Ralph R. “Bob” Spencer age 75 of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 8:10 AM.
Bob was born on June 28, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Andrew and Helen Spencer. He married
Rita Jones on July 9, 1955 in Galesburg, Illinois. She resides in Galesburg.
Also surviving are his 4 children; Kenneth W. (and Lisa) Spencer of Naperville, Illinois, Georgenne Admire of Galesburg, Jeffrey (and Joy) Spencer of Knoxville, John (and Nancy) Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, 2 brothers; Neil (and Alice) Spencer of Galesburg, John Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and 1 Grandson.
Bob was employed by the BNSF Rail Road as an Engineer. He retired after 42 years of service. He was also a member of the Knoxville Pacific Lodge No. 66 AF & AM, Knoxville, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus.

Vernon A. Mellentin of Galesburg, Illinois passed away in Galesburg, Illinois on June 3, 2013 at 12:35 AM.
He was born on July 2, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Julia (Pottker) Mellentin. He married
Joyce H. Hubele on February 25, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2013.
They had two children; Robin C. and Jay S. Mellentin. She is also survived by her granddaughter Tammy L. Mellentin and Tammy’s mother Carrie L. Edson, three great-grandchildren; Nicole Marie Mellentin, Kimberly Joyce Mellentin, and Jason Earl Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Vernon proudly served his country during WWII as a member of The United States Army. After his military service, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked as a Design Engineer for several companies including; Hotpoint, Amana, Admiral and then retiring from Maytag. While at Amana he helped pioneer and design the household microwave that we still use today.
Per his request cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Congregational Church in Galesburg. The Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois is assisting the family.

Jencyn Stancomb and Graycen Stancomb, died at 2:14 PM on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
Surviving are their parents: Heidi and Garrett Stancomb of Galesburg, Illinois; sisters and brothers: Brycen McFadden, Troy Stancomb, Madisyn Johnson, Piercyn Stancomb and Karsyn Stancomb. Also surviving is their grandfathers: Fred Stancomb of Galesburg, Illinois; Jeffrey McFadden of Canton, Illinois, aunts and uncles: Dixie Gustafson, Toni Horton, Jeff (Brandi Bridgewater) McFadden, Fred Stancomb, Jr., Troy (Katherine Simpson) Stancomb and Cynthia Dunn. Several cousins also survive.
Jencyn and Graycen were preceded in death by their grandparents: Roger Morris, Patricia Morris, Rhonda McFadden and great grandparents: Paul and Virginia Adams, Irene and Stanley Horton, Helen and Roy Stancomb.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donna Mae Meyer, 74, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Geneseo, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at St. Malachys Church, Geneseo. Visitation is 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. before the time of services at church. Burial is at Moline Memorial Park cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Nursing Home or St. Malachys Church.
Donna was born in Moline, Illinois, March 24, 1937, the only child born to Melvin C. & Nona Mae (Fayram) Slader Meyer.
After the death of her father, Melvin, in May 1937, when she was just 3 months old, she lived with her mother, Nona Mae, until 1982.
Due to disability, she spent the past 30 years in nursing homes and was a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home since 1995. Despite many hardships, Donna Mae trusted her soul to God and was a devoted Catholic. Donna was respected by all who knew her and had many friends with whom she corresponded with regularly.
She leaves mourning her death cousins, Mary Gehant, Rockford, IL, Sr. Patricia Clark, SVM, Dubuque, IA, Elizabeth Ann Enright, Ft. Collins, CO, Major (US Army Ret.) John A. Richardson and wife Connie, Havre de Grace, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Donald Brice, step-brother, Jack Ernest Slader Meyer, and her beloved aunt, Dorene (Meyer) Mummert.

Rene was born October 2, 1936 in Osorno, Chile, the son of Felipe Alvarez -Zuñiga & Pabla Proboste. He married
Norma Esther Castillo in La Union, Chile.
He worked as a bus driver for a private transportation company in Osorno, Chile.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, a daughter and son in law, Marta & Axel Noriega, all of Moline and 1 daughter & 1 son in Argentina.

Angela R. Idoux, 80, formerly of Coal Valley, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Kahl Home, Davenport, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at St. Maria Goretti Church, Coal Valley. Following the funeral mass the body will be cremated. The cremains will be placed in the columbarium at Calvary cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Maria Goretti Church.
Angela was born August 10, 1931, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Stephen & Angela Colin Idoux.
She was employed by the CA Department of Correction as an administrator for 25 years, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews among whom is Steven (Barbara) Stiles and friends, Libby Trego, Orion, IL & Margaret Francescon, Coal Valley.

