Eutana L. Meek
July 1, 2007
Eutana L. Meek, age 86, of Chauncey, IL passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Lawrence Community Health Care Center in Bridgeport. Born January 13, 1921, she was the daughter of Edward and Jessie (Hart) Paddick. She married Charles Meek on December 13, 1941 and he passed away on January 3, 2007.

She is survived by one daughter Rita Stagg and her husband Chuck of Henderson, KY; one sister Geneva Parrott of Chauncey; a sister-in-law Dortha Waggoner of Salem, IL, two grandchildren Leslie Coomes and Michael Stagg both of Henderson, KY and two great grandchildren Gabriell Coomes and Camden Coomes of Henderson, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Eutana was a homemaker and a farm wife. She attended Eastern Illinois University. She was active in the Chauncey Ruritan.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 12:00 Noon at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, IL.

The visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in the Chauncey cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Chauncey Community Club.

Linda J. Patten
June 30, 2007
Linda J. Patten, age 57, of Lawrenceville passed away at her residence on June 30, 2007. Born April 22, 1950 in Lawrenceville, she was the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Allen) Wimberly of Lawrenceville. She married Jack Patten on June 19, 1970 and he survives.

Besides her husband, she is also survived by her mother of Lawrenceville, four sons Pat Patten, Jackie Patten, Jerry Patten, and Terry Patten all of Lawrenceville; one daughter Billie Stovall of Lawrenceville; three brothers Wayne Crouch of Princeton, IN, Buck Wimberly and Roger Wimberly both of Lawrenceville, IL; three sisters Mick Brewer and Pam Brewer of Lawrenceville and Rhonda Smith of Mt. Carmel, IL, as well as eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Linda was a CNA and a member of the VFW Auxilliary.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. The visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Margurete Ballard Lynch
June 28, 2007
Margurete Ballard Lynch, age 87, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away at 3:22 PM, June 28, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

Born August 28, 1919, she was the daughter of Charles and Oma (Winkler) Ballard. She married Ira Philo Lynch in 1942 and he passed away January 10, 1974.

She is survived by two sons John and Susan Lynch of Lawrenceville and Jerry and Janie Lynch of Corpus Christi, TX, two grandchildren Jessica Lynch of Texas and Chandler Lynch of Lawrenceville, IL and three nieces Beverly Barcroft, Mary Faye Wyatt, and Cindy Weber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and one sister.

Margurete worked as a deputy in the County Clerk's office filling in after the death of Bill Hensley who was the County Clerk at that time. She worked in the County Clerk's office for approximately 19 years. She also worked in the Veteran's Office.

She was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Auxilliary.

The funeral will be on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.

Helen M. Hanes
June 27, 2007
Helen M. Hanes, age 95, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away at her residence at 6:51 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Born July 19, 1911 in Lawrenceville, IL, she was the daughter of Charles Hiram and Mary Eunice (Barcroft) Scranton. She married John Walter Hanes in 1928 and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons Jack Hanes of Bridgeport and Jerry Hanes of Lawrenceville; two daughters Doris Hanes of Lawrenceville, IL and Kay Hanes of Pensacola, FL; one brother C. Phillip Scranton of Hemet, CA; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Helen was a seamstress and was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Lawrenceville.

The body was cremated. There will be no service.

Nancy Ann (Cook) Grieve
June 21, 2007
Nancy Ann (Cook) Grieve, 80, of Hot Springs, AR (formerly of Lawrenceville) died Thursday, June 21, 2007 in Hot Springs.

Nancy was born April 1, 1927 in Vincennes, IN. She was a University of Illinois graduate and a National Republican Committee member. She was predeceased by one sister, Sarah Claire Cook; her father, Howard Hayden Cook, and her mother, Dorothy Anne (French) Cook.

Survivors include one brother, Jack Cook of Hot Springs; one niece, Sally Anne Cook of Peoria, AZ; and her friend and caregiver Diane Walters of Hot Springs.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 18th at 10:00 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas through the funeral home.

Alisha Kay Pinkstaff
June 19, 2007
Alisha Kay Pinkstaff, age 19, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. Born October 11, 1987, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Brian Pinkstaff of Vincennes, IN and Becky (Larrison) Pinkstaff of rural Lawrenceville.

