Lewis A. Perkins, 88 of Sycamore, formerly of Milford died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007 at the Bethany Health Care and Rehab Center in Dekalb.
He was born Oct. 10, 1919 in Cerro Gordo. The son of Lewis A. and Clara (Mikels) Perkins, Sr. He married Betty Lieberman on March 17, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. Lewis was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked as an agronomist for Crow's Hybrid in Milford for many years. He was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church.
Lewis is survived by 3 sons, Michael (Margie) Perkins of Middleton, OH, Richard (Cheryl) Perkins of Walla Walla, WA, and Jim (Nancy) Perkins of Sycamore; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and his cousin, Dorothy Mikels of TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1996 and 2 cousins, Jack and Harold Mikels.
His Funeral Service will be at Noon on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be at the Cerro Gordo cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until Noon at the Funeral Home.

Marjorie Wilson Pettypool

Marjorie Wilson Pettypool, 96, of Decatur, made her transition into her next life at 10:45 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2007, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Zion, IL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2008, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 3, at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or donor’s choice.
Marjorie was born on December 9, 1911, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Daisy (Simpson) Hiles. She married Thomas W. Wilson in October 1949, in Canada. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1980. She then married Charles E. Pettypool on May 15, 1982, in Decatur.
Marjorie studied art at Ecole DeBeaux Arts in Montreal, Canada and Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. She owned Lamplight Gallery, where she taught art, and then later taught art at her home. Marjorie was also commissioned as a commercial artist and has worked on displays at many area businesses. She was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Charles of Decatur; daughters M. Diane Pettypool of Murphysboro, IL; Sandra Payne and husband John of Decatur, IL; granddaughter Anne Payne Brummerstedt and husband Michael of Decatur; great grandchildren Adrien and Lexi of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews in Canada.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Thomas, brothers Charles and Ainslie Hiles, grandsons Robert Thomas Payne and John L. Payne, Jr.

Patricia A. Pickett

Patricia A. (Cook) Pickett, 79, of Decatur, IL., died on Friday (05-02-2008) at 4:06 P.M. in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday (05-06-2008) at Westminster Presbyterian Church Decatur, IL., with visitation on Monday (05-05-2008) from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be at Oak Ridge cemetery, Springfield, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to: Westminster Presbyterian Church or purchase books for your public school library in her honor.
Patricia was born on August 4, 1928 in Springfield, IL., the daughter of David Ernest Cook and Mary Theresa (Stroble) Cook. She married Boyce W. Pickett on September 28, 1947 in Springfield, IL.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Patricia also worked with her husband at Pickett’s Grill in the Eldorado Bowl. She was manager of the Illinois State P.T.A. and office receptionist at Hickory Point Mall, troop leader for the Girl and Boy Scouts of America, member of the P.T.A., A.B.W.A. Alpha Iota Sorority, and formerly a Red Cross volunteer.
She is survived by her husband Boyce of sixty years, children: Mary Alice Pickett of New Port Richey, FL.; David Pickett of Decatur, IL.; and Jamie Pickett of New Port Richey, FL.; sister: Marjorie Krell and husband Alvin of Springfield, IL.; several sisters and brothers in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Anne Pistorius
December 18, 1950 - October 26, 2007

Anne “Penny” Pistorius, 56, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Blue Mound, IL, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007 from a heart attack.
Visitation and Remembrances will be 4-6 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2007 at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody, IL, followed by graveside services in Hall cemetery, Blue Mound, IL.
Memorials may be given to DOVE, Inc.
Penny was born on December 18, 1950 to the late George Meisenhelter II and Patricia (Meisenhelter) Campbell. She graduated from Blue Mound High School and MTI Massage Therapy School, and had her own massage business at Unique Boutique in Mt. Zion, IL. She also assisted in bookkeeping for the Wharf and was a care provider for Robert (Bob) Sleeper.
Penny was very proud of and loved spending time with her grandchildren Kayla Richardson, Paige and Kaitlyn Foster, Taylor and Jesse Damery, and Wyatt Wilcox. She also loved working in her yard and flower gardens, painting, shopping, spending time with her family and friends, and going to the Wharf.
She is survived by her children Lynn (Tammy) Wilcox of Blue Mound, IL; Kari Foster of Farina, IL; and Mindy (Brian) Damery of Blue Mound, IL; mother Patricia (Meisenhelter) Campbell of Decatur, IL; sisters Jane Griffin, Sue Howland, Cathy Cratty, Cathi Ooton ; brother George Meisenhelter III; and several nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her father George Meisenhelter II, step father Robert Campbell and her beloved grandparents.
Penny was a very loving and giving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.