Edna was born November 7, 1921, in New Windsor, IL, the daughter of William & Freda Roettler Peterson. She married
Leonard P. Riddell May 1, 1939, in Aledo, IL. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She was employed for 19 years as a waitress in the Prime Rib Room at the former LeClaire Hotel, Moline, until its closing.
Edna was a member of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed bingo and shopping at the malls.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Paulette & Edd Engelkens, Morrison, son and daughter in law, Ronald & Geraldine Riddell, Milan, grandchildren, Barry ( Patti) Riddell, Andalusia, Linda Eagle, Prophetstown, Joleen (Charles) Rasso, Albany, Kelly (Jim H.) Rathburn, Fulton, and Geri (William) Miles, Rock Island. There are 10 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
John D. Sweeney

John D. Sweeney, 55, of Milan, was born July 3, 1955 to John B. and Virginia W. Sweeney. He enjoyed life until May 5, 2011 when he passed away at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2011, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the New Kingdom Trail Riders.
John was born in Igloo, SD. He married
Beverly J. Randles on August 12, 1978 in Moline. Eleven years later, they had a son, Patrick J. Sweeney. Beverly preceded him in death on October 1, 2008.
He was employed at Eagle Foods, 41st Street & Avenue of the Cities for 20 years. After retiring from Eagles, his passion for photography led to ownership of John Sweeney Photography, Moline.
During his life, John enjoyed fishing, golf, therapeutic horseback riding and taking part in the Quad City Computer Society with friends. He attended Christ the King Church, Moline.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick J. & Brooke R. Sweeney, Elmhurst, IL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon S. Sweeney, Chicago, Mary Ann & John Merano, Springfield, IL, Kathleen & Jim Jones, Davenport and Michele Sweeney, Milan and a nephew, Michael A. Merano, Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly and brother, James Michael Sweeney.

Frank Stablein, Jr., 64, of Moline, passed away Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Frank was born September 7th, 1948, in Moline, the son of Frank S. & Shirley (Hansen) Stablein, Sr..
He worked as Great Dane Trailer for 15 years.
Frank was a fun loving man and liked to socialize with his friends, including those at Sanders Apartments. He loved all sports, especially baseball and the Chicago Cubs. He liked to socialize with friends, who called him “crazy Frank”, and was known as the “Great Santini”. He also enjoyed Neil Diamond and Dean Martin.
Surviving are his sons, Jeff Stablein, CA and Otto Stablein, Kewanee; mother, Shirley Phillips, Milan; granddaughter, Sofia Stablein, CA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maye Talbot, Kewanee, Sharon & Jack Olds, Rock Island, Julie & Larry Neels, Kewanee, Margie & Chris Wagner, Chicago, Sue Dalton, Rock Island and Joann Stribling, Moline; step-brothers, Jim, Jerry & John Cross and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Sr. and brothers Bob and Bill.

Joseph Francis Wolfsmith, Jr., 76, a resident of Heritage Woods, Moline, passed away Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 at Trinity Rock Island.

Joseph was born July 30th, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph F. and Helen (Gleason) Wolfsmith Sr.
He previously had worked as a car salesman.
Joe enjoyed telling jokes and stories of his life. He enjoyed picking on the staff at Heritage Woods, but always with a good sense of humor. Joe will be missed by all.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Ellen Sullivan, sons, Michael Wolfsmith & Willaim Wolfsmith and many friends at Heritage Woods of Moline.

Theresa E. DeCrane, 83, of East Moline, formerly of Abingdon, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 7th, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Nursing & Rehab Center, Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14th, 2013 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, East Moline. Visitation is Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Abingdon cemetery, Abingdon, IL. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate Clinic, Peoria.
Theresa was born February 12th, 1930, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Vincent & Antoinette (Morlok) Klauer. She married
Donald L. DeCrane on September 20th, 1952 in Rock Island.
She worked as an RN at Cottage Hospital, then Director of Nursing at Abingdon Care Center and later was the Director of Nursing for Knox County Nursing Center for 13 years, retiring in 1985.
Theresa was a member of St. Anne’s Church, former member of Sacred Heart Church, Abingdon, Sacred Heart Altar & Rosary Society and the National Catholic Society of Foresters.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; daughter and son-in-law, Christine & Greg Miecznikowski, Chesterton, IN; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas & Irita DeCrane, Moline and Daniel & Becky DeCrane, London Mills, IL; 7 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet & Ron Norman, Coal Valley and Cecelia & Mike Kargel, Rock Island; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent Klauer, Rock Island, Dick & Irene Klauer, Rock Island, Clarence & Shirley Klauer, East Moline, William & Kay Klauer, Milan, David & Jean Klauer, Coal Valley and Bernard & Carol Klauer, Taylor Ridge, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Linda, son Stephen and brother Arnold.
