CASEY, Ill. - Roy W. Swim, 68, of Casey died at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Casey to Isaac W. Swim and Edna Irene Swim Swim. Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Carver Swim; four daughters, Peggy Low, Chris Gangloff, Kim Nelson and Shirley Hall; one brother, Larry Swim; two sisters, Marie Cargle and Lola S. Blunk; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 10 a.m. CST Friday in the First Church of the Nazarene in Casey, with the Rev. Steve Green officiating. Burial is in Casey Cumberland cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Markwell & Son Funeral Home.

Mary Adaline Athey Legg

ROBINSON, Ill. - Mary Adaline Athey Legg, 78, of Robinson died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in her residence from complications of Parkinson's Disease. She was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Sumner to Gus Mieure and Bessie Nelson Mieure. Her first husband, Earl Athey, died Jan. 6, 1967. Survivors include her husband, Otis Legg; two daughters, Linda L. McCoy and Lisa Bogard; one stepson, Ron Legg; one stepdaughter, Janet Legg; five grandchildren; four stepgrandsons; four brothers, Jerry Mieure, Martin Mieure, Leslee Mieure, and Jack Mieure; two sisters, Thelma Adkins and Edna Ahfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are 10:30 a.m. CST Saturday in the Chaplin Street Church of Christ, with the Rev. Raymond Warfel officiating. Graveside services are noon Saturday in Sumner cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today and before 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Goodwine Funeral Home, and before services in the church.

Joseph Edgar Parrish

PARIS, Ill. - Joseph Edgar Parrish, 84, of Paris died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born Jan. 20, 1918, in Paris, to Edgar Parrish and Ruth R. Curtis Parrish. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Noyes; one son, James A. Parrish; one daughter, Janice R. Baum; two granddaughters; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Services are 7 p.m. CST Saturday in Sutton & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Pringle officiating. Private burial is in Edgar cemetery. Visitation is noon until services Saturday, with the family present after 4 p.m.

Martha E. Grant

WEST YORK, Ill. - Martha E. Grant, 77, of rural West York died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Good Samaritan Village in Geneseo, following a long battle with cancer. She was born April 13, 1925, in West Union to Albert Newlin and Mabel Rains Newlin. Survivors include one daughter, Carmen Castro; three sons, Wynne Ritch, Brad Ritch and Kim Ritch; two stepdaughters, Debbie Grant Fuller and Terri Fagerstrom; two stepsons, David Grant and Brian Grant; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one nephew; and two great-nephews. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with the Rev. Jim Freeman officiating Burial is in Harrison cemetery, west of West Union. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2002, and 7 a.m. until services Saturday, July 6.

Elizabeth Ruth Duke

PARIS, Ill. - Elizabeth Ruth Duke, 45, of Paris, Ill., died at 6:58 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in Stratton Township in Edgar County, Ill. She was born Feb. 14, 1957, in Tulsa, Okla., to Bobby Dake and Jackie Bowman Dake. Survivors include her husband, Ed Duke; her mother and stepfather, Jackie Dake New and Glen New; two sons, Christopher Bowerly and Steven Bowerly; four stepsons, Mike Duke, Ed Duke, Rod Duke and Mark Duke; one brother, Joe Dake; two sisters, Bobbie Joe Monahan and Pam Brown; one stepsister, Patricia Shaw; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday in Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home. Burial is in Dunlap cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Leroy Rigdon

PARIS, Ill. - Leroy Rigdon, 73, of Paris, Ill., died at 7:57 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, in Paris Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Paris to Amos Albert Rigdon and Nellie Marie Utterback Rigdon. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Turner Rigdon; two sons, Gene Rigdon and Mike Simpson; one daughter, Bobbie Throneburg; four brothers, Ralph Eugene Rigdon, Harold Rigdon, Charles Amos Rigdon and Dale Rigdon; two sisters, Linda Rue and Sharon Layton; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. Friday in Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home. Burial is in Edgar cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Jack William Tracy

PARIS, Ill. - Jack William Tracy, 69, of Paris died at 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in his residence. He was born June 22, 1933, in Mattoon to Harold Tracy and Dorothy Smith Tracy. Survivors include his wife, Alice Ann Heischmidt Tracy; two sons, Stephen Tracy and Scott Tracy; one daughter, Michelle Gilles; and seven grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. CST Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Overmann officiating. Burial is in St. Mary's cemetery, with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 211 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3601. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home, with a wake prayer and rosary at 7 p.m.

Mary E. Spittler Macke

WEST UNION, ILL. - Mary E. Spittler Macke, 89, of rural West Union died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, in Burnsides Nursing Home in Marshall, Ill. She was born Oct. 25, 1913, in Anderson Township, Clark County, Ill., to David Spittler and Edna Kelly Spittler. She married Arnold C. Macke on May 11, 1940. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1999. Survivors include five sons, Joe Macke and his wife, Betty, Ken Macke and his wife, Eleanor, all of rural West Union, John Macke and his wife, Patty, Dr. Steve Macke and his wife, Beth, all of Marshall, and David Lynn Macke of Denver; two daughters, Alice Schroeder and her husband, Joe, of Marshall, and Sue Shaw and her husband, Dr. Lloyd Shaw, of Woodstock, Ill.; one sister, Margret Rhoads of Oakland, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kelly Spittler, Luther Spittler and Truman Spittler; and two sisters, Lillie Davison and Rose Arney. She was a homemaker who also taught school for seven years in the Martinsville, Ill., area. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Marshall and had attended Brick United Methodist Church of rural West Union. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Daughters of the American Revolution, Walter Burdick Chapter. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 in Brick United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial is in Walnut Prairie cemetery, northeast of West Union. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday in the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brick United Methodist Church or the Marshall School Foundation.

