Robert D. Ritter, 65, of Forsyth, IL, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007, as the result of a brain tumor.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 P.M., Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. on Monday, October 1, 2007, at Sharon United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL.
Memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church Bell Choir or Maroa-Forsyth School District towards a Robert Ritter Memorial Fund.
Robert began his teaching career at Mt. Zion Junior High School in 1964 and retired from the Maroa-Forsyth School District in 2004, serving 28 years as Principal of Forsyth Elementary School. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Millikin University and an Administrative Certificate from Eastern Illinois University.
He married L. Diane Zeeb in Blue Mound, IL on November 26, 1964 and she survives. Also surviving are his son Kraig and his wife Kelly and their children Hannah, Jairon and Charlie of Forsyth, IL; daughter Kristin and her husband Robert Dahlke and their children Daniel, Patrick and Caroline of Northbrook, IL; mother Esther Ritter Buchter of Rochester, IL; brother Richard and his wife Carol of Flanagan, IL.
His father, John Ritter, preceded him in death.

DECATUR - Helen M. Rohm, 81, of Decatur, died 3:49 AM Tuesday January 1, 2008 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Friday, January 4, 2008, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 5:30 PM. Burial will be conducted at St. Mary’s cemetery, in Paris, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
Helen was born September 26, 1926, in Paris, IL, the daughter of Cyril and Clelah (Brading) Waller. She married William L. Rohm on April 12, 1951 in Paris, IL, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2004.
Helen was a unit manager at Decatur Memorial Hospital and worked there until her retirement. She especially loved her family and children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. . She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a volunteer at the church food pantry. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s chapel and Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her six children, Tom (wife, Sue) Mercer, of Parthenon, Arkansas; Richard Rohm, of Phoenix, AZ; Bill (wife, Teri) Rohm, of Mabank, Texas; Judy Layette, of Lockport, IL; Cindy Hansen, of Decatur; Sharon Rohm, of Decatur; two sisters, Ruth (husband, Connie) Ashley, of Paris, IL; Hazel Smith (twin sister), of Bradenton, FL; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Also preceding in death are both parents; one brother, Bob Waller; and two sisters, Dorothy Covert and Erma Waller, and one grandson.

Zelma Marie Rosser

Zelma Marie Rosser, 81, formerly of Decatur died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at her residence in Warrenton, Missouri.
Zelma was born July 14, 1926 in Sikeston, Missouri.
She married B. V. Rosser on October, 17, 1947 in Centralia, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 3 at the First Baptist Church at noon with visitation prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Decatur.
Mrs. Rosser was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur where she served in many capacities as teacher, Board member, and President of American Baptist Women. In addition, she was a teacher at Progress Resource Center for 18 years and Program Director at Woodford Homes.
Surviving are sons Marvin Rosser and wife Debbie of Peoria, Ill, Glenn Rosser and wife Brenda of Foristell, Mo., daughter-in-law Jo Ellen Rosser, Cumming, GA seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. preceded in death by her husband and son, Ralph Rosser.

Richard Ryan

Richard “Dick” Ryan, of Moweaqua, IL, formerly of Warrensburg, IL, died at home Friday, March 7, 2008.
Memorial services will be 11:30 A.M., Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be following the service at 1:00 P.M., at Camp Butler National cemetery, Riverton, IL, with military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard and U.S. Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Richard was born on December 28, 1928, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of William L. Ryan and Esther (Evey) Ryan. He married Janice L. Cooper on February 18, 1950. He retired from Caterpillar in 1986 after 31 years of service and was a member of Caterpillar Retirees. In retirement, he and his wife traveled the country in their 5th wheel home. He enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. Always helpful, he never met a stranger. Richard was a Democratic Precinct Committeeman in the 1960' and 70's. He also served on the Warrensburg Village Board and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #99 and member of U.A.W. Local #751.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; daughters Susan Quarles (Bud) of Champaign; Carol Dirks (John) of Moweaqua; and son Rick of Decatur and four grandsons, Devin (Andrea) and Drew Quarles; Justin and Kyle Dirks and one great-grandson Isaak Quarles. He is also survived by his sister Delora Burris (Kenneth) of Lake Village, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Louise Ann Sandstrom

