Ross M. Montgomery, 74, of Lawrenceville, passed away at his residence October 29, 2008 at 2:06 a.m. He was born October 3, 1934 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Charles and Daisy (Hightshoe) Montgomery.
Ross worked as an operating engineer for Local 841 out of Terre Haute, IN. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include three sons Mike Montgomery, Ross Montgomery, Jr., and Mark Montgomery all of Lawrenceville; one daughter Greta Jean Tracy of Flat Rock, IL; one brother Richard Montgomery of Robinson, IL; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with visiting hours from 12:00 (noon) until the hour of service on Saturday.
EARL LAVERN "CURLY" UMFLEET

Earl Lavern Umfleet, 78, of Sumner, IL passed away Monday October 27, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.
He was born July 8, 1930 in Claremont, IL the son of Vernice H. and Stella Mae (Thomas) Umfleet. On January 27, 1951 he married
Lois Marie Collins. She survives.
He is also survived by 5 daughters: Teresa Parker of Bloomington, IN, Jeri May of Dietrich, IL, Darla Nicewander of Sumner, IL, Annie Kiser of Sumner, IL, Susan Farris of Elkmont, AL, a sister: Janette Adkison of Indianapolis, IN, 17 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 19 great -grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren.
He was retired from the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam. He also was an electrician. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
The funeral will be Friday at 2:00pm at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sumner cemetery. Visitation is also Friday from 12:00pm until the service hour of 2:00pm.
CHARLES HAROLD MUSHRUSH

Charles Harold Mushrush, 90, passed away Sunday October 26, 2008 at United Methodist Village North Campus in Lawrenceville, IL.
Born February 3, 1918 in Lawrenceville, IL, he was the son of Bert and Ella (Kiplinger) Mushrush. On May 15, 1943 he married
Mary Ford. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2005.
He is survived by several nephews and a niece.
He was retired from Texaco Refinery.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00am at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Lawrenceville City cemetery. Visitation is also Thursday from 9:00 until the service hour of 11:00am.

Hugh L. Jones, 80, of Lawrenceville, Il passed away Sunday October 26, 2008 at the United Methodist Village North campus in Lawrenceville, IL.
He was born May 9, 1928 in Crawford Co., IL the son of Jess D. and Emma B. (Ferguson) Jones. On August 19, 1951 he married
Norma Lee Waggoner. She survives.
Hugh worked at Texaco Refinery as a Supervisor of Operations and retired after 32 years. He was owner/operator of Jones Modern Landscaping, which he started in 1969. He was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, and served in the United States Army during WWII. He graduated from Oblong High School.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Jan and husband Bill Welsh of Highland Heights, OH, 3 sisters: Bernice Sanders of Oblong, IL, Faye Weger of Terre Haute, IN, Lanora Satterfield of Lawrenceville, IL, grandchildren: Megan and Andrew Hugh Welsh, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 10:00am at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Lawrenceville City cemetery.

Martha Lee Cullom, 88, formerly of Auburn, IL died Saturday October 25, 2008 at Lewis memorial Christian Village, Springfield, IL.
Martha was born March 2, 1920 in Flat Rock, IL the daughter of Alah and Blanche Smith McCarty. She married
Charles W. Cullom in Hammond, IN in 1937. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Janet (Wheeler) Pastrovitch, grandson Charles M. Cullom Jr. and a great-granddaughter Katie Cullom.
She is survived by 6 children: Donna Little of Bull Head City, AZ, Patricia Streeter of Acworth, GA, George W. (Marcia) Cullom of Highland, IN, Claudette (Tom) Hiler of Springfield, IL, Mary Susan Barker, of ND, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday October 28, 2008 at 1:30pm at Lawrenceville City cemetery.

Virginia I. Cummins, 80, of Ft. Meyers, FL (fomerly of Lawrenceville) passed away Friday October 24, 2008 at Hope Hospice and Health Park in Ft. Meyers, Fl.
She was born July 10, 1928 in Crawford County, IL. She was the daughter of Franklin and Velma (Spade) Tredway. On September 16, 1943 she married
Paul Eugene Cummins. He passed away January 19, 1991.
She had worked at the Health Candy Company in Robinson and Lawrenceville Industries. She was an avid camper.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Diana and David Linton of Ft. Meyers, FL, Vaunie and Dean Hamilton of North Port, FL, 3 sisters: Doris Sanders of Lawrenceville, IL, Laura Bell of Flat Rock, IL, Betty Shelton of Flat Rock, IL, 4 grandchildren: Jeff and Loretta Smith, Michael and Amy Linton, Tiffany Moore, and Bryan and Rachel Hamilton, and 7 great-grandchildren. One great-grandson is deceased.
There will be a Graveside Service Saturday at 11:00am at the Derr cemetery. There is no visitation.

Judith A. Seward, 68, or rural Lawrenceville, passed away at her residence, October 24, 2008. She was born May 4, 1940 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the daughter of Bill and Vivian (Mannen) Miller. She married
Bill Seward June 15, 1958 and he survives.
Judy was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. She was also a member of the Country Club for 31 years, Women of the Moose, VFW Auxillary and she was an avid golfer.
Survivors include her husband (Bill) ; one son David (Jacki) Seward of rural Lawrenceville; two daughters Kathy (Jeff) Courtney and Beth LeBahn all of rural Lawrenceville; one sister Sharon Jones of Green Cove Springs, FL; and eight grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Billie Gardner.
The funeral will be Monday at 10:00 am at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the May Chapel cemetery.

Charles P. Huddleston, 82, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away October 23, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born July 29, 1926 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Aubrey E. and Martha Jane (Thompson) Huddleston. He married
Mildred Funke December 24, 1949 and she survives.
Charles was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a lifetime member of the Elks. Charles worked as a manager for Illinois Gas Company where he had worked for 46 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Survivors include his wife (Mildred) ; two daughters Kathleen (Jesse) Keyser of Edwardsville, IL and Susan (Matthew) Berg of La Grange, IL, as well as four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.
ROBERT J. WELLS

Robert J. Wells, 85, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away October 21, 2008 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, IL. He was born September 8, 1923 in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Otto and Nellie (Jones) Wells.
Robert served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as a truck driver for V.O. Parrott and was a life time member of the VFW.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a daughter Misty (Robert) Henson of Lawrenceville; one brother Merle (Betty) Wells of Lawrenceville; one sister Vera (Eugene) Cokley of St. Charles, MO; and two grandchildren.
The body is being cremated. No services are scheduled.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
