirley (Jim) Cairns of Mt. Zion, IL, Dan (Brenda) Naber of Mt. Zion, IL, Kathy Browne of Chandler AZ, Diana Janowiak of Mt. Zion, IL, Jeanne Baietto of Mt. Zion, IL. Alta’s other enjoyments were her grandchildren. They include Jevon (Danielle) Thomas, Seth and Chase Naber, Joe Kellogg, Dalton Janowiak, and Nick Baietto, all of Mt. Zion, Ashley (Jim) Chumbley of Decatur, IL, Travis and Stephanie Naber of LaSalle-Peru, Jason and Allison Browne of Chandler, AZ, Michelle Kell of Nineveh, IN, Marselle Whittington of Hope, IN and Miranda Anderson of Columbus, IN and great grandchildren Melinda, Austin, Bryce and Carly Thomas of Mt. Zion, IL, Hunter and unborn baby of Decatur, IL, Shelby and Bryan of Nineveh, IN, Jacob and Jaiden of Columbus, IN, and Kimberly, Kelsay, James, and Sully of Hope, IN, Other survivors include sisters Inez of Pennsylvania and Leota of Decatur, and a niece Beverly Ellinger of Decatur.
Our mother was a strong and beautiful woman that had the courage to face anything that came her way. She cherished all the family times with her children and their families with all of her heart. Mothers time with us was short, yet so precious, she will never be forgotten. “Mom, we will love you forever and always.”
The family wishes to express a very grateful “Thank-you” to the doctors, the nurses, especially Kandi, Carla, DaNiel, and Bethany and the entire intensive care unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care and love shown to our mother and the family during her stay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, and grandson Craig Kellogg.

William “Bill” A. Nash, Jr., 77, of Decatur, passed away at 9:11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hall cemetery, Blue Mound, IL.

Bill was born on March 9, 1931, in Decatur, the son of William Arthur Nash, Sr. and Dorothy (Goodpasture) Nash. He married
Nina Froedge on August 3, 1951, in Decatur. Bill previously worked as a millwright at Wagner Casting Company.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years Nina of Decatur, IL; children Cathy Garrett and husband Fred of Reno, NV; William Allan Nash and wife Paula of Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren Gary Garrett and wife Courtney, Laura Johnson and husband Jeremiah, Kimberly Garrett, William “Billy” Nash, Rachael Rhoades and husband Josiah; four great grandchildren; sisters Irene Brownlee of Decatur, IL; Anneta Aubert of Decatur, IL; Carol Mason and husband Paul of Peoria, IL; Doris Knight of Sarasota, FL; Janet Bonds and husband Richard of Pace, FL; brothers Jim Nash and wife Janet of Decatur, IL; Allan Nash and wife Carolyn of Decatur, IL; special sisters-in-law Wanda Freese and Earlene Chapman, and his Shih Tzu Daisy.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son Gregory Phillip Nash, one brother, and 5 sisters.
Bill was deeply loved by his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and brother. Bill was a kind gentle man loved by all. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Charles Hansen Newgard, 55, of Decatur, IL, officially died at 11:43 P.M. on Sunday, February 10, 2008, in Decatur, IL.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, from 5 to 8 P.M. at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, at 11:00 A.M., at First Lutheran Church, 250 West Decatur Street, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 1:30 P.M. Monday, February 18, 2008.

Charles Hansen Newgard was born in Parkersburg, Iowa on September 13, 1952, the son of Robert and Virginia (Hansen) Newgard. Chuck graduated from New Hartford High School, New Hartford, Iowa and Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. He married
Lola Nelson on June 14, 1975 in McCallsburg, Iowa. Chuck and Lola have three children: Eric, Alison, and Kyle.
In 1974 he began work for ADM Cornsweetners in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was transferred to the Decatur ADM Plant in 1979 and worked as a chemist and a supervisor in the quality control lab. Chuck was an extraordinary employee, always working long hours and going to work extra to help with problems during the nights, weekends, and holidays. Although not on call, he had been called to help with a problem at ADM on the evening of his death.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, was an active adult in Boy Scout Troop 202, was involved with the Decatur Sister City program, was a dedicated and loving husband and father, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiiing, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lola; son, Eric Charles Newgard of Lincoln, NE; daughter Alison Lee Newgard of Chicago, IL; and son, Kyle Alan Newgard, at home. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia Newgard, sister Kathy (Scott) Cessna, both of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and brother, Jim Newgard of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his mother and father in-law, Raymond and Opal Nelson of St. Anthony, IA; brother and sister in-laws, Loyd (Diane) Nelson of Marshalltown, IA; Rita (Daryl) Dudley of Columbia, MO; Ruth (Doug) Halvorsen of New Providence, IA; and 10 nieces and nephews: Lorraine (Ryan) Hatkawski, Christine Newgard, Matt and Kim Cessna, Bryce, Amber, and Breanne Nelson, and Brett, Bart, and Betsey Halvorsen.
Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
The Newgard family extends their heartfelt sympathy to the family of Jeff Miller, who died with Chuck.

