Loretta was born March 3, 1930 in Enterprise, IL., the daughter of Lewis A. and Lora Hillard Lane. She married
James H. Coleman on April 23, 1968 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1996. Loretta was a clerk working for a gift shop on Arsenal Island.

Edward J. “Shorty”Fiebig, 97, of East Moline died Wednesday February 18, 2004 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Monday February 22, 2004 at Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-5 on Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Edward was born November 21, 1906 in Moline to William and Eva Forber Fiebig. He married
Naomi M. Bell on December 26, 1950 in McAllen, TX. Edward worked at the Q.C. Airport prior to its open date. He also worked at the Davenport Bank when it was under construction. He later shined shoes in downtown Moline. For 5 years he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal. He was later a painter and sandblaster for the Rock Island Railroad Co. Edward was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways Union. He enjoyed working in his yard and watching golf. He also enjoyed trains, model, and talking about the railroad.

Julie A. Covert, 45, of Rock Island passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center West campus, Rock Island. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Julie Covert was born May 4, 1958 in Moline to Robert L. and Dorothy J. DeVolder. She was married
to Elmer Covert in 1977. Julie very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandson Alexander. She also enjoyed music, cross stitch, camping, fishing and animals.

Daughter: Hollie J. Covert; grandson, Alexander York; mother, Dorothy DeVolder; sister Pam and (Edward) Schneider; brothers, John and (Kelly) DeVolder, and Michael DeVolder, all of Moline. Julie also had four nieces, four nephews, seven great-nieces and nephews; and best friend Phyllis Ruiz.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Robert DeVolder and grandson, Matthew.

Rowena M. Farwell, age 90 formerly of Orion died February 18, 2004 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Orion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. till service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Western Township cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church or to the Orion Educational Foundation. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd is handling the arrangements. Rowena was born February 17, 1914 in Preemption Township, IL to Edward and Ella Wiggins Farwell. Rowena graduated from Western Illinois University and taught school for 40 years. The first 15 years she taught in rural one-room schools. The last 25 years she taught in the Orion school district teaching fifth grade and middle school science. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Orion United Methodist Church Queen Esther circle. She was an ambassador for the People to People program traveling in many foreign countries.

Linda L. Landen Fackeldey, 60 of Moline died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. A memorial mass will be held 10:00am Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline. There will be a visitation from 9:30am until service time. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to her family. Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. is handling arrangements. Linda Fackeldey was born August 27, 1943 in Rock Island to Norbert A. and Cynthia Green Fackeldey. Linda was currently a supervisor of patient services working for Gentiva Health Services at the Fort Armstrong, Rock Island for the last 15 years.

Retha Virginia Frey, 94, formerly of East Moline died February 14, 2004 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law at Lake Lynnwood, Lynn Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2004 at First Baptist Church, East Moline. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2004 from 3-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or to First Baptist Church, East Moline. Retha Husson was born May 29, 1909 in Beacon, IA to Alfred D. and Sarah Owens Husson. She married
Roy T. Frey on April 23, 1938. He preceded her in death in June of 1979. Retha was a sales person at the JcPenny’s in downtown Moline and shoe person at the former LaRose shop in Moline. Retha was an active member of First Baptist Church, East Moline where she was a former church board member. She also took part in bible study on Thursday mornings, the bizarre each fall and the cookie walk at Christmas time. She enjoyed doing needlework. She dearly loved her family, grandchildren and her church. She was truly cherished by her family and friends.