Alisha attended Vincennes University and worked part-time at McDonald's in Lawrenceville. She graduated from Red Hill High School in 2006 where she had been a cheerleader.

She was a member of the Island Free Methodist Church.

She enjoyed riding four-wheelers and hanging out with her friends and her sister.

She is survived by her mother Becky (Larrison) Pinkstaff of rural Lawrenceville, her father, Brian Pinkstaff of Vincennes, stepfather Rick Vanschoyck of rural Lawrenceville, three sisters Allison Vanschoyck of rural Lawrenceville, Kendall Pinkstaff and Marlee Pinkstaff of Fayetteville, NC, maternal grandmother Alice Plunkett of Yale, IL and step-grandmother Betty Larrison of Lawrenceville, paternal grandparents Bob and Janet Wininger of Vincennes, IN, Kenneth and Vickie Pinkstaff of rural Lawrenceville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Lowell Larrison, a maternal aunt, and a maternal uncle.

The visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. The funeral will be on Friday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery in Lawrenceville, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.

Nancy C. Spillman
September 6, 2007
Nancy C. Spillman, age 70, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away September 6, 2007 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 16, 1937, the daughter of Forrest J. and Mary Lorene (Benson) Main. She married Carrol L. "Jake" Spillman on August 4, 1956 and he survives.

She is also survived by three sons, Kirk and Cindy Spillman of rural Flat Rock, Brad Spillman of Lawrenceville, and Larry Spillman of Vincennes, IN; one daughter, Penni Honey of Phoenix, AZ; one brother Leo Main of Fairfield, IL; two sisters Linda Waggoner of Lawrenceville, and Nina L. Minniear of Jacksonville, IL; and two grandchildren Keisty and Jacob Spillman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

Nancy was a member of the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. She was also a homemaker and worked at the First Christian Church Daycare Center for approximately five years. She was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

There will be a private service with no visitation. Burial will be held in the Centerville cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association or to the American Heart Association.

Dwanna Jo Ann Kirkwood
September 6, 2007
Dwanna Jo Ann Kirkwood, 70, of Lawrenceville (fomerly of Denver, CO) passed away Thursday at her residence.
Born October 26, 1936 in Marshall County, KS to Arnold Frank and Deana Catherine (Nieman) Schneider. She was married to Edward L. Kirkwood. He died Feb. 7, 2002.
Surviving are 3 Step-sons: Scott Kirkwood of Parker, CO, Jeff Kirkwood of Winston-Salem, NC, Allan Kirkwood of Las Vegas, NV, a step-daughter: Ida Spencer of Englewood, CO, 9 cousins and many friends.
She had worked as a Legal Secretary for Bromley & Kingsley in Denver, CO. She then worked for Judges Robert Kingsley and Warren Martin as a Clerk.
She was a member of the PEO in Lawrenceville. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Marysville, KS. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville where she was very active. She traveled the world spending months overseas.
Funeral services will be conducted in Marysville, KS by the Kinsley Mortuary at a later date.
Memorial donations may be given to the Good Samaritan Hospice through the funeral home.
Local arrangements were handled by the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.

Willis E. Theriac
September 4, 2007
Willis E. Theriac, age 76, passed away September 4, 2007 at the Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. He was born April 17, 1931 in Vincennes, IN, the son of Edward W. and Gladys (Killion) Theriac. He was married to Dorothy (Davis) Theriac who passed away in 1997.

He is survived by a son, Harry Wagner of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter, May Malone, of Sumner, IL; five brothers Earl and Roy Theriac both of Decker, IN, Ira Theriac of Australia, Grant Theriac of Vincennes, IN, and Elmer Theriac of Missouri; two half-brothers, Bobby Deeley and Frank Deeley both of Vincennes, IN; three sisters Elizabeth Davis of Sumner, IL, Bonnie Phegley of Carlisle, IN and Flossie Moore of Indiana; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers.

Willis worked at Fox Furniture and Dowty Disposal, City of Sumner, Dumes in Vincennes, IN as a truck driver and he also worked for John Wolfe Farms in Sumner.

He was a Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at Cresthaven Memorial Park cemetery. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memorial Park cemetery.
