DECEMBER 3, 2008

Glen Lowe, 74, of Bridgeport, IL passed away Tuesday December 3, 2008 at Lawrence Community Healthcare in Bridgeport, IL. Born November 21, 1934 in Mt. Carmel, IL he was the son of James and Rella (Creek) Lowe. He married Ida Wimberly June 11, 1952.

Glen delivered the Evansville Courier and Press Newspaper for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife Ida; three sons James Lowe of Hartwell, GA, Gary Lowe of Elk City, Oklahoma and Paul Lowe of Robinson, IL; one daughter Beverly Love of Bridgeport, IL; one sister Thelma Schofield of Jacksonville, FL; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, one son William Lowe, one daughter Sheila Harvey; one brother and one sister.

The body is being cremated. No services are scheduled.

DONALD R. KENEIPP
DECEMBER 1, 2008

Donald R. Keneipp, 68, of Sumner, IL passed away Monday December 1, 2008 at Lawrence Community Healthcare in Bridgeport.

Born January 30, 1940 in Lawrence County, IL he was the son of Cecil Keneipp and Emma (Hair) Rutherford. ON August 29, 1959 he married Sarah Gross. She survives.

Don was a lifelong farmer, and was co-owner of D & S Produce in Sumner. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. He was a member of the Bridgeport Free Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a son: Dennis and wife Sandy Keneipp of Alexander City, AL, a daughter: Tammy and husband jay Loftin of Sumner, IL, a brother: Herschel and wife Harlene Keneipp of Schenoa, IL, 3 sisters: Mildred and Karl Bowman of Pickerington, OH, Mary Keneippp of Lancaster, OH, Martha Keneipp of Lancaster, OH, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

The funeral will be Friday December 5, 2008 at the Bridgeport Free Methodist Church at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at the Moffitt cemetery. Visitation is also Friday from 12:00noon until the service hour of 2:00pm.

Memorial donation may be given to the Hope Lodge at 2806 Redding Road Cincinnati, OH 45206.

VIRGINIA L. BILLINGSLEY
NOVEMBER 26, 2008

On November 26, 2008, Virginia Leigh Billingsley went to be with her Savior. Virginia was born on July 4, 1924 to Idelene and Charles Francis Pierce in Hamilton County (Enfield) , Illinois. On November 14, 1942, she married C.E. 'Eldon' Billingsley who preceded her in death on July 4, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings. She is survived by two sons: Larry and his wife, Gayle, and Charles Eldon 'Chuck' Billingsley. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Jason and his wife, Dala, of Marshall, Illinois; Peyton and his wife, Shelly, of Godfrey, Illinois; and C. E. 'Eli' Billingsley of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and three great-grandchildren: Emily, Jaedyn, and Garrett Billingsley. Virginia was also a member of Central Christian Church where she was baptized into the Lord in 2005.
Virginia and her husband owned and operated a successful oil business for many years. They spent a lot of time together and enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and spending time with their many friends, family, and beloved pets. Of all of her hobbies and interests, Virginia spent many hours working in her flower beds and took pride in the fact that people would stop to look and comment on her colorful flowers and bushes. Virginia also played bridge weekly and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. Virginia was also a member of the Elks Lodge.
The Visitation will be from 5-7 PM at Emmons-Macey Funeral Home on Sunday, November 30, 2008. The funeral will be on Monday, December 1, 2008, at 10 AM and will be officiated by ministers Phil Yakey and Matt Willis.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be given to either Central Christian Church or the Humane Society.

MAE E. FISHER
NOVEMBER 26, 2008

Mae E. Fisher, 92, of Petrolia, IL passed away Wednesday November 26, 2008 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 25, 1916 in Blackford County, IL the daughter of Archie and Beulah Mae (Smith) Fisher. She was married to Lewis Edward Fisher who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and did some contract cleaning for the Government. She was a longtime member of the Union Chapel Church. She was a member of the Ladies Home Extension and active in 4H.

She is survived by 2 sons: Larry and wife Kay Fisher of Terre Haute, IN, Jimmie G. and wife Phyllis Fisher of Smithsburg, MD, a daughter: Barbara Fyffe of Sumner, IL, 2 sisters: Wilma Brown of Lawrenceville, IL, Marjorie Kilpatrick of Celina, TX, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00am at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation is also Saturday from 9:00am until the service hour of 11:00am. Burial will be at the Bridgeport City cemetery.

Clara Ellen Gerhart
November 22, 2008

Clara Ellen Gerhart went to be with her Savior November 22, at 1:14 a.m. Clara was born February 12, 1906 just north of Lawrenceville to Charles T. and Gertrude Glosser Fritchie. She was the oldest of five siblings. She attended Blackburn and Sand Ridge elementary schools and was a member of Lawrenceville High School Class of 1925. She worked at the Indian Refinery (Texaco) before marrying Charles J. Gerhart on September 8, 1928.

Clara has lived all her married life on the Allison Prairie farm where all four of her daughters were born and raised: Ellen Simpson Pardieck, Columbus, IN, SueGerhart and Rose Robeson, Lawrenceville, IL and Martha Wallace, Princeton, IN. She has six grandchildren: Mary Ellen Newlin, Nineveh, IN, David Simpson, Rushville, IL Roberta Rink, Plainville, IN, Jennifer Wallace, Memphis, TN Mike Wallace, Seneca, SC and Diana Akles, Nineveh, IN. She has 10 great grandchildren. All survive.

