Shirley (Strange) Cannon, age 79, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away August 7, 2007 at her daughter's residence in Kingsland, GA.
Born July 26, 1928, in Lawrenceville, she was the daughter of Samuel R. and Martha (Taylor) Strange. She married
James A. Cannon on February 15, 1977 and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2002.
She is survived by one son Mark Tiek of Matthews, IN; one daughter Stephanie Mischler of Kingsland, GA; two brothers Phillip Strange and Robert Strange both of Lawrenceville, IL; two sisters Garnet Reynolds of Mt. Carmel, IL and Cleo Tevebaugh of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren Amy Mischler and Nicole Mischler Burwell; three great-grandchildren Caitlin O'Leary, Riley Mischler, and Zachary Burwell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.
Shirley was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, IL. She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be on Saturday, August 11th at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the hour of the service at 11:00 AM at the church.
Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.
Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Virgil B. Fry

Virgil B. Fry, age 85, of Lawrenceville, passed away July 29, 2007 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville.
Born November 16, 1921, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ernest L. and Viola Mae (Davis) Fry. He married
Marjorie Wagner on November 25, 1945 and she survives.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, two sons, Robert L. and Bobbi Fry of Lawrenceville and Jeffrey and Amy Fry of Middleburg, FL; one daughter Bonnie Johnston of Lawrenceville; one brother Hanford Fry of Lawrenceville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Virgil was retired after working for Ambraw Block Company for 38 years. He was a member of the Highway Church of God, Lawrenceville. He was also a member of the Eagles.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Highway Church of God, Lawrenceville with burial in the Centerville cemetery.
The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 pm at the church.
Martha Alice Pinkstaff

Martha Alice (Boyd) Pinkstaff, age 90, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away July 28, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was born March 12, 1917 in Odon, IN, the daughter of Ronald S. and Pearl (Henson) Boyd. She married
Norman "Pink" Pinkstaff on August 15, 1936, and he passed away on November 2, 1982.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by several cousins.
Martha was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and was a Past 23 District President and Director. Other memberships included the Eagles Auxilliary (Golden Eagle and Patron) ; Ladies of the Moose, VFX Auxilliary and she was a Past President of the BPW.
Martha worked for the State of Illinois in the Dept. of Veteran Affairs as an administrative assistant for 25 years.
A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Derr cemetery.
Bill J. Rich

Bill J. Rich, age 74, of Flat Rock, IL, passed away July 25, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.
Born September 5, 1932 in Lawrenceville, he was the son of Riley and Clara (Rush) Rich. He was was married
to Dixie (Browning) Rich who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.
He is survived by two sons, Mike Rich and Kip Rich both of Flat Rock, IL; one daughter, Jackie Rich of Lawrenceville; one sister Betty Stoll of Decatur, Michigan; and six grandchildren.
Bill was retired from Briggs Pottery where he was a caster for 40+ years. He was a Navy veteran and served in the Korean war. He was a member of the American Legion in Flat Rock, IL.
Private services will be conducted. There will be no visitation.
Karen Kay Tolliver

Karen Kay Tolliver, age 66, of Lawrenceville passed away July 21, 2007 at the United Methodist Village North Campus.
She was born January 28, 1941 in Lawrenceville, IL, the daughter of Willard O. and Golda Mae (Stevens) Vinsel. On June 24, 1961, she married
Terrell "Terry" Tolliver and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by two sons Timothy S. Tolliver of Lawrenceville, Tyler and Elaina Tolliver of Lawrenceville;three daughters Teresa and Tom Spencer of Lawrenceville, Tambra Risley of Lawrenceville, and Tonia Tolliver of Grayville, IL; two brothers Donald Edward Vinsel of Lawrenceville, IL; seven grandchildren Whitney Spencer, Taylor Spencer Dalton Shultz, Rachael Risley, Isaac Tolliver, Evan Tolliver, Trevor Tewell.
Karen was a homemaker and worked for Unit #20 school system as a cook. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, IL.
The funeral will be Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.
The visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
William "Billy" Simmons, Jr.

William "Billy" Simmons, Jr. age 49 of Olney (formerly of Lawrence County) , passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 in Richland County.
Born September 4, 1958 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of William E. and Lavinia Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his father William E. Simmons and one brother.
Billy is survived by his mother, Lavinia Simmons Hundley of Olney; step-father Henry Hundley of Olney; one son Andrew Simmons of Bridgeport; three daughters Annie Hundley of Francisco, IN, Sarah Stevenson of Olney, IL, and Christy Simmons of Bridgeport, IL; three brothers Tim Simmons of Olney, IL, Charles Simmons of Indiana, and Nathan Simmons of St. Louis, MO; three sisters Joanne Smith of Sumner, IL, Rhonda Templeton of St. Louis, MO, and Amy Simmons of St. Louis, as well as eight grandchildren.
Billy worked as a masonary out of Local 8 in Illinois. He was also a mechanic, artist and a musician. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Sumner, IL.
The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, IL. Burial will be in the Sumner City cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM until the service hour of 11:00 AM.
Betty Jean Walls

Betty Jean Walls, age 73, of Aurora, CO (formerly of Olney, IL) passed away July 9, 2007 at her residence. Born December 26, 1933 in Monroe, TN, she was the daughter of Charles and Cordia (Reagan) Bilbrey.
She is survived by three sons David and wife Geneva Goodwin of Aurora, CO, Carl and wife Bessie Goodwin of Olney, Steve and wife Theresa Walls of Lawrenceville; four daughters Rebecca and husband Keith Little of Olney, Glenna and husband David Heath of Sumner, and Patty King of Olney; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Cordia Bilbrey, two brothers and one grandson.
Betty was a cook at the Rooster in Olney. She was also a nurses aide at Burgin Manor in Olney. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olney and a member of the Eagles in Olney.
The funeral will be on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, IL with burial in the Cresthaven Memorial Park cemetery in Claremont, IL.
The visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Bobby Dale Lawrence

Bobby Dale Lawrence, 72, of rural Lawrenceville, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
Born October 11, 1934 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Gerrell and Pearl (Edgin) Lawrence.
He was retired as a boilermaker from Local 374. Bobby also enjoyed flying his own plane. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 32nd Degree Mason and he was a Shriner. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He is survived by one son, Steve Lawrence and his wife Christine of Seymour, IN; daughter Nicole Beth Dorney and her husband Eric of Lawrenceville; grandchildren Ashley Lawrence, Charlie Marie Lawrence, Beau Lawrence, Austin Lawrence, Samantha Lawrence, Blake McCullough, and Jada McCullough; sisters, Alice Pifer of Vincennes, IN, Maxine Galle of Michigan, Norma Ann Rodiguez of North Carolina, and Karen Davis of Florida; brothers, Albert Lawrence of St. Francisville, Ronnie Lawrence of St. Francisville, Jerry Lawrence of Washington, IN and Billy Lawrence of Vincennes, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrell and Pearl (Edgin) Lawrence;a son Daniel Lawrence, and a brother, Donald Lawrence.
The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. There will be a private burial.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Veteran's Association.
