Anthony J. Stopoulos, 81, Moline, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 7PM. Memorials may be made to Assumption Church, where he was a member.

Tony was born on July 11, 1933 in Moline, the son of John and Catherine (Kachevas) Stopoulos. He served in the US Air Force, being stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. While in the service his father passed away and Tony returned home to help raise his siblings and care for his mother. He married Joan Vinzant on December 10, 1966 at Assumption Church. He had worked for United Airlines, owned and operated laundromats and retired as a contract specialist from the Rock Island Arsenal.

Survivors include his wife Joan, sons, William (Dana) Stopoulos, Bellingham, WA and John (Marybeth) Stopoulos, East Moline, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and siblings, Lee Stopoulos, Rockford, Jim Stopoulos, LeClaire, IA and Christine Miller, Naples, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven and brother, Peter.

Willa Ann Eddleman
(June 24, 1937 - January 5, 2015)

Willa Ann Eddleman, 77, East Moline, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, East Moline or to the family.

Ann was born on June 24, 1937 in Macomb, IL, the daughter of Ronald and Eulace (Payne) Culp. She married John "Jack" Eddleman on September 7, 1956 at First Baptist Church, East Moline, where she was a member. Mrs. Eddleman had worked for Walgreens, JC Penney, in the cafeteria for Silvis Elementary School, and retired from Cosgrave Pharmacy, Silvis. She and Jack spent many winters as “snowbirds” in El Centro, CA. Ann loved being with her family, especially her grandkids. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. After the dissappearance of her grand daughter Trudy on August 21, 1996, Ann and her daughter Brenda, dedicated their lives to finding her.

Survivors include her husband, John; children, Anita (Tom) Parkinson, Aledo, IL, and Ray (Lynda) Eddleman, Moline; grandchildren, Trudy, Halie, Madison, Wesley, and Tyler; brothers, Frank Culp, Kansas, Ron Culp, North Carolina and RJ Culp, Montana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Brenda Gordon and grandson Austin Eugene Eddleman.

Frank Staton
(November 7, 1932 - January 8, 2015)

Private funeral services for Frank Staton will be held at a later date. Frank died January 8, 2015 at Genisis Medical Center, Silvis. He was born November 7, 1932 in Downers Grove, IL. Frank married Mary Jo Carpentier, she died in January, 2009. He was an avid bowler. Survivors include his children, Carrie, Randy and Cindy.

Diane DeBord
(December 6, 1947 - January 8, 2015)

Diane Saelens DeBord, 67, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, partner, friend and chef extraordinaire passed away on January 8, 2015 with her family by her side, at Unity Point-Trinity, Rock Island. Memorial services are 11AM Tuesday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. Private family committal will be in St. Mary's cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Following Visitation, the family invites everyone to Len Browns North Shore Inn, 700 North Shore Drive, Moline, to continue the Celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare, Milan, or to the American Cancer Society.

Diane touched many lives through her gracious life of giving in so many ways. She always put family first and adored her son Mike, his wife Regan and her grandchildren.

Diane Saelens was born on December 6, 1947 in Rock Island, the daughter of Andrew and Dorothy (DePorter) Saelens. She graduated from Alleman High School, Class of 1965 and attended MaryCrest College, Davenport. Diane married Joseph DeBord on May 19, 1973. She had worked as a secretary for the Moline Police Chief, ran the cafeteria at Alleman High School, ran an in home day-care center, but most notably, she owned and operated DeBord Catering in Moline, retiring in 2010. Diane was known well in the community for her amazing cooking and kept her business, Diane DeBord Catering, busy with the many requests for her services. She was also an avid bridge player.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Regan DeBord, Surry, VA, grandchildren, Alexander, SaraRose, Dominic, Riley and Avery, brothers, Rod T. (Bethann) Saelens, Sherrard, Randy (Deborah) Saelens, Raliegh, NC and Darren Saelens, Deer River, MN, her significant other Larry Nelson and her dog Tanner.

Diane left many gifts of herself during her life journey and her light will shine here forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joe.

Steven Rasso
(September 3, 1950 - January 8, 2015)

Steven John Rasso, 64, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, TN. Funeral services are 10 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National cemetery, where MAVA will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, where he was a member.