Dwight T. Beltz

MARSHALL, Ill. - Dwight T. Beltz, 76, of Marshall died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Burnsides Nursing Home. He was the retired owner and operator of Beltz & Son Trucking Co., of Marshall and was retired from Pearce Funeral Home. He was born March 14, 1925, in Wabash Township, Clark County to Fred Beltz and Faye Thompson Beltz. His wife, Maxine Pruiett Beltz, whom he married Feb. 3, 1944, in Robinson, died Jan. 3, 1999. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Charles Bucher of Marshall and Sandra and Ben Johnson of West Terre Haute; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Beth Beltz of Marshall; one brother and sister-in-law, Dudley and Doris Beltz of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Sherri Bucher-Yiannoutsos, Jessie Beltz, Brice Bucher, Travis Beltz, Phillip Beltz, Zack Johnson and Andy Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Theodore Yiannoutsos, Alexandra Yiannoutsos, Brenna Beltz, Zia Beltz and Zander Johnson. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he was a former deacon, elder and trustee and was active with Marshall Peace Meal and was a member of the Forever Young Chorus. He was a graduate of Marshall High School. Services are 10:30 a.m. CST Saturday in Pearce Funeral Home, with Brothers John Cutshall and Jeff Noel officiating. Burial is in Marshall cemetery. Pallbearers are Brice Bucher, Travis Beltz, Phillip Beltz, Zack Johnson, Andy Johnson and Ed Pearce. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7 a.m. until services Saturday. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Marshall; or, to the Cornerstone Bible Church of Terre Haute, IN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

W.A. "Bill' McCracken

ROBINSON, Ill. - W.A. "Bill" McCracken, 76, of Robinson died at 2 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, in Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio. He was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Greenville to Arthur McCracken and Ruby Ehrstine McCracken. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hull; two sons, Mike McCracken and Mac McCracken; one daughter, Marsha Mount; one brother, Boyd McCracken; six grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. Services are 2 p.m. CST Saturday in Robinson First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Barnett officiating. Cremation is scheduled. Visitation will follow services. Goodwine Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Virginia L. Cameron

PARIS, Ill. - Virginia L. Cameron, 84, of Paris died at 7:53 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, in Paris Community Hospital. She was born July 15, 1918, in Shelbyville, Tenn., to James Guy Reed and Lou Ella Overcast Reed. Her first husband, James Frank Smitha; and her second husband, Victor Cameron, both died earlier. Survivors include two sons, James Smitha and Larry Smitha; two brothers, Wiley Morton Reed and Avery Reed; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. CST Monday in Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home, with Glenn Arbuckle officiating. Burial is in Memorial Gardens cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. until services Monday.

Martha E. Grant

WEST YORK, Ill. - Martha E. Grant, 77, of rural West York died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Good Samaritan Village in Geneseo, following a long battle with cancer. She was a homemaker and also had been employed by the Crawford County Clerk and the Crawford County Supervisor of Assessments from 1957 to 1970. She was born April 13, 1925, in West Union to Albert Newlin and Mabel Rains Newlin. Survivors include one daughter, Carmen Castro and her husband, George of Geneseo; three sons, Wynne Ritch and his wife, Rosemary of Northridge, Calif., Brad Ritch and his wife, Cathy of Long Beach, Calif., and Kim Ritch and his wife, Patricia of Torrance, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Debbie Grant Fuller and Terri Fagerstrom and her husband, Pat; two stepsons, David Grant and Brian Grant and his wife, Liz; one brother, Morgan Newlin of rural Hutsonville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one nephew; and two great-nephews. She was a member of Marshall American Legion Golf Course for a number of years; one of her proudest accomplishments was that of sinking a hole-in-one in Florida. A crafter, she was widely known for her Barbie doll clothes, dishcloths and afghans, and had won many state and local fair ribbons. She wintered in California with her sons for 18 consecutive years, and kept a diary for over 60 years. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union. Burial is in Harrison cemetery, west of West Union. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2002, and 7 a.m. until services Saturday, July 6.

Louise Guyer Fleenor

WEST YORK, Ill. - Louise Guyer Fleenor, 79, of West York died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in the Olney Care Center, following an extended illness. She was a homemaker; a business office employee of the Ammunitions Depot in Evansville, Ind.; and head of the payroll department of the Ohio Oil Co. in Robinson. She was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Hutsonville Township, Crawford County, to Harry Guyer and Margaret Cooper Guyer. Her husband, Robert F. Fleenor, died Aug. 27, 1990. Survivors include one daughter, Connie Sexton and her husband, Harold Sexton of West York; two granddaughters, Tami Eagleson and her husband, Dan Eagleson and Lana Sexton, all of West York; and several cousins. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Audra Currens; and one brother, Verlin Guyer. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Friends Church and of the Hutsonville Parent Teacher Association for years. Services are 1 p.m. CST Wednesday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with the Rev. Don Russell officiating. Burial is in the Guyer cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. CST Tuesday and 7 a.m. CST Wednesday until services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
