Richard F. Wagner
(May 25, 1921 - April 26, 2012)

Richard F. Wagner, 90, East Moline, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is from noon until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation.

Richard was born on May 25, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Martin and Frances (Chojnacki) Wagner. The family name was "Ojczenasz" prior to immigrating to the United States. He graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Iowa State University. During World War II, Richard served in the highly-decorated 23rd Photo Reconnaissance Squadron of the U.S. Army Air Corps. The work of the 23rd served all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and as General Hap Arnold boldly stated, "Photo Reconnaissance does not win battles, it wins wars." Master Sergeant Richard F. Wagner was honorably discharged on August 27, 1945, with the Bronze Star, European African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, 10 Battle Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Wagner retired as a supervisor engineer of the Engineering Plans and Services Division in the Facilities Engineering Office at the Rock Island Arsenal. Richard enjoyed photography, researching his family's genealogy and travel. He also found joy in gardening, reading and music.

Survivors include a sister, Lorraine Cronkleton; brother, Martin Wagner Jr.; and several nieces and nephews, including his niece, Regina "Reggie" Wagner, who will keep his memory alive through her many fond memories.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delores Bullock.

Alice VanBruwaene
(March 7, 1918 - April 29, 2012)

Alice M. VanBruwaene, 94, East Moline, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 11 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church, where she was a member, St. Ambrose University or to All Animal Aid, Moline.

Alice Windey was born March 7, 1918 in Minneota, MN, the daughter of Kamiel and Lena VandeVelde Windey. She had worked for the East Moline School District until 1990. She married Adolph VanBruwaene on February 14, 1942. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1983. She and her husband were co-owners of the Former Arena Gardens in East Moline. Alice had a great sense of humor, and always enjoyed being with people.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia, East Moline and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to losing her husband, she is preceded in death by sisters, Nellie Windey, Mary Windey, Clara Maertens, and Rose Mootz and brothers, Thomas, Carl, John, Art, Hank, Phillip and Alphonse.

Donald Cabor
(August 30, 1959 - April 28, 2012)

Donald D. Cabor, 52, of East Moline, IL, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at his home. Memorial services will be 10:30AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Don was born August 30, 1959 in Moline, IL, the son of John and Sharon Leathers Cabor. He worked in construction and as an electrostatic painter. He enjoyed working on cars, NASCAR, and was a Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include his father, John (Roberta) Cabor of Leesburg, FL; sister, Cathy (Pete) Mendoza of Coal Valley; brother, John (Michelle) Cabor, Milan, IL; grandmother, Cathleen Leathers of Moline; nieces, Brittany and Alexis Mendoza and Brooke and Riley Cabor. He is preceded in death by his mother and sister, Sandra “Cinder” Cabor.

Carlene Sullivan
(October 18, 1922 - April 29, 2012)

Carlene R. Sullivan, 89, East Moline, went to Heaven to join her husband, after a long battle with Alzheimer's on April 29, 2012. Funeral services are 11 AM Saturday at First Christian Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.

Carlene was born October 18, 1922 in Stillwell, IL, the daughter of Martin D. and Bernice F. (Tanner) Reed. She graduated from Bowen High School, Bowen, IL. She married James F. Sullivan at First Christian Church on April 7, 1946. Carlene had worked at John Deere during WWII but enjoyed being a homemaker after the birth of her four children. She was a member of the CWF at First Christian Church and a member of TOPS and KOPS. She truly enjoyed her family. She was a great cook, fantastic seamstress, and a wonderful Mother to her four children.

She is survived by her children, James M (Debbie) Sullivan, Davenport, Patricia J. (Gary) Gurnicz, Springfield, VA, Judith L. (Stephen) Petersen, Davenport and Penni (Dan) Allen, East Moline, sister Maxine (Gailen) Brown, Cherry Valley, CA., eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with one due on May 28th, 2 nephews, and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband on February 6, 1997 and a grandson Derek M. Sullivan on June 13, 1999.

Michael Francis Kannenberg
(December 11, 1945 - April 26, 2013)

Michael F. Kannenberg, 67, East Moline, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. At Michael's request, his body will be cremated and there will be no services. Memorials may be made to qcpaws.org or to New Beginnings Christian Church, 4100 S. Manhattan Ave., Tampa, FL 33611.