Steve was born on September 3, 1950 in Moline, the son of David and Helen (Perez) Rasso. He graduated from UTHS. He held various jobs, last working at Metokote Corp, East Moline. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Steve was a free spirit and friend to all he met. He would help anyone who needed it. He was a good hearted loving soul. Like his dad, he was a “jack of all trades”. He enjoyed the outdoors, even if it was to only mow the grass. No matter where on earth he traveled he always looked forward to returning to his beloved “Island” he called home. Steve loved his family dearly, and loved his loud music.

Survivors include his children, Steven (Laura) Jr., Springfield, MO, and Melissa (Scott) Pryor, Ft. Riley, KS, five grandchildren, his mother Helen, East Moline, siblings, David (Crystal) Rasso Jr., East Moline, Janet (Jim) Armstrong, Silvis, Michael (Chris) Rasso, East Moline, Helen (Gene) Davis, Danville, IL, brother-in-law Cecil Hernandez, St. Charles, IL and his significant other Carol Antheunis.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister Rita Hernandez.

Betty K Eichenauer
(January 15, 1924 - January 10, 2015)

Funeral services for Betty K. Eichenauer, 90, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00AM Tuesday at the church, prior to services. Mrs Eichenauer died Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Betty Kinney was born January 15, 1924 in Hoosick Falls, NY, the daughter of Francis and Mary Grennan Kinney. She married H. Dale Eichenauer February 9, 1974 in East Moline. He died January 5, 1989. She served in the US Navy during WWII as a WAVE, where she had been a Hospital Corpman. She had worked for Dr's J.O. And J.K Hansen MD, Moline, as a medical assistant, and retired from Illini Occupational Health in 1999. Betty devoted her life to her work and family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She not only doted on her great grandchildren but all children from her extended family as well. She had been a life member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughter, Jan (Dave) Bargmann, Cape Coral, FL; granddaughter, Danielle (John) Paul; great grandchildren, Kathryn, Nathan, Christopher, and Colin Paul; sisters, Dorothy Stoneburg, Bettendorf, IA, and Mary Barber, Silvis; special friends, Dan and Linda Smolenski, Port Byron, IL, Jan Brock, Silvis, and Virgil Kain, Milan, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Suzanne Kain; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Anne Catholic Church.

Ronald Bernard Wisecarver
(November 6, 1939 - January 9, 2015)

Ronald (Ron) Bernard Wisecarver, of Coal Valley, died quietly at home with is wife of fifty two years, Terry, by his side on January 9, 2015.

Ron was born November 6, 1939 in Des Moines, IA, to Eliene Husted Wisecarver and Wendell Wisecarver. He was a graduate of Augustana College and Seminary, Rock Island, IL, and attended Mt. Airy Seminary in Philadelphia. He served the ELCA parishes in Rockport and Bangor ME, and Port Byron, IL, before devoting his life and career to services for people with developmental disabilities. He directed a number of provider agencies and was active on state and federal committees and boards devoted to enriching the lives of persons with developmental needs. He was a forerunner in the quest for good services and equal rights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law David (Linda) and niece Jenna (Nancy and Bill). He is survived by his wife, daughter Kara (Delia) foster grandsons Brandoan and Arjare, Pinjarra, W. Australia, son Andrew (Susan) and beloved grandchildren Emma, Ian, and Bryce, Valparaiso, IN. He is also in the memories of his siblings, Linda Jeynes, MI, Nancy (Bill) Stinsky, MN, Wendy (Rusty) Cunningham, CT, Dean (Sandy)Wisecarver, OH, devoted sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ted Coberly, CO, brother-in-law Mike Coverley, OR, dear friends, Joann and Bob Klinkowski, Lana and Bob Ehmke, Nancy and Jack DeVilder, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other good friends and neighbors he loved over the years.

A private gathering will be held in the spring to celebrate his precious life. As memorials for this kind and giving man, do loving things for others, oppose violence and injustice, stand for what's humane and good. Love all bodies of water, good company, good food, books, the outdoors, music and kids, be forgiving...that's what he did!

Thank you to friends and family who have walked this path with us as well as to Genesis Hospital, wound clinic and hospice staff, Light House care givers, Drs. Sorenson, Jagger and Wenck and those who tried to provide good care at the nursing home, you know who you are.

Regina L. "Gina" Edwards
(October 2, 1951 - January 9, 2015)

Regina L. “Gina” Edwards, 63, Hillsdale, IL, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline from 12 Noon until 2 PM with a time of sharing at the conclusion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to ASPCA.

