MARSHALL, Ill. - Denzil G. Henderson, 87, of Marshall died at 7:35 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in his residence. He was born May 15, 1917, in Casey to Sherman Henderson and Elsie Bell Henderson. Survivors include his wife, Donna Haenig Henderson; three sons, Gary Henderson, Mike Henderson and Myron Henderson; one sister, Eva Moore; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Private services will be at a later date in Marshall cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Pearce Funeral Home.

Mary Ollinger

MARSHALL, Ill. - Mary Ollinger, 86, of Marshall and formerly of Kansas, Ill., died at 6:55 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in Paris Health Care Center. She was born Jan. 1, 1918, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Warren Switzer and Melvina Hammond Switzer. Survivors include one son, Harry Lewis; one daughter, Sylvia Fleener; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. today in Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will follow in the Marshall cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. until services.

Mimia May Beuhler

MARSHALL, Ill. - Mimia May Beuhler, 94, of Sumner, and formerly of Marshall died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in the Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Ind. She had resided in the Ketchum Memorial Nursing Home in Odon, Ind., for the past several months to be closer to her grandchildren. She was born April 7, 1910, in Kansas, Ill., to Freeman Lone and Gertrude Ferris Lone. Her husband, Arthur Beuhler, died Oct. 27, 1979. Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Mary Beuhler of Odon and Libby Beuhler of Florida; five grandchildren, Bryan Beuhler, Bobby Beuhler and Penny Robertson, all of Odon, Kimberly McKee of Bloomington, Ind., and Julie Beuhler of Colorado; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Billie Beuhler and Rondal Beuhler; one grandson, Steven Beuhler; and two brothers, Jonathon Lone and Oren Lone. She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Sumner. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Constable officiating. Burial is in Marshall cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. until services Thursday, in the funeral Home.

Harold E. Johns

DENNISON, Ill. - Harold E. Johns, 86, of Dennison died Saturday evening, Aug. 21, 2004, in Burnsides Nursing Home in Marshall. He was a retired farmer. He was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Dennison to Joseph Harrison Johns and Susie Alice Taylor Johns. Survivors include his wife, Thelma J. Johnson Johns, whom he married Nov. 21, 1943, in Dennison; one daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Bob Pound of Rosedale, Ind.; two grandsons, Rob Pound and wife Connie of Midland, Mich., and Rod Pound of Rosedale; two great-grandchildren, Codi Pound and Nicholas Pound, both of Midland; and a sister, Dorothea Bland of Dennison. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Faye Johns, in 1950; and two brothers, Robert Johns and Harry Johns. He was a member of World Gospel Church, where he was a former board member. He had been a shareholder in WVTS and the Vigo County Farm Bureau. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Pearce Funeral Home at 314 S. Sixth St., Marshall, with Brother Brad Bumgardner officiating. Burial is in Dunlap cemetery in Dennison, with graveside military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 and Clark County Post 90 American Legion. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. until services Wednesday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to World Gospel Missions or to Oriental Missionary Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

James. C. McCarty Sr.

HANOVER, Ill. - James C. McCarty Sr., 76, of rural Hanover, and formerly of Sandford, Ind., died Monday, August 16, 2004, in his residence. He was born November 27, 1927, in Sandford to Lloyde and Hazel Irene Winkleblack McCarty. He married Mary Parr on June 30, 1948, in West Terre Haute, Ind., and she preceded him in death Nov. 15, 2002, in Elizabeth. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Jean Monroe and her husband Ron of Charlotte, Mich., and Anna Lynn Grim and her husband Joe of Jesup, Ga.; one son, James McCarty Jr. and his wife Karen of Savanna; one grandson, Jay Austin and his wife Shanna; one granddaughter, Julia Woessner and her husband Daniel; one brother, Thurman McCarty of Terre Haute, Ind.; and two sisters, Jeanette Martin of Plainfield, Ind., and Margaret Cox and her husband Wayne of Terre Haute. Services are 10 a.m. today in Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, with the Rev. Floyd West officiating. Burial is in Evergreen cemetery with full military rites.

