DECATUR - Helen Schuman, 89, of Decatur, died 8:55 AM Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Manor Care.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Graceland cemetery.
Helen was born June 16, 1918, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Eva Roderick. She married Carl William Schuman on November 19, 1938, in Decatur.
Helen retired from General Electric. She was a licensed cosmetologist. She enjoyed boating and traveling. Helen was a member of A.B.W.A., Power Squadron, Dolphin Boat Club, G - Key Club, and the National Cosmetologists Association. She was an active member, volunteer and apostolic minister at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Boland and husband, Stan of Forsyth; three grandchildren Daniel Boland and wife, Sally of Decatur; Rick Boland and wife, Elizabeth of Oreana, IL; Lori Kerns and husband, Darren of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Britney Kerns of Siloam Springs Arkansas; Emily and Max Boland of Oreana; sisters, Dorothy Everly of Eureka, IL; Louise Coventry of Peoria, IL; Mary Hastings and husband, Wayne of Decatur; Betty Hensley of Venice, Florida and Eva Reeise and husband, George of Dunlap, IL.
Preceding Helen in death are her parents, her husband, Carl; brother, Ralph Roderick of California; sisters, Virginia Van Rheeden of Mt. Zion; and Joyce Taylor of Decatur.

Bob Wilson Scott, Jr.

Bob “Wahoo” Wilson Scott, Jr., 69, of Decatur, died Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation 5-8 P.M. Thursday, November 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown.
Bob was born August 4, 1938, in San Juan, TX, the son of Robert Wilson Scott, Sr. and Romana (Sosa) Scott. He married Marjorie Underwood August 23, 1957, in Decatur. She preceded him in death September 30, 2004. Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator with Local 965 - Operating Engineers Union, for various Decatur/Central Illinois general contractors. He was a Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, and St. Louis Cardinals fan, and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his mother, Romana Scott, of Decatur; daughters, Penny E. (Tripp) Jess of Arthur, IL; Dianna L. (Brian) Beckham of Decatur; Maria A. (Bob) Mallernee of Decatur; Melinda M. (Dennis) Boylson of Fairfield, OH; son, Robert W. Scott (Mili) of Decatur; brothers, George W. Scott of Chicago; Rudy (Dee) Scott of Bradenton, FL; Edward (Kathy) Scott of Decatur; Gilbert (Pam) Scott of Norman, OK; 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Scott, Sr. wife, Marjorie, and brother, Joseph A. Scott.
Bob held great pride in his family, friends, sports and work with emphasis in regards to his family. His light and warm hearted nature drew people closer to him. His life and sacrifice will always be held dear in the hearts of the lives he touched and will greatly be missed by all who knew him.

Sharon Alice Sebok, 66, of Decatur, IL, died at 12:03 P.M. on Monday (October 22, 2007) in London, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday (November 1, 2007) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Thursday ( November 1, 2007) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL.
Memorials may be made to: South Shores Christian Church.
Sharon was born on July 2, 1941 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Lyman Wisher and Margaret (Bennett) Wisher.
She married Joseph James Sebok, Jr. on April 26, 1964, in Decatur, IL.
Sharon was a member of the South Shores Christian Church. She worked for South Shores Elementary School for twenty five years .
Surviving are her husband of Decatur, IL; Son: Joel Sebok and wife Jessica of Huntersville, N.C.; Daughter: Kara Elders and husband Andrew of Elgin, IL; Three Grandchildren: Josie Sebok, Ava Elders, and Ellie Elders. Brothers: Ron Wisher and wife Earline of Decatur, IL and Brian Wisher and wife Jeri of Washington, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Leroy Sheets

Leroy Sheets, husband, dad, grandpa and friend, age 75, of Oakley, IL, died 8:15 P.M., Wednesday, December 26, 2007, in his home with family and friends at his side.
Memorial Visitation will be 5 to 8 P.M., Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Brintlinger & Earl Cerro Gordo Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL. Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117 Building Fund.
Leroy was born March 5, 1932, in Oakley, IL, the son of Nellie Sheets. He married Roberta Benjamin on February 12, 1955, in Oakley, IL.
Leroy was raised by George and Annie Sheets. He was a member of Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117, Laborers Local #159, and was a Korean War Veteran. Leroy was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved the river and the timber. He said he was never closer to God than when he was there.
He never met a stranger. He was a good neighbor who was always willing to lend a hand. His door was always open for a cup of coffee or friendly advice. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Roberta of Oakley, IL; children Terri Kearney and husband Jeff of Assumption, IL, Tamara Kemp of Oakley, IL, Cody Sheets and wife Laurie of Oakley, IL; grandchildren Wren and Matt Bradley, Cody Wade Sheets and special friend Kim, Brooke and Chad LaVarier, Chase Kemp, Katlyn Kearney, Kandice Kearney; great grandchildren Lennon LaVarier, Lillian Bradley, Lynna Kearney; brother Tom Sheets of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Annie Sheets, mother Nellie, brother Harold, and sister Darlene.
The family would like to give special thanks to his friends Bob, Tim and his 42 buddies.