Gina was born on October 2, 1951 in Moline, the daughter of Clarence and Evelyn (Dorcey) Johnson. She married Jon Edwards on November 16, 1968 in Moline. Gina had driven School Bus for the East Moline School District and worked at John Deere Parts and Distribution. She was devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband Jon, children, Sheri and Jeremy Graham, Silvis and Shawn and Amy Edwards, Spring Hill, TN, grandchildren, Jay Edwards, Abbie Graham, Corbin Edwards and Camron Edwards, and siblings, Kay (Vern) Claeys, Florida, Ed (Barb) Johnson, Texas, Dave (Robin) Johnson, East Moline and John (Chris) Johnson, East Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jack and Michael (who died in the Vietnam War).

Floyd Duane Black
(May 2, 1930 - January 12, 2015)

Floyd Duane Black, 84, of Silvis, IL died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Aspen Rehab and Health Care in Silvis, IL. Private services will be held at a later date. Floyd was born May 2, 1930 in Avon, IL, the son of Ora and Rhoda Black. He served in the military during the Korean War. He married Darlene Johnson in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Silvis, children, Randy (Deb) Black, Macomb, IL, Rodney (Dana)Traman, Taylor Ridge, IL, Julie (Gary) Shafer, Moline, IL, Steve (Ida) Traman, East Moline, IL, Roger Traman, Rock Island, IL, Robin (Lee) Thomas, Moline, IL, and Terry Traman, Orion, IL.; sister, Darlene Howe, Knoxville, IL, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arthur "Art" Harker
(February 11, 1919 - January 12, 2015)

Arthur A. “Art” Harker Jr., East Moline, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Friday, at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Burial is in Parkview cemetery, Peoria, IL. Visitation is 5-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, where he was a member.

Art was born February 11, 1919 in Peoria, IL, the son of Arthur and Marie (Naylor) Harker Sr. He married Betty L. Wilson on March 14, 1942 in Peoria. Betty died January 10, 2011. Art worked 10 years for Metropolitan Life Insurance of Peoria. In 1948 he went to work for General Foods Corporation and was transferred to the Quad Cities as an area manager. He retired on March 1, 1978. He and his wife moved to Ft. Collins, CO and lived for several years. He was an active member of his church, serving as an elder, Sunday School superintendent and financial secretary for several years. Art was a 60 year member of the Illinois Masonic Lodge 263 and TPA-Post E both of Peoria.

Survivors include his children, Suzanne (Don) Turner, Fort Collins, CO, and Sally (Richard) Abraham, East Moline, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, grandson Michael, and sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Dale Butler.

Richard "Dick" Batten
(October 6, 1927 - January 13, 2015)

Memorial services for Richard A. “Dick” Batten, 87, of Moline, IL, will be 2:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Rock Island National cemetery. Mr. Batten died January 13, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Dick was born October 6, 1927 in Moline, the son of Eddie and Mae Gustus Batten. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was stationed in the Philippines. He married Julia Ames February 20, 1954 at First Methodist Church, East Moline. He retired from Dimock & Gould also known as the Wholesale Distributing Company. Dick was an accomplished cabinet maker. He enjoyed woodworking and was always making things for others.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Batten, Moline; sons, Bruce (Christine) Batten, Silvis, IL, and Bradley (Merrilee) Batten, Batavia, IL; grandchildren, Lara J. and Ryan M. Batten; sisters, Phyllis Metz, East Moline and Carol Fleischman, Wichita, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to Animal Aid Humane Society, Moline, IL.

Mary Jane "Jeannie" Claey Streets
(May 19, 1931 - January 15, 2015)

Funeral services for Mary Jane “Jeannie” Claeys Streets, 83, of West Branch, IA, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Christ The King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Mrs. Streets died Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Crestview Care and Rehab Center, West Branch, IA. Jeannie Van Melkebeke was born May 19, 1931, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Louie and Madeline Six Van Melkebeke. She married Randall P. Claeys on May 28, 1949, in Rapids City, IL. He died on February 18, 1987. She later married Larry Streets on December 22, 2012, in Valparaiso, IN. She had owned and operated Jeannie's Beauty Shop, East Moline. She had worked at Klockau & McCarthy, Rock Island, IL, retiring after 13 years of service. Jeannie loved to dance. She was an avid ballroom dancer and square dancer. She had been a member of the Downey, Iowa Sew & So's Club. She also enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her husband, Larry Streets, West Branch; daughter, Christine Sullivan, Valparaiso; grandson, Latham Randall Sullivan, Valparaiso; step daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Ford, Charlotte, NC, and Kathryn (Mark) Worrell, West Branch; 4 step grandchildren; sister, Alice (Camiel) Albecht, Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and stepson, Michael Streets. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Fridiana Patrick Noya
(January 14, 2015 - January 15, 2015)

Fridiana Patrick Noya, infant daughter of Violet Patrick and Patrick Noya, Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Calvary International Revival Church 519 13th Avenue, Rock Island, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park cemetery.

