Stella Motley

HARRISBURG, Ill, — Stella Goodman Motley, 98, died Saturday Feb. 19, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

She had been a seamstress with the WPA and a domestic housekeeper.

She was a member and on the usher board of the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, member of Helping Hands Club and Loyalty Home Extension.

Surviving are a daughter, Henrietta Moss of Harrisburg; a brother, Coy Goodman of Rome, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, Patricia Richardson, Linda Williams, Elizabeth Jones, Sara Coleman, Nona Rice, Beverly Sanders, Miriam Clingman, Charlotte Taborn, Cecil Turner, Ray Booker and Winfred, Randall, Raymond and William Moss; 51 great-grandchildren; and 56 great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, William McKinley Motley, and a daughter, Beatrice Medlock, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Sunset Gardens cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm. today at Gaskins Funeral Home.

Margaret Gore

SHAWNEETOWN, Ill. — Margaret Ferguson Gore, 85, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.

She was a member of the Shawneetown First Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are two daughters, Megan Hill of Southwest City, Mo., and Julie Story of New York City; two brothers, Richard G. Ferguson of Chicago and Charles Dale Ferguson of Evansville; and three grandchildren, Jessica and Lauren Hill and Lewis T. Story III.

Her husband, Lyle Brown Gore, died in 1991.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Westwood cemetery. Vickery Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mary Moore

SUMNER, Ill. — Mary Ruth Moore, 86, died Wednesday, March, 1, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was a member of the Sumner Congregational Christian Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Georgia Harbaugh of Sumner; a son, Robert of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Margie Bennett of Sumner; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Noble James Moore, died in 1964.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Cresthaven cemetery in Claremont.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dale Sullivan

HARRISBURG, Ill. — Dale Harlen Sullivan, 80, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He retired as president of the First State Bank in Eldorado and had owned and operated the Sullivan Loan Co.

He was an elder and former secretary of the Harrisburg First Presbyterian Church, president of Eldorado Rotary Club, the original founder of Harrisburg Santa Claus Fund and active in the Salvation Army.

Surviving are his wife, Carla; three daughters, Sara Wettaw of Cornelius, N.C., Patty Carlson and Lynn Harper, both of Harrisburg; two stepdaughters, Connie Brown of Harrisburg and Chris Cape of Sanders, Ariz.; a stepson, Grant Cape of Harrisburg; a brother, F.M. of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harrisburg First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Lindale cemetery in Eldorado.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gaskins funeral Home.

Phyllis Compton

ALLENDALE, Ill. — Phyllis J. Compton, 52, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville from a heart attack.

Surviving are her husband, Jerry; two stepdaughters, Darla K. Rigsby of Bowling Green, Ky., and Jeri Lynn Parr of Mount Carmel; a stepson, Tom Compton of Mount Carmel; her mother, Mary Moudy West of Allendale; a sister, Marjorie Carey of Scottsburg, Ind.; three brothers, Robert Moudy of Allendale, Dennis Moudy of Mount Carmel and Gary Ty Moudy of St. Francisville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Short Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Myrtle Carsten

MCLEANSBORO, Ill. — Myrtle E. Carsten, 78, of Dale, Ill., died Wednesday, March 2, 2000, at her home.

She was a member of the First General Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband James E.; four daughters, Nancy Pietz of Clovis, Calif., Joan Johnson of Fresno, Calif., Sandra Allen of Benton and Brenda Biggerstaff of McLeansboro; two sons, Lindell Launius of Herrin and Dennis Allen of Downers Grove; three sisters, Jean Stoll of West Frankfort, Lillie Bennet of Louisiana, and Letha Sanford of Forest Park; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First General Baptist Church, with burial in Hickory Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Harre Funeral Home.

Aline Marlow

PALESTINE, Ill. — Aline Marlow, 81, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Crawford Memorial Hospital.

She retired from the specialty printing department at the Robinson Daily News.

She was a member of the Eagles, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries and the Women of the Moose.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Brodie of Carlisle, Ind.; three sisters, Rayburn Homcoe and Gayle Hubber, both of Hammond, Ind.; a brother, Dick Wells of Foley, Ala.; three granddaughters, Loretta Lynn Bishop, Tamara Wisdom and Charlotte Roach; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Enos Bishop, her second husband, Ron Marlow, a daughter in infancy and a son, Gregory Eugene Bishop.

Services will be at 8 p.m. today at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial pending at Jones cemetery in Flat Rock.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Kathern Yates

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. — Kathern R. Yates, 64, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Wabash General Hospital. She had diabetes.

She had worked at Caterpillar in Joliet and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries.

Surviving are three sisters, Emma Michaels of Grayville, and Martha Higgins and Eula Banks, both of Mount Carmel; and three brothers, Joe and Roy Banks, both of Mount Carmel, and Willard Banks of Leesville, La.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Allendale cemetery. There will be no visitation at Short Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

James McGuire

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. — James E. McGuire, 67, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He retired from Snap-On Tools in 1996, after 40 years.

He was an Army veteran.

He was a member of the First Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma (Abney); a daughter, Melissa Henze of Shelbyville; three sons, Terry and Bradley, both of Mount Carmel, and Brian of Carbondale; a sister, Olive L. Wallace of Mount Carmel; two brothers, Bob of Pine Haven, Wyo., and Dick of Oxnard, Calif.; and five grandsons, Travis, Daniel and Nathan McGuire and Bryce and Preston Henze.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of God, with burial in Highland Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Short Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.

Rowena Fyffe

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Rowena Fyffe, 80, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the United Methodist Village.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in St. Francisville and the Eastern Star.

Surviving are a daughter, Ann Fulton of Lawrenceville; a son, Kim of Lawrenceville; a sister, Erma Jones of New Mexico; a granddaughter, Angela Wright; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, and an infant son.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sumner City cemetery. There will be no visitation at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.

Infant Cameron Dunk

SHAWNEETOWN, Ill. — Cameron Nickolas Dunk, 4-month old son of Norma and Ronald Dunk of Shawneetown, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the Harrisburg Medical Center. He was born premature and had been in and out of the hospital since birth.

Also surviving are three brothers, Michael, Christopher and Steven, all of Shawneetown; and his grandmother, Rose Dunk of Junction.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m.today in the Elmwood cemetery in Equality.

Mary Powell

CISNE, Ill. — Mary S. Powell, 89, died Tuesday Feb. 22, 2000, at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the Cisne Southern Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Vera Billingsley of Fairfield and Jackie Harris of Washington, Ind.; a son, Allen Dean Powell of Flora; two sisters, Ruth McNeil of Cisne and Virginia Deem of Geff; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hosselton Funeral Home, with burial in Cisne cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