Philip B. Birchfield

WEST UNION, Ill. - Philip B. Birchfield, 76, of rural West Union, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. He was a retired timber cutter and the former owner and operator of Birchfield Logging Co. He was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Marshall, Ill., to Gus Birchfield and Margaret Jewell Birchfield. He married Della Mae Taylor on Oct. 19, 1952, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 2002. Survivors include four sons, Gary Birchfield and his wife Linda of Lowden, Iowa, Terry Birchfield and his wife Jackie of Marshall, Larry Birchfield and his wife Sarah of Jasonville, Ind., and Doit Birchfield and his fiancee Terri Earlywine of Hutsonville; two daughters, Jennie Milam of West Union and Julie Lackey and her husband, Steve of Bartelso; one brother, Warren Birchfield of Paris; a half sister, Wanda Batson of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, two stepgrandsons; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgreat-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Ann Birchfield; a grandson, Jerry Birchfield; a great-grandson, Brendan Alan Birchfield; three brothers, David Birchfield, Carol Birchfield and Doit Birchfield; one sister, Emma Marcene Birchfield; and a half brother, Loren Birchfield. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Clark County American Legion Post 90 in Marshall. He also was a member of West Union Christian Church. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Cooperider officiating. Burial is in Mount Pleasant cemetery, rural Martinsville, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 90 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7 a.m. to services Thursday in the funeral home.

Helen L. Wilkins

MARSHALL, Ill. - Helen L. Wilkins, 76, of Marshall, died at 10:29 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. She was born May 18, 1928, in Dennison to William and Cora Bell Horsley Ramsey. She married James Wilkins on June 6, 1949, in West Terre Haute, Ind., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2000. She is survived by one grandson, Brian Wilhoit of Marshall; three daughters, Joan Knight of Paris, Nancy Wilkins of Indianapolis, and Mary Treasner; and two brothers, Chester Ramsey of Marshall and Taylor Ramsey of Florida. She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday in Edgar cemetery in Paris, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. There is no visitation. Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall assisted with arrangements.

Linda F. Claypool

MARTINSVILLE, Ill. - Linda F. Claypool, 58, of Martinsville died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. She was a floor clerk for Wal-Mart in Marshall, Ill. She was born Dec. 5, 1945, in Terre Haute to Lester Parsons and Nettie Eller Parsons. Survivors include her husband, Dave Claypool, whom she married Nov. 8, 1964, in Marshall; a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Chasity Claypool of Martinsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Angel and John Knauer of Martinsville; a granddaughter, Caitlyn Claypool, and the special couple who raised her, Leon and Caroline Garner of Marshall; three sisters, Peggy Sanders, Susan Richardson and Nancy Rhodes; and two brothers, David Garner and Terry Garner, and their families. She was a 1964 graduate of Marshall High School. She was a member of First Christian Church in Marshall. She was an accomplished vocalist and performed at many area festivals and events. She will especially be remembered for her Patsy Cline musical selections. She had been active with the Marshall Mellow Players for several years. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, with John Cutshall officiating. Burial is in Dunlap cemetery, rural Dennison. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7 a.m. to services Saturday in the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Frieda B. Huey

MARSHALL, Ill. - Freida B. Huey, 78, of Marshall died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in her residence. She was a homemaker and was retired from TRW, Inc. in Marshall after 30 years of service as an electronics assembler, and was a homemaker. She was born April 2, 1926, in Clark County to Clifford Turner and Eva Waller Turner. Survivors include her husband, Dwight Huey, whom she married on May 9, 1942; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Lena Huey of Marshall; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joy and Ted Wagner of Terre Haute, Ind., Ann and Robert Ledermann of rural West Union and Gale Dial of Springfield; one brother, Virgil Turner of Marshall; one sister, Jane Duzan of Marshall; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Mabel McDaniel, May Lee, Ruby Arbutti and Garnet Morecraft. She was a very active member of First Christian Church in Marshall. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church, with the Rev. David Huey officiating. Burial is in Marshall cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7 a.m. Saturday until services in the church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Lincolnland or to the Leukemia Foundation, with envelopes available in the church. Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra S. Schwager