Decatur - Edgar E. “Pete” Nicholls, 84, of Decatur died 2:17 AM, June 1, 2008 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Point Pleasant cemetery.
Memorials may be made to glad Tidings Assembly of God.
“Pete” was born on June 22, 1923 in his family home at the North End of Sunnyside Road, the son of Earl O. and Myrtle E. Leonard Nicholls. She was a homemaker and he was a dairy farmer.
He leaves his loving wife’ Betty J., sons, Mark, David, Peter, Tim, and step-daughter Sue Siburt; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and 2 step-brothers, Jack and Roger Zollars .
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Mervil, Dean, Herb, Bob and step-son Mark Mull.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII - taking “airborne training”in 1943. He was stationed at Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall N.C. He was also deployed to New Guinea, Leyte, Luzon, and the Phillipines. He received many decorations, including the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 2 Bronze Service Stars, 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, and Phillipine Liberation Ribbon. He was badly wounded on Luzon, where he lost parts of both hands by covering a live grenade with his helmet, saving the lives of two soldiers. He was honorably discharged August 21, 1946.
“Pete” was manager of Standard Veterinary Distributing Co. for 30 years. He loved to play many rounds of golf at Nelson Park.
In 1991 during the “Gulf War” he authored a book titled “Heroes in Our Midst”, a compilation of veterans in Macon County, from Desert Storm, to WWI. “Pete” was also the inspiration that spearheaded the construction of the WWII Memorial to be located in Decatur.
January 2002, he started a drive to place the “Blue Star Service Banners” back in veterans front windows.
“Pete” was a “Life Member” of American Legion Post 105, Disabled American Veterans Post 17, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 99, Military Order of Purple Heart, National WWII Memorial Charter Member. He was Commander of American Legion Post 105 in 1955 and 19th District Commander of the American Legion in 1965.
“Pete” was a life long Cubs Fan. He loved the “American Flag” and always had one on display on his person, house, or car.
He loved to go to Sunday services at Glad Tidings Assembly of God to hear Pastor B.G. Nevitt.
Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements.

Robin was born July 18, 1988, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Robert Alderson Sr. and Kimberly Haines. She married
her husband, Timmy, on July 7, 2007.
Robin was an amazing wife and enjoyed flying kites.
Surviving are her husband, Timothy Nichols of Decatur, her mother Kimberly Haines and husband Gary Haines of Decatur; her father, Robert Alderson Sr. and wife Nancy Grybb of Decatur; maternal grandparents Mary and Lawrence Lewis of Decatur; parental grandparents Marge and Cecil Alderson of Blue Mound, IL her siblings Ashley Dupont of Atlanta, GA, Trevor Dupont of Lake Placid, NY, Kari Dupont of Decatur, IL, Mindy Stader of Lafayette, IN and Robert Alderson, Jr. of Lafayette, IN . She will also be missed by her 5 step-siblings, 5 nieces, 3 nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, her Subway co-wokers and her beloved “Kit Kat.”

Betty M. Norrington, 82, of Decatur, IL, entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 1:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 27, 2008, in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 3, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, March 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Children’s Museum of Illinois.
Betty was born March 3, 1925, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William Oscar and Mable (Wright) Pier. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1943 and worked at Illinois Bell Telephone for 25 years as a service representative. Betty was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she volunteered for the Grace United Methodist Park Program. She also volunteered at the Children’s Museum. Betty was a member of Telephone Pioneers and was affiliated with the American Business Women’s Association Decatur Charter Chapter #4009. She was an avid sports fan, and especially liked the CUBS.
She is survived by her children Michael P. Norrington of Carbondale, IL, Susan Longfellow and husband Jack of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Tamara Evey of Edwardsville, IL, Brad Gillespie of Indianapolis, IN, Todd Norrington and wife Dannyel of Carterville, IL, Lori Gillespie of Champaign, IL, Chris Norrington and wife Hollie of Murphysboro, IL; great grandchild Olivia Lynn Norrington of Carterville, IL; sisters Mildred Dreasher, Jane Gaffron, Pauline Wingfield, Patricia Bell, all of Decatur, IL, Leona Seymour of Dunkirk, MD, Mary Ann Andrews and husband Keith of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy Simroth and husband Don of Charlottesville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Deborah Norrington, sister Katherine Barnes and brothers John Pier and William Pier.

Clarence W. Nyboer

Clarence W. Nyboer, 86, of Decatur, passed away at 1:05 P.M. Monday, November 26, 2007 at Manor Care Health Services.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, with Rev. Richard Nyboer, son, and Rev. Don Horath officiating. Internment will be following services at Friends Creek cemetery near Argenta, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. and last until the service of Thursday.
Clarence was born November 2, 1921 in Harvard, Illinois, the only son of Stuart and Ida Nyboer. He married
Hilah L. (Fulton) Nyboer in 1945. Three sons: Richard Stuart, Randy Warren, and Robert Dale are the result of this marriage. Daughter Rebecca Lynn passed as an infant. Clarence later married
Thelma Irene (Meador) Nyboer in 1978, who remains as his loving wife at this time.
Clarence was a talented man in many endeavors. In his early years, he played baseball for the Rochester Redwings, a minor league team in New York. At that time he was also quite the violinist and was invited to play with the Rochester Orchestra, of which he declined. He instead worked with his father, Stuart as a brick mason. He developed this skill to an artisan level and was often asked to use his skills on special stone and brick projects by those who knew of his talents. Several of his works may still be seem in homes around the Decatur area.
He joined the Army Air Corp in W.W.II and was trained to be a navigator / gunner on B-24 bombers. Prior to being deployed to the European theater, Clarence was severely injured in an accident and later received an Honorable Discharge.
Clarence enjoyed life to the fullest, especially when he could be in the out-of-doors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. There was nothing more enjoyable to him than to be drifting on a northern lake, fishing for walleye. He was also a student of history. In his later years, he studied the history of the United States, World Wars, and nature, in general. The Cubs were a passion for him as he always was waiting for next year.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma, his sons, Richard (wife Jody and son, Jeremiah Wolf, sons Brodie and Josh Nyboer); Randy (wife Melissa and children, Aaron, Ryan, and Rachel); and Robert (wife Christine). He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet (Swinsick) Nyboer, who passed earlier this fall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Decatur Public Library ( contact Shelia, ext.100) or the Illinois Wildlife Preservation Fund (IDNR, One Natural Resources Way, Springfield, Illinois 62702-1271).
