Novella Leathers
CISNE — Novella V. “Nongie” Leathers, 83, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
She was a member of Cisne Methodist Church and the Cisne United Methodist Women.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Lingafelter of Flora; two sisters, Violet Leathers of Cisne and Vivian Scroggins of Oakland, Ark.; two grandchildren, Mary Redenbo and Leslie “Butch” Lingafelter; two great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandchild.
Her husband, Dale M., died in 1983.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hosselton Funeral Home, with burial in Jacobs Chapel cemetery in Xenia.

Mary Johnson
HARRISBURG — Mary Lola Johnson, 93, formerly of Harrisburg, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Medco Nursing Home in Bowling Green, Ky.
She was a member of Harrisburg First United Methodist Church and the Wesleyans and the Home Extension.
Surviving are a son, Alfred Dale of Bowling Green; two grandchildren, Steve Mitchell and Kimberly Ann Johnson; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J., in 1984, and a daughter, Mickie Mitchell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskins Funeral Home, with burial in Lindale cemetery in Eldorado.

Bobby Lingafelter
FAIRFIELD — Bobby L. Lingafelter, 70, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital of multiple myeloma.
He worked as an oil field drilling contractor with Lingafelter Drilling.
Surviving are two sons, David of Fairfield and Mikel of Wayne City; a brother, Garry of West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Rob, Melanie, Jennifer, David Jr., Eric, Crystal and Mikel Lingafelter and Melissa Lingafelter Miller; and his companion, Elouise Powell of Fairfield.
His wife, Mildred (Locke), died in 1996.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nale’s Funeral Home Fairfield Chapel, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

Charles Dixon Jr.
FAIRFIELD — Charles H. Dixon Jr., 52, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at his home.
He was a former construction worker.
Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Dixon of Evansville; a son, Charles H. III of Evansville; three sisters, Dolores Rose and Glenda Isles, both of Fairfield, and Joyce Turner of Evansville; six brothers, David Potts of Fairfield, Jerry, Charles and Johnny Potts, all of Arkansas, Gary Potts of Fort Branch, Ind., and Billy Potts of Wichita, Kan.; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nale’s Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery, with military rites.

Mary Duckworth
ENFIELD — Mary Helen Duckworth, 83, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.
Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Prince of Poseyville, Ind.; four sons, Robert L. “Bob” of Carmi, Noel and Donnie, both of Enfield, and Lowell of Albion; two sisters, May Johnson of Carmi and Marcella Garrett of Mill Shoals; a brother, John L. Parks of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in Enfield cemetery.

Charles Shuppert
BRIDGEPORT — Charles “Toots” Shuppert, 85, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Lawrence Community Healthcare Center.
He retired from Marathon Oil Co.
Surviving are his wife, Jane; a son, Mike of rural Lawrenceville; a sister, Doris McNew of Apollo Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Crest Haven Memorial Park cemetery. There will be no visitation at Cunningham Funeral Home.
Esther Dickey
ROBINSON — Esther L. Dickey, 81, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Crawford Memorial Hospital.
She had been a dental assistant for more than 30 years.
She was a past member of Eastern Star and White Shrine. She was a member of Robinson First Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Ladies of the Elks.
Surviving are two sons, Carl Pinkstaff of Robinson and Jack Pinkstaff of LaPlace, La.; three stepsons, Fred, Russell and Robert Dickey; three grandsons, Jimmie, Ryan and Brad Pinkstaff; five stepgrandchildren; and nephews.
Her husband, Owen A., died in 1959.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Goodwine Funeral Home, with burial in Oblong City cemetery.

Ethel Bunting
ALBION — Ethel Bunting, 95, died Wednesday, May 11, 2000, at Rest Haven Manor in Albion.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard and Duane Stennett, both of Albion; a sister Lorene Rector of Albion; five grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Samoria Baptist Church, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. Nale’s Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Natalee Sturm
CROSSVILLE — Natalee Sturm, 63, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at her home under hospice care.
She was a retired home caregiver and was a member of the Carmi Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are a niece and nephew who cared for her, Janice Carrell of Grayville and J.R. Prince of Crossville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home Crossville Chapel, with burial in Centerville cemetery.

Billy Woodrow
SPRINGERTON — Billy D. Woodrow, 69, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in the emergency room at Fairfield Memorial Hospital of a heart attack.
He had been a carpenter.
He was a Korean War Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 1126 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carmi.
Surviving are his wife, Carol (Puntney); three daughters, Shari Woodrow of Effingham and Patty Clark and Barbara Nelson, both of Springerton; a son, Dennis of Springerton; three sisters, Verna Lee Etienne of Springerton, Peggy Stahl of Denver and Doris Prince of Byesville, Ohio; a brother, Henry of Springerton; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elledge Funeral Home Enfield Chapel, with burial in Springerton cemetery.

WEST SALEM — Rosa M. Williams, 89, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, in Kissimmee, Fla.
Surviving are her husband, Richard; two sons, William L. Jones of West Salem and Charles Robert Jones of Kissimmee; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, Bradford A. Jones, and a son, James Richard, preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Moravian cemetery in West Salem.
Barbara Dowdy
HARRISBURG — Barbara J. Dowdy, 67, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
She attended New Castle Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebeccah Hand of Benton; two sons, Steve and Mike Ramsey, both of Glendale, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Winter and Ehren Ramsey and Tabatha and Tyler Harris; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Donald, died in January.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Sunset Garden cemetery.