CASEY, Ill. - Sandra S. Schwager, 67, of Casey died at 3:27 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in her residence. She was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Terre Haute, Ind. to John Sexson and Mary Marguerite Ash Sexson. Survivors include her husband, David Schwager; four sons, Michael Schwager of Shoals, Ind., Orian Phillips of Chicago, Mark Alexander and his wife Lisa of New Jersey and David Schwager of Chicago; four daughters, Mary Ragsdale and her husband Steve of Shoals, Mary Marguerite and her husband Danny of Round Lake, Linda Baker of Bruceville, Ind., and Darlene Hagy and her husband Lincoln of Terre Haute; a brother, Warren Sexson of Okinawa, Japan; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Wallace Wayne Sexson, John Richard Sexson, James Edward Sexson and Gerald Eugene "PeeWee" Sexson. She was a member of the Casey Women's Moose Lodge and the Greenwood American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Greenwood, Mich. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Kings Harvest Foursquare Gospel Church in Terre Haute, with the Rev. Dennis Leek officiating. Cremation has been scheduled, with burial of the ashes in Woodlawn cemetery.

Margaret L. Jones

CASEY, Ill. - Margaret L. Jones, 86, of Casey died at 1:44 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in Vermilion Manor in Tilton. She had worked in Ettlebrick Shoe Factory in Casey and in the Gary Sheet and Tin Mill in Gary, Ind., and she also was a homemaker. She was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Cumberland County to Charles C. Rodebaugh and Jessie M. Lawson Rodebaugh. Survivors include one sister, Opal Louise Fox of Tilton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Martin and Mildred Searcy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries in Greenup. She was a true friend to all who knew her. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in Markwell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Oakley officiating. Burial is in Casey Cumberland cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. to services Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, 700 W. Lincoln, Charleston, IL 61920.

Sheila Michelle Rangel

ROBINSON, Ill. - Sheila Michelle Rangel, 63, of Robinson died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital. She was a registered nurse. She was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Chicago, to John Rangel and Elizabeth Mead Rangel. Survivors include her mother of Chicago; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Bettijean Rangel, of Chicago; two nieces, Linda Gambino-Giesel and her husband David, of Bartlett, and Laura Rangel of Elgin; great-niece and great-nephew, Gabrielle and Nicolas, both of Bartlett; a very special friend that she taught with and worked with for several years, Tammy Fralicker, of Palestine; and another special friend whom she considered to be her grandson, Nicholas Halterman. She was preceded in death by her father and her sister, Andrea Gambino. She received her bachelor of science degree from Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College, a master's degree in education from Indiana State University, an associate degree in nursing in 1974 from Indiana Central University in Indianapolis, a bachelor's degree in nursing from ISU in 1990, and a master's degree in nursing from ISU in 1992. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing Society and the Indiana State Nurses Association. After completing her education, she spent four years at Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods Providence Infirmary, two years on the Medical-Surgical Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, 12 years at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Medical-Surgical, Transitional Care, Oncology, and Neurological units; and one-and-one-half years at Putnamville Correctional Facility in Putnamville, in the Health Care Unit. She taught for seven-and-one-half years in elementary school; four years at ISU School of Nursing in both the AD and the BSN program; and was full time staff nurse at the Robinson Correctional Facility until the present time. Funeral services are 7 p.m. CST Friday, in Goodwine Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Brand officiating. Burial is in the Queen of Heaven cemetery/Mount Carmel, in Hillside, at a later date. Visitation is 4 p.m. until services Friday. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