Mike was born on December 11, 1945 in Moline, the son of Harry and Madeline (Veys) Kannenberg. He served in the US Marine Corp after High School. He married Lucille Lesthaeghe on March 12, 1983 in Silvis. Mike had owned and operated Dawnscrest Kennel in East Moline. He loved his many dogs through the years and was very fond of his current boy, Not-A-She. He was a friend of Bill W. and had played for the Quad City Mohawks.

Survivors include his wife Lucille, siblings, Frances Bratton, Silvis, Susan (Jerry) Hansen, Rock Island, and Dan (Jolene) Kannenberg, East Moline, nieces, Julie Utz, Jenna Kannenberg, Jill Lesthaeghe, and nephews, Steve Bratton, David (Laurie) Lesthaeghe and Kevin (Debbie) Lesthaeghe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Don Bratton, and nephews, Lorin and Jon.

Lucille Gelande
(June 20, 1920 - February 11, 2015)

Lucille F. Gelande, 94, formerly of Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Township cemetery, Hampton. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday (Today) at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Lucille was born on June 20, 1920 in Silvis, the daughter of Virgil and Henrietta (Kleuver) Oltman. She married Emil Gelande on December 24, 1938 in Rock Island. He died December 24, 2001. In earlier years, Lucille had worked at the former Buddy L. Toy Company, Moline, and John Deere Malleable during WWII. She had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hampton. Lucille enjoyed bingo, playing cards, reading and bowling. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and truly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events.

Survivors include her children Steve (Kathy) Gelande, Hampton, and Betty Harker, Hampton, eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a brother James (Janet) Oltman, Hampton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, and her sister Betty Maze.

The family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Hospice and Rosewood for the exceptional care shown to Lucille.

Dwight Dopler Jr.
(January 10, 1933 - February 12, 2015)

Dwight Dopler Jr., 82, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City, IL. Burial is in Rock Island National cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Quad City Honor Flight or St. John's Church, Rapids City.

Dwight was born on January 10, 1933 in Rock Island County, the son of Dwight and Dorothy (Lueders) Dopler Sr. He was a graduate of UTHS class of 1951. Dwight was drafted into the US Army and served as a corporal during the Korean Conflict, being stationed in Panama. He married Gabriella Lambrecht on January 24, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Dwight retired from Art-O-Lite, Moline as an electrician. Dwight enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked all sports and took pleasure in pitching a game of softball with family and friends. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. His greatest love was his grandchildren and great grand babies.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gabby, daughters, Debra (John) Wernick, Port Byron and Denise (Rick) DeBaillie, East Moline, grandchildren; Tyson (Jill) DeMeyer, Danielle (Rich) Willemkens, Sara (Patrick) Watson, Ashley (Dallas) Skiles, Nick DeBaillie, Terran DeMeyer and Lauren Johnson, nine great grandchildren and a brother Frank Dopler, Port Byron, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Nancy DeMeyer and Laurie Johnson, brother Harvey and sisters, Betty Foutch and Elsie Sawyer.

Dollie Campbell
(June 18, 1936 - February 25, 2015)

Dollie I. Campbell, 78, Silvis, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Riverwood, East Moline. Funeral services are 11 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Township cemetery. Visitation is from 2 until 4PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Animal Aid Humane Society, Moline or Silvis United Methodist Church.

Dollie was born on June 18, 1936 in Smithfield, IL, the daughter of Fred and Maude Kidd. She married John Campbell on November 22, 1956 in Smithfield. Dollie had worked as a tax assessor, worked over 15 years for Frank's Pizza, Silvis and was an Avon Representative for over 40 years. Dollie was an excellent cook, a master mushroom hunter and enjoyed playing bingo and bowling.

Survivors include her husband John, children, Jeri (Peter) DiIulio, Rock Island, Kelly (Scott) Finley, Huntington, IN, Mike Campbell, Peoria and John (Karlene) Campbell, Sherrard. Nine grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings.

Gary T. Damm
(July 25, 1944 - February 25, 2015)

Gary T. Damm, 70, East Moline, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.

Gary was born on July 25, 1944 in St. Charles, MO, the son of Harold and Grace (Arnold) Damm. He married Joyce Frank on April 27, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Gary managed the Meat Department for the former Eagle Foods. After retirement he became a business agent for the UFCW local 431, retiring in 2007. He served 2 years in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Gary was an avid Cardinal's Fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially “his little buddy” Bryan.

Survivors include his wife and best friend, Joyce, daughter Kristen (Joe) Lohf, Davenport, grandchildren, Bryan and Grace, and siblings, Ray (Marilyn) Damm, Silvis, Jean (Ken) Haynie, Silvis, Ruthann Welch, East Moline, Kay Chase, Moline, Neal (Barb) Damm, Davenport and Tim (Sandy) Damm, East Moline.

