Nathaniel Pinkstaff
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Nathaniel Owen Pinkstaff, 82, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at United Methodist Village.He retired in 1980 from Texaco Inc., after 30 years as a powerhouse operator.
He was a member of First Christian Church and the Lawrenceville American Legion Post.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; two daughters, Patricia Boyd of Indianola, Iowa, and Nancy Senters of Decatur; three sons, A.R. of Houston, Roger C. of Flat Rock and Jeffrey of Francisco, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at a later date at Smith Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. There will be no burial. He donated his body for scientific research.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or to the First Christian Church Accessibility Fund.
James Green
BURNT PRAIRIE, Ill. — James L. “Jim” Green, 69, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, near his home. The cause of death is under investigation by the White County Coroner.
He was a retired timber cutter and currently serving as Road Commissioner of Burnt Prairie Township.
He was a member of Enfield General Baptist Church.
He was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Gieselman of Mount Vernon; two sons, Randy of Mill Shoals and Roger of Burnt Prairie; two brothers, George of Oklahoma and Emory of Rantoul; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro Chapel, with burial in Salem cemetery near Burnt Prairie.

Charles Tischer
ROBINSON, Ill. — Charles “Chuck” Junior Tischer, 61, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home of lung cancer.
He worked for the Glazer-V.E. Anderson Manufacturing Co.
He attended the Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Dawn Baker of Paris, Ill.; a son, Kent of Champaign; five stepsons, Eddie, Ronnie, Johnny and David Whittmore, all of Woodbury, Tenn., and James Whittmore of Fountain, Colo.; seven adopted children, Jessica, Robert, Gary, Dakota and Frankie Tischer, all of Robinson, Charles Taylor Tischer of Nashville, Tenn., and Robert Fitzsimmons Tischer of Woodbury; four sisters, Flora Belle Shumaker, Mary Ellis and Beverly Solomon, all of Paris, and Norma Wells of Robinson; a brother, Paul of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Bonnie Clutter, Brandy Bennett, Glenda Stevens, Chris Pierson and Creighton and Andy Ryan; 13 stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Louise, died in 1998.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pulliam Funeral Home Robinson Chapel, with burial in Paris Memorial Gardens in Paris.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
There will be a family dinner at Trinity United Methodist Church in Paris at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
Glen Marks Jr.
OLNEY, Ill. — Glen Eugene Marks Jr., 49, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville of cancer.
He was assistant administrator of Marks Sunset Manor.
He was a member and past master of Olney Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Scottish Rite, Center Shrine, Ainad Temple, Olney Moose Lodge, Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, Janet; a daughter, Melissa Prusaczwk of West Frankfort; four sons, David Glen Marks of Effingham, Eric Toliver and Jeremiah Marks, both of Olney, and Aaron Toliver of Urbana; her parents, Glen and Dorothy Marks of Olney; four sisters, Terrie Marks of Olney, Linda Malone of Enfield, Sandra King of Tega City, S.C., and Melody Kim Lehman of Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren, Rachael Dawn and Ashley Renee Marks and Andrew and Tateon Prusaczwk.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, with burial in Haven Hill cemetery.

Gladys Elliott
ROSICLARE, Ill. — Gladys Marie Elliott, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.
She was a retired beautician.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Becky Long of Cave In Rock; a son, Clyde Wesley of Champaign; a sister, Pauline Humm of Rosiclare; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hosick Funeral Home Rosiclare Chapel, with burial in Fluorine cemetery.
Bessie Weirauch
CARMI, Ill. — Bessie Weirauch, 104, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.
She was a member of Brownsville Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Sailer of Carmi; a half brother, Frank Warren of Norris City; four grandchildren, Nancy Proctor, Judy Satterfield and Jo and Tracy Sue Russell; five great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home Carmi Chapel, with burial in White County Memorial Garden.

Esther Carter
NORRIS CITY, Ill. — Esther Z. Carter, 84, formerly of Norris City, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Surviving are two sisters, Ferne Reed of Creal Springs and Ruth Messier of Marquette, Mich.; three brothers, Lowell Wayne Travelstead of Marion, Alvin Eugene Travelstead of Creal Springs and Marvin Dale Travelstead of Rector, Ark.
Her husband, Franklin, died in 1943.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Village cemetery in Norris City.

Roger Williams
THOMPSONVILLE, Ill. — Roger Williams, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Parkway Manor in Marion.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Thompsonville.
He was a member of American Legion Post 1194 and the Franklin County Farm Bureau.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Hazel Miller and Louise Rogers, both of Thompsonville; a son, Joe of Thompsonville; three sisters, Angeline Cox of Layton, Utah, Edith Milan of Roswell, Ga., and Ruth Patton of Marion; a brother, Oliver of Thompsonville; and three grandchildren, Lisa and Amy Miller and Darin Rogers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Church, with burial in Ebenezer cemetery, with military rites.

Barney Howder
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Barney G. “Goog” Howder, 60, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home.
He was a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca (Dicus); two daughters, Rebecca “Snookie” Howder of Bellmont and Kimberly Howder of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Clara Seals and Peg Foster, both of Vincennes, Ind.; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Howder.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery in Vincennes, Ind.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Kathleen Mary Sandefer, 82, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
She had been schoolteacher and was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; two daughters, Mary K. Davis of Vincennes, Ind., and Ann Marie Hartigan of the state of Washington; three sons, Michael of Harrisville, N.Y., Richard of Charleston and Robert A. of Sumner; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with burial in Lawrenceville City cemetery.