Louise Ann Sandstrom, 66, of Decatur, went to her heavenly rest at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2008, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur with the Rev. Father Stephen Rudolphi and Rev. Father Joseph Molloy officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead cemetery in Decatur. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur.
Louise Sandstrom was born on January 1, 1942, in Wendelin to John and Bertha (Weber) Rudolphi. On July 3, 1982, she married Robert Sandstrom at St. Patrick Church in Decatur. For forty years she worked at NECA-IBEW in Decatur, retiring on April 1, 2007.
She was a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church and enjoyed crafts such as sewing, purse and blanket making, and also making jewelry. She loved to spend time with friends and family. She was a true inspiration and beloved by all who knew her. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Sandstrom of Decatur; three brothers, Melvin Rudolphi and wife Helen of Olney, Herman Rudolphi and wife Joan of Noble, Richard Rudolphi and wife Meredith of Noble; two sisters, Dorothy Uebinger of Flora and Marilyn Wheaton and husband Tony of Port Orange, Florida.
Also surviving are her mother-in-law Mary Sandstrom, sisters-in-law Susan Sandstrom, Cathy Sandstrom and Beth Murphy and husband Tom, all of New York; brother-in-law Richard Sandstrom of California. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and an infant brother.
Memorials may be made in Mass Offerings.
–Mom– You are my light and inspiration and always will be. You were the most amazing woman I will ever know. You were not only my mother but my best friend. I cannot describe how much I am going to miss you. I love you with all my heart, Love Sarah.

James Quintus Sanner

James (Jim) Quintus Sanner, 84, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away at Manor Care Health Center on Monday, January 14, 2008, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Visitation will be at the Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Ave, Decatur, from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday, January 17, 2008. The Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 18 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Decatur, with the Rev. Steve Hill presiding. Burial will be in the Point Pleasant cemetery, Long Creek. Memorials: Westminster Presbyterian Church, the Salvation Army, or the National Parkinson’s Association.
James Quintus Sanner was born on the Sanner Farm in Shelby County, Illinois on May 1, 1923, the son of Truman Quintus Sanner and Bernice Ann Jones Sanner. He attended schools in Mt. Zion, Illinois, and the University of Illinois, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Kentucky in 1948. He joined the United States Army in 1943 during World War II and served in the infantry in Europe until 1946. He received a Purple Heart for injuries suffered in Germany and spent a few months in the hospital in England before returning to France for the duration.
After being discharged, he was married on September 1, 1946, to Audrey Gray Owens of Middlesboro, Kentucky. They met while he was stationed for a few months at the University of Kentucky as a member of the Army Specialized Training Program in 1943. He completed his college degree at the University of Kentucky after the war.
After graduation Jim returned to Decatur and was employed by the Gauger and Diehl CPA firm. He became a CPA in 1954 and a partner in Gauger & Diehl in 1958. He was a retired partner of KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, which acquired Gauger & Diehl. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma; the American Institute of CPA’s and the Illinois CPA Society where he served on many committees, including service on the Advisory Council of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, working to protect the operations of county grain elevators; a life member of The Salvation Army Advisory Board and an active member for over 30 years; a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross; and a long time member of the Noon Sertoma Club. Jim was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and an elder and on many committees. He was active with the Presbytery and was on the board of the Titus Home in Sullivan. He was an Illinois PTA life member.
Surviving are Audrey, his wife of 61 years, their 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. They are James David Sanner and wife Amanda Sheedy of Morris, Illinois, and son Jeffrey David Sanner of Chicago, Illinois; Daniel William Sanner and wife Ellen G. Bickers Sanner of Decatur and their daughters, Ragen Elizabeth Sanner of Champaign, Illinois, and Dr. Quinn Danielle Bensi and husband Michael J. Bensi and daughter Aden Gray Bensi of Indianapolis, Indiana; Margaret Gail Sanner of Decatur, Illinois, her son Joseph Owen Cottrell of Decatur and daughter Audra Allison Cottrell of Woodland Hills, California; John Edward Sanner and wife Diane Toben Sanner and sons James William Sanner and Thomas Owen Sanner of Decatur; sister Jewel Sanner Sims and her husband William Sims of Davis, California; brother Samuel Wesley Sanner and his wife Marian Ohm Sanner of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law Mildred Sanner of Moweaqua; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Herbert and wife Mary; Truman and wife Juanita; Karl; Lloyd; and sister Dorothea Sanner.
Jim loved his family and his work, and enjoyed traveling and working with automobiles. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