Duane C. Stang
(May 22, 1936 - February 27, 2015)

Duane Stang, 78, East Moline, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is from 10 AM until service time.

Duane was born on May 22, 1936 in Davenport, IA, the son of Ernest and Alice (DeRycke) Stang. He married Marilyn VanVooren and together they had 2 sons. Duane retired in June of 1985 as a supervisor from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He enjoyed playing golf when his health allowed. He was a peacetime US Army Veteran.

Survivors include his sons, Mark Stang, Galesburg, IL and Michael (Kim) Stang, Tulsa, OK, granddaughter, Gabrielle, and brother, David, Cincinnati, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Juanita and Dean.

Linda S. Welch
(May 4, 1950 - March 1, 2015)

Linda S. Welch, 64, East Moline, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

She was born May 4, 1950 in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of Leo and Rita Carter McDannald. She married Dean B. Welch on November 2, 1969 in Unionville, MO. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2000. Linda loved children and enjoyed working at the Aldridge Learning Center in East Moline. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in East Moline until her health wouldn't allow it. She was an Elvis Presley Fan and enjoyed reading and watching movies.

Survivors include her children, Laurie (Daren) Hendley, Blue Grass, IA, Raquel Welch, Davenport, and Dean B. Welch Jr., East Moline, step-sons, Dennis, Ronald, James, Randall and Paul, grandchildren, Nicholas Hendley, Kaitlin Johnson (Limberth Ponce) and Madison Walters, great-grandchildren, Kiah and Limberth Jr., and her brother Robert McDannald, Kahoka, MO.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son Daryl.

Rachel Marie Ridley
(Died March 5, 2015)

Rachel Marie Ridley, 43, of Silvis, IL, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at her home. There will be no services. Survivors include her husband, Jason, Ridley; children, Kerrie Nordstrom, Kalli Nordstrom, Cody Ridley, and Kaitlyn Ridley; stepchildren, Jason Ridley, Steven Ridley, and Amy (Jeff) Berg.

Sherman Rowland
(April 5, 1934 - February 25, 2015)

Sherman Rowland, 80, Geneseo, passed away on February 25, 2015 at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral services are 11 AM Monday, March 9, 2015 at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is from 9AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.

Sherman was born on April 5, 1934 in Wyoming, IL, the son of James and Rachel Price Rowland. He married Jo Ann David and together on June 7, 1954 in Kewanee, IL. Sherman was a career US Army Veteran, serving from 1958 until 1979, retiring as a Master Sargent. Jo Ann passed away on September 9, 2010.

Survivors include his sons, Michael (Penny) Rowland of Charleston SC; David Rowland of St Louis, MO; Steven (Polly) Rowland of Cincinnati, OH; and James Rowland, San Diego, CA, eight grandchildren, a great grandchild, and siblings, Joyce Wade, Donald Rowland, Ronald Rowland, Edward Rowland, Larry Rowland, Albert Rowland and Charles Rowland,

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harold, Frederick, William, and Margaret.

Joseph J. Depoorter
(September 25, 1930 - March 6, 2015)

Joseph J. Depoorter, 84, East Moline, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Schone's Equine Rescue, formerly known as Schone's Friendship Farm, Milan.

Joe was born on September 25, 1930 in Moline, the son of Joseph and Julia (VandenBussche) Depoorter. He was the head merchandiser for Saelens Beverage for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He managed the farm for Royal Bourbon Stables and had taught at Mud Creek Stables. Joe loved riding horses and teaching others to ride. He had taught hundreds of area youth the art of riding. Joe enjoyed his Friday night pizza and cards with his friends, and going out for dinner.

Survivors include his children Josephine Williams (Mike Veberg), Carbon Cliff and Joseph (Jackie) Depoorter, Moline, grandchildren, Wendy (Chris) Vastine, Nicole (Jeremy) Bruns, Ryan (Kasie) Depoorter, Renee (Nick) Killham, and Jahnon (Brad) Kreisler, great grandchildren, Allison, Thomas, Sophie, Sawyer, Kylie, Addison, Rece, Reagen and Luke, and siblings, Bob Depoorter, Moline, Theresa Wilson, Durant and Julia DeBlaey, Rapids, City, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marie, Antoinette, Margaret, Ann, Dorothy, Clara, Rose Marie, Betty, George and Lawrence and his son-in-law Ronald Williams.