Harold Newberg
(June 20, 1918 - January 18, 2015)

Harold Lester Newberg, 96, formerly of Hampton, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Heartland Health, Moline. Memorial services are 2 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with visitation from 1PM until service time. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline, or to a charity of your choice.

Harold was born June 20, 1918 at the home of his parents, Johan “Ben” and Hilda (Larson) Newberg, in East Moline. He worked as a Chemist for the former International Harvester Works, East Moline retiring after 46 years with the company. Harold witnessed the building of the East Moline plant and its demolition. He married Mercedes Margaret Mellon in April of 1945. She died in October of 2003. He had been a member of Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, the Moline Elks, Moline Viking Club and the Svithiod, Moline. Harold was a past member of the Hampton Village Board and served as a Trustee. He was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Moline. Harold enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing and was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Harold loved celebrating the holidays with family and friends, with his favorite holiday being New Years Eve. His practical jokes, especially those on April Fool's Day were enjoyed by all. He enjoyed hosting annual weenie roasts and Super Bowl parties. As a young man, Harold would crank up the Model A and head out to Cambridge for a Barn Dance. He even flew from the QC Airport to Chicago in the early 1940's to visit his then girlfriend after her family moved there, back when passenger travel was almost non existent.

Survivors include his children, Scott Newberg, Rock Island, Cheryl (Tom) VandeWalle, Florida and Noel (Steve) Schweitzer, Champaign, IL, grandchildren Nicole Leabo, St. Louis, MO,, Emily (Andrew) Greta, and Ellen Schweitzer, Champaign, great grandchildren, Samuel Schweitzer and Lucy Greta, sisters-in-law Constance Walker, Ohio, and Elaine Newberg, Moline, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Harriet, Bernard, Loyal and infant brother Charles.

The family would like to thank, Illini Restorative Care, Heartland Health Care and Genesis Hospice for their compassionate care of Harold.

Mary Margaret Miller
(December 8, 1943 - January 23, 2015)

Mary M. Miller, 71, East Moline, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran or to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Mary Margaret Rogers was born on December 8, 1943 in East Moline, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Lundeen) Rogers. She married Gene Miller on November 17, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Mary was a 52 year member of St. John's, serving in many capacities and attending bible studies. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, was an avid reader and loved to write. Her greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren. Mary had worked as a secretary for the former Di-Chem, Milan and later for St. John's Lutheran Center for Early Learning.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gene, children and their spouses, Bret and Amy Miller, Minnoka, IL, Brenda and Brian Lenway, Warrenville, IL and Randi and Derek Collins, Coralville, IA, grandchildren; Chelsea, Steven, Jacob, Bret II, Matthew, Destinee and Katlynn, siblings, Nancy Krack, Carbon Cliff, and George (Mary Louise) Rogers, Alexandrea, LA, half brother Richard Rogers, sister-in-law Mary Jane Rogers and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward Rogers.

Fred Anders
(July 15, 1944 - January 25, 2015)

Funeral services for Freddie Jack “Fred” Anders, 70, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Anders died Sunday, January 25, 2015, at his home. Fred was born July, 15, 1944, in Unionville, MO, the son of Lancet Herbert and Mabel Thorn Anders. He married Loretta Van Bunnen April 29, 1972, in Rock Island, IL. Mr. Anders worked several jobs in the area, retiring from Milard Maintenance Co., where he had worked at several John Deere properties. He retired in 2004 after 30 years of service. Fred was an avid bowler, St. Louis Cardinal Fan, fisherman, and enjoyed decorating his house for Christmas. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; sisters, Anna (Howard) Nelson, Crystal Govas, and Clara Krambeck; brothers, Boyd (Janet) Anders and Leslie (Jo) Anders. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen and Ruby; brothers, Lancet W., Harley, Robert, Walter and Neal. Special thanks to Trinity Pathway Hospice nurse, Kathy for her exceptional care. Memorials may be made to his wife, Loretta.
