Lilabelle Louise Traylor, 93, of Decatur, IL, died 4:20 A.M., Monday, May 19, 2008, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Graveside services and burial will be 4:00 P.M. in Bushnell cemetery, Bushnell, IL. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church Cocoa (Coke) and Lilabelle Traylor Scholarship Fund.
Lilabelle was born on January 25, 1915 in McDonough County to William Ross and Mary Gladys (Mamie) Huffman Beaird. She graduated from Bardolph High School in 1932 where she participated in plays and was cheerleader for the basketball team during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 1938 where she became a member of Pi Beta Pi, an honorary society for Business Ed. majors, and was also a member of Kappa Delta Pi.
While going to Western she taught in rural schools in McDonough County. After receiving her B.Ed. she taught Business Ed. At Ben Funk High School near Bloomington. It was here that she met Cocoa Traylor. They married
on May 25, 1940. During World War II she followed her husband in the Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. She taught Business Ed at Latham High School from 1946 until it closed. She taught at Warrensburg-Latham’s Sunnyside School from 1951 to 1959, and moved with it to Warrensburg-Latham Elementary School and was there from 1959 to 1974. She and her husband retired in 1974 and spent 22 winters in Bradenton, FL. There she was an Elkette for 15 years and an Associate member of AAUW. While in Decatur she was a member of AAUW, Beta Sigma-Delta Kappa Gamma, Lady Elks, Club Continental, South Side Country Club, NEA, IEA, DARTA, Ruth Circle, Lydia, Dorcas Disciples, and Kiwaniannes. She was a member of the Merry Maidens Club, a group of high school chums who have met yearly for over 70 years.
Lilabelle was President of Macon County Teacher’s Association whom she represented at the NEA conventions in New York City in 1965 and in Miami Beach in 1966. She also served as an IEA delegate.
She and her husband’s travels included all 50 states (Hawaii many times), all provinces of Canada, a cruise to Caracas, Venezuela, and several European countries.
Lilabelle has a been a member of the Central Christian Church since 1957 and was recently elected there as a Deacon Emerita.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Jean Beaird of Mattoon, Mary Miller of Macomb, and Georgine Traylor Baker of El Paso and nieces and nephews Carol Idleman of Mattoon, Michael Beaird of Chesterfield, MO, Gloria Clark of Bushnell, Barbara Hinytzke of Detroit, MI, Bonnie McGinley of Highland, Joe Baker of Metamora, and Becky Hakes of El Paso. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, a sister-in-law, one niece and one nephew.

James Marvin (Jim) Trolia, 78, of Decatur, IL passed away at 10:00 am on Thrusday, Feburary 7, 2008.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am. Monday, February 11, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Visitation will be 2-5 pm, Sunday, February 10, with a prayer service at 1:45 pm, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur Humane Society.
Jim was born August 6, 1929 in Decatur and lived there all his life. He attended St. Patrick's School from kindergarten thru eighth grade and St. Teresa High School after that, graduating in the class of 1947. He also attended Millikin University for a time. He was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean conflict from 1951 - 1953.
Jim married
Lena (Lee) Zandonai on July 23, 1955 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. They celebrated 52 years of marriage together. They had two children, Thomas Michael and Tina Marie. Jim was employed at MII, Inc. in Lincoln, IL for twenty five years.
He is survived by wife, Lee, daughter Tina Voelker (Dave), two grandsons, Nick and Sam, and two granddogs.
Those preceding him in death were his parents, Vic and Nora Trolia, one brother Thomas Norton and son, Tom Trolia.
Jim will be remembered as a soft-spoken gentleman and will be sadly missed by his beloved family and many friends.

George R. Turner, 94, died at 6:13 P.M. on Saturday (05-24-2008) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

George was born on June 28, 1913 in Decatur, IL., the son of George E. Turner and Alta (Winegarner) Turner. He married
Faye Meador in July 31, 1933. He married
Janet I. Owens on August 19, 1962 in Villa Grove, IL. Both of his wives preceded him in death.
He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Past Master of the Summit Lodge #431 A.F. & A.M., Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 13th Eastern District, Ansar Shrine, and the Springfield Consistory. George worked at Mueller Co. for thirty six years as a shipping clerk retiring in 1976.
He is survived by 7 nieces and 8 nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, four brothers, four sisters, several nieces and nephews, and one special nephew Bill Grandon.