Adelheid M. Sargent

Adelheid M. (Heidi) Sargent, 78, was welcomed home by the Lord on Thursday evening, February 7, 2008, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who always gave unselfishly to her family and friends and touched many with her smile, friendliness, and caring nature.
Services to celebrate Heidi’s life will be held on Monday, February 11, at 1 PM, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon February 10, from 2-5 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Decatur.
Heidi was born in Patschkau, Germany, on December 14, 1929, the daughter of Martha Hentschel. She married Robert G. (Bob) Sargent on November 7, 1948. Heidi and Bob met while Bob was stationed with the U.S. Army Signal Squadron near Mainbernheim, Germany.
Heidi was a member of the Morningside Chapel Church of Christ. She was also an active member of the Decatur chapter of the German American Club (D.A.N.K.) for over 30 years and was very proud of her German heritage. She was well known for her traditional German dishes and her Christmas cookies and pastries. While being a homemaker, Heidi supported her husband in his business, Bob’s Appliance Service, as his secretary for many years before he retired in 1994.
Heidi is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Bob, of Decatur; two daughters, Annette (husband Ronny) Cornelius of Middleton, TN, Dr. Susie Sargent of Memphis, TN; one son, Robert John (Bobby) Sargent of Decatur, IL; 3 grandchildren, Jon (wife Deanna) Cornelius of Nashville, TN, Beth (husband Mike, Jr.) Waller of Bolivar, TN, and Matthew Sargent of Decatur, IL; 5 great grandchildren, Kate, Ellen, Audrey, Maddie, Brayden; 1 sister, Ursula Johansmeier of Tacoma, WA; 1 brother Kurt (wife Gerta) Hentschel of Mainbernheim, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Hentschel of Mainbernheim, Germany, and sister Rita Williams of Tacoma, WA.
Memorials may be made to the Morningside Chapel Church of Christ of Decatur, IL.
Heidi will be greatly missed by her all of her family and friends.

Edward Jerome Schlieper

Edward Jerome “Jerry” Schlieper, 90, of Decatur, IL, died 7:10 P.M., Tuesday, January 1, 2008, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, January 7, at the funeral home. Graveside service and burial will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 8, in Upper Alton cemetery, Alton, IL. Memorials may be made to Decatur and Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation.
Mr. Schlieper was born March 6, 1917, in Hamburg, IL, the son of Carl Otto and Margaret (Crader) Schlieper. He was a partner of Huss and Schlieper, Inc. and was a member of the Illinois Grain Dealers Association. Mr. Schlieper attended Millikin University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated from the University of Illinois, in 1940, with a degree in mechanical engineering and was a member of the American Society of Engineers. Jerry was a member of Kiwanis Club, for over 50 years, member of Golden K, Decatur Club and South Side Country Club. He served as an elder and deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church, having been a member for 52 years. Jerry married Dorothy Clark on December 24, 1941. She preceded him in death in July 1998. He later married Lois Gonwa on June 7, 2003.
Surviving are his wife, Lois; daughter Judith Sheryl Laronge and husband Thomas of Battle Ground, WA; grandchildren Rebecca Sheryl Smith and husband Alan of Columbia, TN, Susan Chrysan Carlson and husband Scott of Villa Rica, GA, Trevor Allen Bower of Renton, WA; 7 great-grandchildren; stepdaughters Judith Mason and husband Terry of Decatur, IL, Carol Bernard and husband Steve of Couder Sport, PA; 4 step grandchildren; sisters Valera Whyte, Betty Montgomery, Patricia Schiber, Marjorie Turnquist and husband Nels; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Clark Schlieper.
The family of Jerry Schlieper gives special thanks to Dr. Richard Fritz and the DMH 6400 nursing staff.
