CARMI, Ill. — Grayce B. Tedrow, 88, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at White County Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
She worked for General Telephone for more than 40 years, retiring as a chief operator.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Business and Professional Women’s Organization.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Campbell Funeral Home Carmi Chapel, with burial in Maple Ridge cemetery.

Wilmer Graham
OBLONG, Ill. — Wilmer H. Graham, 78, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville.
He owned and operated Graham Welding, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, past president and former member of the Black Oak, Ind., Eagles and former union steward for the Iron Workers Union in Hammond, Ind.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean Lawhead of Dieterich; four sons, Larry Hocking of Griffith, Ind., Ivan Graham of Hobart, Ind., John Graham of Robinson and Michael Graham of Minot, N.D.; two sisters, Ruth Mendenhall of Palestine and Juanita Smith of California; two brothers, Ralph and Kenny, both of Kansas City, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Evelyn M. (Weathers), died in 1998.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Berlin cemetery in rural Oblong.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong Chapel and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

McLEANSBORO, Ill. — Rural Russell “Jake” Springer, 83, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at his home.
He retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections in Vienna as a guard.
He was a member of Pleasant Union Congregational Christian Church and the McLeansboro Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Preston of Mill Shoals; six grandchildren, Penny Nipper, Jeannette Gass, Yvette Henager, Cindy Ashley, Cherie Gerdel and Kent Preston; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby C. (Etienne), in 1992, a daughter, Dorothy Canady, and by a son, Walter Lee.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Gholson Funeral Home, with burial in Old Springer cemetery near McLeansboro.

Wilburn Smith
ENFIELD, Ill. — Wilburn R. “Coke” Smith, 84, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Vera E. (Frymire); a daughter, Judy Smith of Colp; three sons, John R. of Enfield and Jim and Jeffrey, both of Norris City; two sisters, Ruby F. DeBeaux of Aurora, Colo., and Rosemary Cuka of Arizona; a brother, Wilfred of McLeansboro; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joellen Smith.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home Carmi Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for Masses at the church.
Judy Fisher
ALBION, Ill. — Judy Fisher, 79, formerly of Albion, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Newton Rest Haven Manor Nursing Home in Newton.
Surviving are a sister, Madge McKinney of West Point, Miss.; and two brothers, Clyde and Roe Songer, both of Newton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Nale’s Funeral Home Albion Chapel, with burial in Bethel cemetery.

ROSICLARE, Ill. — Herschell Glenn Turner, 59, of Chester, formerly of Hardin County, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Karen Collier of Steeleville and Kim Gartley of Chester; three sons, Kevin of Chester, Ken of Ellis Grove and Kris of Great Falls, Mont.; four sisters, Jane Manazares of Pueblo, Colo., Emma Blair of Shawneetown and Norma Hogg and Ruth Miller, both of Rosiclare; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Schroeder-McClure Funeral Home in Chester and at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Honeycomb Church of God in Herod, with burial in Empire cemetery in Elizabethtown.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Delmar Huffine
MACEDONIA, Ill. — Delmar Ray Huffine, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Westside Care Center in West Frankfort.
He retired from International Harvester in Melrose Park after 30 years as a machine operator.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Frankfort, Masonic Lodge.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Caroline Murillo of Melrose Park; a son, Tommy of Macedonia; a brother, Ronald of Thompsonville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. His wife, Evelyn Louise (Tyler), died in 1997.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton, with burial in Knob Prairie cemetery in Akin, with military rites.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Patty Jean Stanker, 49, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at her home. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Charles; two daughters, Charity Jean Smallwood of Lawrenceville and Tandy Jean Hughes of Bridgeport; a son, Charles D. Jr. of Lawrenceville; a sister, Sandy Harvey of Lawrenceville; a brother, Frank Harvey of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. — Mary B. McCuiston, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Cox South Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
She had worked as a bookkeeper for a food wholesaler.
She was Methodist. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine and had been worthy matron and worthy high priestess.
Surviving are two brothers, Drs. Francis and Harry Ellis, both of Springfield; nieces and nephews; and companions and caregivers, Mozel McCuiston and Auda Wrye.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memorial cemetery.

Douglas Mahrenholz
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Douglas L. Mahrenholz, 49, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
He was a driver for Emulsions Inc.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Elks, Moose, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Lawrenceville.
Surviving are his wife, Amy (Carson); a daughter, Kristen Mahrenholz of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sons, Justin of Bridgeport and Jeremy of Evansville; two stepsons, Jeffrey Abel of Vincennes and Shannon “Skeet” Abel of Indianapolis; two brothers, Gene and Steve, both of Lawrenceville; a grandson; and a stepgranddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST today at Gardner & Son Funeral Home in Vincennes, Ind., with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.

Ralph Stanfield
PALESTINE, Ill. — Ralph E. Stanfield, 46, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He had a heart condition.
He retired as a truck driver.
He was a member of the Palestine First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 849, past president of Eagles and president of the Palestine Booster Club.
He umpired and was president of the Palestine Little League and Babe Ruth teams, coached Pee Wee Football, was scoutmaster for Troop 333 and a Cub scoutmaster.
Surviving are his wife, Marsha (Moade); a daughter, Shannon Moade of Akin; two sons, Andrew Kincade of Lawton, Okla., and Ryan of Palestine; his parents, Reuel and Helen (Campbell) Stanfield; a sister, Cynthia Bantican Lawrence of Palestine; a brother, David of Palestine; a grandson, David Scott Kincade; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial in Palestine cemetery.