Jack R. Veech 79 of Decatur, IL passed away Saturday November 3, 2007 at 7:59 a.m. at his residence.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday November 7, 2007 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Decatur, IL with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday November 6, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery Decatur, IL with military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard

Jack was born December 8, 1927 in Decatur, IL the son of Gaines R. and Flossie (Likins) Veech. He married
Barbara Collins January 17, 1970 in Decatur and she passed away March 18, 1997.
Jack was a third generation farmer operating one of Macon County’s oldest farms for more than sixty years. He was known to drive the family grain trucks before he could see over the steering wheel at the age of seven. Jack farmed in partnership with Tom Corman of Mt. Zion in recent years. Aside from farming, Jack’s second love was flying, having attained his pilot’s license as a young man. He was known for aerial acrobatics, although sometimes they did not go as well as planned. Jack was always on the run and enjoyed being out, doing things. Jack loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and Branson. He was well known far and wide for his boisterous sense of humor and picking on his “sweet sister”.
Jack is survived by his companion, Jan Dobson, of Cerro Gordo; son Bill (wife, Sandy) Veech, of Oreana, three daughters, Sheree Shafer, of Decatur; Candy Winholtz, of Argenta; Janice (husband, Paul) McCormick, of Edina, MN; three stepchildren, Marsha Porter, of Cerro Gordo; Patrick Wallace of Decatur; Peggy Wallace, of Decatur; one sister Eileen Cook, of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, Eric (wife, Krista) Veech, of Decatur; Phillip Cook, of Champaign; Andrew Cook, of Chicago; Jenna Winholtz, of Bloomington; Brett Winholtz, of Argenta; Jake, Max, and Lucas McCormick, of Edina, MN; four step grandchildren, Derek and Lacey Wallace, of Decatur; Tim Hill, of Decatur; Sophia Crawford, of Cerro Gordo; two step great grandchildren, Daisy and Lily Crawford and one great grandchild on the way.
Jack was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Barbara; sister, Rebecca Jane Hutson; two grandchildren Beth Winholtz and Jack William Veech, Jr.
Jack loved Sunday mornings at the donut shop. He will be missed by everyone.

Mary K. Walker, 87, of Decatur, died Sunday, February 24, 2008, in Imboden Creek.

Mrs. Walker was born April 20, 1920, in St. Elmo, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Marie (Finch) Leach. She married
Earl M. Walker November 8, 1941, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Decatur. He preceded her in death May 10, 1994. Mrs. Walker was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Decatur. She worked at Houdaille-Hershey, and was given an award for working on the Manhattan Project. She was a retiree from GMAC, where she served as account representative for 27 years.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughter Gail Nicholson and husband Brian of Decatur; son Anthony “Tony” Walker and wife Leanna of Belleville, IL; four grandsons: Ashton Brinkoetter and wife Amber, Colin Brinkoetter and wife Meleah, Justin Brinkoetter, all of Decatur, and Jason Cole and wife Debra of Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV, currently serving active duty in Iraq; two granddaughters: Ryan Greenwell and husband Paco of De Pere, WI, and Lisa Cole of Sullivan, IL; two great grandchildren: Jaycee Brinkoetter and Autumn Brinkoetter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, brother J.M. Leach, and two grandchildren, Tony and Angela Walker.

J. Russell Walter, 97, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 at McKinley Court.
Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 P.M., Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Harristown cemetery, Harristown, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Transportation Club of Decatur Scholarship Fund.
Russ was born on May 9, 1910 in Decatur, the son of Raymond and Cora Ethel (Woodrum) Walter. He met Mary Ellen “Sue” Watkins while working as a truck driver for Hayes Freight Lines. They were married
on October 4, 1941.
Russ was a 1933 graduate of Decatur High School. He attended class reunions until there was no one left to meet. Russ volunteered for the military in 1941, but was turned down due to a back ailment, which never bothered him. Russ retired from Transcon Truck Lines as Terminal Manager in 1975 but continued to work in transportation sales for the next ten years, for companies, such as, McBride Freight, Service Transportation, and Rudolf Freight Lines. He would have continued working but had to quit to care for Mary Ellen “Sue”, who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Surviving are his two sons, John R. Walter and wife Jackie of Las Vegas, NV; Martin Allen Walter and wife Jodie of Mission Viejo, CA, three granddaughters, Heather Lynn Walter of Las Vegas, NV; Meaghen Kimberly Walter and Kaitlin Debra Walter both of Mission Viejo, CA.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ellen “Sue”; one sister Hazel Flynn and one brother, Leo F. Walter.
Russ will be remembered for his generosity and giving nature to friends and community.

Ruth was born November 21, 1913, in the Lisbon, North Dakota, the daughter of Horace N. and Elsie A. (Enloe) Ford. She came to Illinois in 1930. Ruth retired from Mueller Company in 1978 after 36 years of service. Ruth was a member of Mound Chapel Church of God. She married
Charles N. Brownlow (deceased) in 1936 and later married
Leonard Carl Wampler (deceased) in 1962.
She is survived by her daughter Rita J. Sarver of San Diego, CA; son Lloyd Brownlow and wife Karla of Decatur, IL; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; 2 sister-in-laws; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, one son-in-law Gene Sarver, one grandson, two nieces, two great nieces, and one great nephew.
Ruth was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