Pat was born on February 15, 1925 in Sullivan, IL., the daughter of Dale L. and Nellie Brown Holsapple. She married John H. Shewmaker on November 30, 1947. He preceded her in death, Dec. 7, 1977.
She retired from Caterpillar and was a member of the Eastern Star (Vivian Chapter), Macon, IL.
Pat is survived by her two sons: Michael Shewmaker and wife Rhonda and granddaughter Kristen of Daytona Beach, FL. and John Shewmaker of Makanda, IL.; Brother: Guy Holsapple and wife Louise of Macon, IL.; Three half brothers: Lee Holsapple and wife Mary Ann of Macon, IL., Bob Holsapple and wife Barbara of Cantril, Iowa, and Ivan Holsapple and wife Connie of Green Acres, FL.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-mother- Mary E. Holsapple, husband, brother- Arthur Holsapple and half brother Duane Holsapple.

Zita (Penny) P. Shinneman, 95, of Chesterfield, MO. died November 21, 2007, at St. Johns Mercy Hospital, in Creve Coeur, MO. She was the wife of late H. Kenneth Shinneman, dear mother of James O. (Dorothy) Sampson, Jr. and Mary Lou (James) Knoll, Richard (Nancy) Shinneman, grandmother of James (Kathy) Thomas Sampson, Joseph, Michael, Robert (Carol), Daniel (Linda) Knoll. Several Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Cerro Gordo, IL. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mary Olive Simpson, “Mrs. C.”, age 79 passed away March 16, 2008 in Bountiful, Utah. Mary was born May 1, 1928 to James Wilbur and Gladys Whitehead Simpson in Decatur, IL. Mary is survived by her children Pam Tsaklos (T.J.) And Major William Thomas Cussins (fiance Dawn Wells) grand-daughters Mary Tess Tsakalos and Allison Calhoun, nephews Robert (Barbara) Richter, Bruce (Wanda) Richter, Bryan (Alicia) Richter, great nieces Amy, Erin and Tori. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, former husband James S. Cussins III, her siblings James (Bud), Mark, Gene, David, Kathryn, Francis and her cousin/sister of her heart Roberta Jean Whitehead Richter.
Mary’s life is characterized by her devotion to others. She taught English at Eisenhower High School for 25 years and loved her students. Mom was most proud of Bill’s service to his country. She loved Illinois and Decatur. Utah was never truly “home”, but she loved being close to Mary Tess and attending her activities. She especially loved her dog Morty and her cat S.J. Mary will be missed by many.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the staff of Hearts of Hospice of Ogden, Utah for their love, kindness and compassion in the many months of care and friendship for Mary. Mary felt at home in Legacy House of Bountiful. She loved the residents and staff and they loved her.
Our Decatur girl returns home to stay - please join Mary’s family as we celebrate her life on Saturday March 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland, Decatur, IL.
In Lieu of flowers, Mary requested that donations be made to your favorite charity.

Luther H. “Red” Smart, 78, of Decatur, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in St. Mary’s Hospital.
There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Mr. Smart was born February 25, 1930, in Decatur, the son of Joseph and Rachel (Randolph) Smart. He married Joyce L. Carnahan June 14, 1947, in Decatur. Mr. Smart worked all his life as a construction laborer for local #159, which he was a proud member. He retired in 1995. Mr. Smart enjoyed fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Decatur; son Gary Smart and wife Penny of Argenta; daughters Linda Smart and Brenda Smart, both of Decatur; grandchildren Lisa Canary of Decatur, Roxie Powell of Decatur, Kim Belcher and husband Jeff of Argenta, Casey Smart of Decatur, and Tyler Smart of Decatur, Kenneth Case and wife Tammy of Decatur; great grandchildren Travis and Tiffany Powell of Decatur, Aspen Belcher of Argenta, Brandon and Destany of Decatur, Keri and Kyle and Kelton of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Terry, and grandson Eric Wayne.