Clara provided a loving and fun home for her family. She served many meals for friends and family as they came to the country farm to share in the bounty of their garden, feedlot, hunting, fishing, and mushrooming. She especially enjoyed crocheting and giving away her handiwork.

Clara was a devoted and caring mother and grandmother, an exemplary neighbor, a faithful member of Rising Sun Christian Church and served on Lawrence County's Senior Citizen Board.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Lyman Fritchie, Coen Fritchie, Jean Bline and Nolan Fritchie and her husband Charles J. Gerhart (1988) .

Services are at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 24 at Emmons-Macey & Steffey funeral home with Garth Whewell officiating. Intermittent will be in the Centerville cemetery on Allison Prairie. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, November 23 at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rising Sun Christian Church or the Centerville cemetery Fund.

Dallas E. Minniear

Dallas E. Minniear, 76, of Jacksonville, IL and formerly of Lawrence, IL died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 18, 1935 in Knox County, IN; the son of Alfred and Opal Sanneman Minniear. He married Nina L. Main on June 8, 1958 in Lawrenceville and she survives.

He is also survived by three brothers, Jim Minniear of Lawrenceville, Harry Minniear (wife, Barbara) of West Salem, and Lynden Minniear (wife, Nancy) of Jupiter, FL and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Douglas Minniear in infancy.

Dallas was a 1953 graduate of Lawrenceville High School and served with the US Navy from 1953-1957. He attended Eastern Illinois University from 1959-1962 where he was awarded a degree in Business Education and named to Pi Omega Pi, the national business honor society. He was selected to participate in a nationwide rating of colleges and accounting students. He has served as a certified public accountant since 1964. Dallas was a partner in the McGladrey-Pullen Accounting firm in Springfield. In May of 1976, Dallas and Frank Hynes purchased the firm’s Jacksonville office, establishing their own accounting firm, Hynes & Minniear. Their firm eventually merged with the Zumbahlen, Eyth & Surratt accounting firm in 1991 and Dallas continued to work until his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants and was a former member of the JACOA board of directors and the Jacksonville AMBUCS Club. He also formerly served as treasurer for the Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce.

At his request, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville where the family will meet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday. Graveside committal services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday at Centerville cemetery in rural Lawrenceville with Rev. Ron Crawford and Bill Legg officiating. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial gifts are suggested to the American Lung Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Deloe Rigg
March 2, 1934 - February 24, 2011

Glenn Deloe Rigg, age 76, of Shreveport, LA (formerly of Lawrence County) passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Duke North Hospital, Durham, NC. He was born March 2, 1934 in Birds, IL the son of Herman Harrison and Leona (Stevenson) Rigg. He married Kay Coonce February 26, 1954 and she survives.

Deloe was an Army veteran and a 32nd degree Mason. Deloe worked at Texaco Refinery as a boilerhouse operator and supervisor until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Herbert H. Rigg.

Survivors include his wife Kay of Shreveport, LA; one son Mike Rigg and wife Dorothy of Crane, TX; one daughter Kathy Rigg and husband Brad Cook of Oxford, N.C.; two brothers Frederick M. Rigg and wife Anna of Channahon, IL and Laurie Jerry Rigg and wife Joyce of Springs, FL; two sisters Helen Crouch and Thelma June Cummins both of Lawrenceville, IL and two grandsons Michael Brandon Rigg and Avery Deloe Rigg.

A Masonic service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, 1303-12th Street, Lawrenceville, IL.

Following the Masonic service, visitation will be from 5:15 to 7:30 p.m

A celebration of life service will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.

Dorothy Rowena Courtney
February 25, 1930 - February 27, 2011

Dorothy Rowena Courtney age 81 of Lawrenceville passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011
at her home. She was born February 25, 1930 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of Norwood Stanhope and Cleo (Martin) Stanhope. She was married to James J. Courtney and he survives.

Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lawrenceville United Methodist Church. She was a leader for Camp Fire Girls and sorority member of the Delta Theta Tau. Dorothy was a devoted loving mother to her three children and supportive and devoted wife to her husband of 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors included her husband, James, one daughter Liz Bootman and husband Charles, two sons, David Courtney and wife Joni, and Jeff and his wife Kathy. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shana, Brian, Nick, Jesse and Katie Jo. She is also survived by two brothers Richard Stanhope and wife Karen from Sun City Center, Florida, Norwood Stanhope Jr and wife Mary Jo of Sebastian, Florida and a sister JoAnne Litherland from Salisbury, Maryland.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning 10:00 a.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Il. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or Lawrence County Memorial Hospital E and D Foundation.

Florence I. Foster
December 5, 1913 - February 14, 2011

Florence Foster, age 97, of Bridgeport (formerly of Sumner) passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at Lawrence Community Health Care Center in Bridgeport. Born, December 5, 1913 in Lawrence County, IL she was the daughter of Jesse Ellison and Della (Inyart) Mattoon. She married Leroy Foster, who passed away in 1975. Florence was a homemaker and a member of the Sumner Congregational Church. Survivors include one son Jon Foster of rural Sumner; one daughter Susan Foster of Sumner; two grandchildren Brett (Krista) Foster of Delaware, OH and Shawn Foster of Westerville, OH. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, and five sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memorial Park cemetery.