Laura Ann Powers

Laura Ann Suhl Powers, 39, of Peoria, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at Sharon Elm Nursing Home, Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Boiling Springs cemetery, Decatur.
Memorials may be made to Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
Laura was born on April 3, 1968, in Decatur, the daughter of Richard E. and Shirley (Smith) Suhl. She married Hayden Powers. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her father Richard of Decatur; brothers David Suhl Denison and wife Sheli of Umatilla, FL, Rick Suhl, Sean Suhl, Todd Suhl, all of Decatur, and Jason Suhl, serving in the U.S. Army. Also surviving are two nieces and two nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her mother.

Carmelita Hazelrigg Pullins

Jesus came for Carmelita Hazelrigg Pullins, 89, of Decatur, IL, at 1:50 P.M., on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 18, 2008, at Hidden Valley Community Church, (one block north of Pershing and one block east of Woodford), Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Hidden Valley Community Church, 1635 Huston Drive, Decatur, IL 62526.
Carmelita was born December 2, 1918, in Winchester, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lecie (Smith) Hazelrigg. She married Billie M. Pullins on October 20, 1935, in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2002.
Carmelita was a member of Hidden Valley Community Church.
She is survived by her daughter Kay Tuggle and husband Stanley of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Brett M. Pullins and wife April of Groveland, IL, Todd M. Tuggle and wife Jennifer of Niantic, IL, Rick M. Pullins and wife Pam of Decatur, IL; 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billie (Dink) Pullins, son Richard (Dick) Pullins.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Nursing Staff at Keystone Meadows and her caregiver and special friend Kelly Roth.

Dorothy Verna (Ensminger) Pyle

Dorothy Verna (Ensminger) Pyle passed on Sunday morning, December 16, 2007 in Decatur, Illinois.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 27 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be in Grove City cemetery in Rural Mt. Auburn.
Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
She was born in Bolivia, Illinois in Christian County on March 30, 1917. She was the third daughter born to Charles Elmer and Francis Fern (Smith) Ensminger. She was orphaned at the age of four and raised by her paternal grandparents.
She went to Bolivia Grade School and then on to Mt. Auburn High School where she graduated in 1935. She married Noble W. Pyle on February 1st 1941 in the Methodist Church parsonage in Mt. Auburn, IL. They lived in the Peoria area until the war called upon her husband to serve. She then moved to Decatur to be closer to family and to start working for Black & Co. She was a bookkeeper and file clerk at Black & Co. and then Illinois Power during the 40's and 50's. She became a full-time homemaker to be home for her son. She was a room mother at Oak Grove School and a den mother for the Cub Scouts (Pack 30). Her house was tournament central for all the kids in the neighborhood as they knew they were always welcome.
She worked in the billing department at St. Mary’s Hospital to support her son’s college education. After leaving St. Mary’s she spent her time oil painting and reading everything she could get her hands on. She was instrumental in passing to her grandchildren the passion of reading.
She is mother to Steve Pyle (Beth) of rural Decatur, and grandmother to Mike Pyle, London England, and Kate Pyle, Cambridge, MA. She has 21 nieces and nephews that she loved like her own and they in return had a special place in their hearts for Aunt Dot. Those preceding her in death were her husband, two sisters, Marjorie and Marcella, and half brother Charles Ensminger.
Her last year of life was spent at Lincoln Manor. At first she was not happy there, but in time she made many friendships with the other residents and the staff. Her family can’t thank all the folks at Lincoln Manor enough for their kindness and understanding.

Virginia L. Raffety

Virginia L. Raffety, 76, of Decatur, IL, died 6:15 P.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Memorials may be made to Virginia L. Raffety Fund.
Virginia was born July 23, 1931, in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Earl F. and Myrtie A. (Deverick) May. She worked as a C.N.A. and loved painting, crocheting, and ceramics, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children Terry Raffety and wife Janet of Minerville, PA, Timothy Raffety of Colorado Springs, CO, Rebecca Renier and husband Ivory of Springfield, IL, Robin Collins and husband Jerry of Auburn, AL, Tami Noble and husband Larry of Decatur, IL; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; brother Earl May, Jr. and wife Melinda of Decatur, IL; sisters Loretta Doyle and husband Lee of Blue Mound, IL, Elaine Hoose and husband John of Clinton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Muneses, Dr. Verma, and Dr. Roy and the entire I.C.U. staff at St. Mary’s Hospital.
