Lorraine McCord

LAWRENCEVILLE — Lorraine L. McCord, 61, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.

She had worked at Central Industries and was a member of St. James AME Church in Law-renceville.

Surviving are three daughters, Starla Lawson of Bridgeport, Carleen McCord of Lawrenceville and Norma McCord of Indianapolis; her mother, Opal Morris Curry of Lawrencevillle; a sister, Dora Williams of Robinson; two brothers, Carl and Larry Curry, both of rural Bridgeport; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The body will be cremated. A memorial service is pending. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Leonard Moore

GRAYVILLE — Leonard A. Moore, 83, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel.

He was a retired carpenter’s helper and a World War II veteran.

Surviving are four sisters, Marie DiGirolomo of Midland, Ga., Dorris Fisher of Vincennes, Ind., Lola Greer of Mount Carmel and Janet Marlow of Bellmont; five brothers, Murel Hayward Moore of Mount Carmel, Glen Moore of Bloomington, Ind., Robert Moore of Grayville, Jerry Moore of Hot Springs, Ark., and Donald Moore of New Whiteland, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home Grayville Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Betty Rogers

CARMI — Betty Joyce Rogers, 66, of Pocahontas, Ark., formerly of Carmi, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at St. Bernard Regional Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., of heart failure.

She worked as a seamstress at Unique Cleaners and operated an alteration shop.

She was a member of the Assembly of God.

Surviving are her husband, Charles J.; a daughter, Karla Sageser of Carmi; three sons, Charles Wayne of Pocahontas, Richard of Carmi and Merle of Sandoval; a sister, Juanita McKee of Carmi; a brother, Floyd McCluskey of Albion; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home Carmi Chapel, with burial in White County Memorial Garden.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

L.E. Wilson Sr.

ROBINSON — L.E. “Chink” Wilson Sr., 78, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Crawford Memorial Hospital.

He retired from Birdwell Co. in 1984, after 21 years. He then served as a deputy sheriff and chief deputy in Crawford County for eight years.

He was a member of Robinson American Legion Post 69, Robinson Elks 1188 and a life member of Robinson Veterans of Foreign Wars 4549.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in England in a railroad battalion during the Blitz.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma (Weger); two sons, L.E. “Gene” Jr. and Nolan, both of Robinson; a sister, Berdina Hardesty of Robinson; a brother, Larry of Pauline, S.C.; four grandchildren, Noel Tentell, Chad Wilson, Shannon Creasey and L.E. “Gene” Wilson III; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwine Funeral Home Robinson Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery in rural Palestine.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial Fund.

Thomas Peebels Sr.

CARRIER MILLS — Thomas Franklin Peebels Sr., 66, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Lesa Van Dyke of Carrier Mills and Lori Peebels of Atlanta; a son, Thomas Franklin Jr. of Carrier Mills; two sisters, Kathleen Meneese and Jeanetta Bays, both of Marion; two brothers, Rex and William, both of Pittsburg; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Hazel Deisher

MOUNT CARMEL — Hazel M. Deisher, 85, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Wabash General Hospital.

She had worked at a clothing factory.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Wever of Shady Banks, Texas, Shirley McGarrah of Princeton, Ind., and Carolyn Deisher of Mount Carmel; a son, Paul of Lancaster; four sisters, Delsie Goodson, Mary Ingle and Goldie Deisher, all of Mount Carmel, and Nina Joyce of Cadiz, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Her husband, Estes, died in 1981.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Short Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenny Vickery

SHAWNEETOWN — Kenny Vickery, 29, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare of injuries from a motorcycle accident in Hardin County.

He was a horse trainer and member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Leona and Ed Holeman of Sturgis, Ky.; his father, Ed Paul Vickery of Shawneetown; two sisters, Paula Hise of Shawneetown and Angela Wenzel of Bethalto; his grandmother, Glena Vickery; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vickery Funeral Home, with burial in Westwood cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Zachary Wheeler

HEROD — Zachary James Wheeler, 25, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He was involved in a motorcycle accident Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Hardin County.

Surviving are his parents, Gary and Kay Wheeler of Herod; a brother, Gabriel of Herod; his grandmother, Lorene Wheeler; and great-grandmothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home, with burial in Vinyard Chapel cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

David Tarlton

HARRISBURG — David Tarlton, 46, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado of a heart attack.

He was an asbestos worker working out of Local 207.

Surviving are his mother, Lois Raymer of Harrisburg; two brothers, Rick Day of Salem, Mo., and Roger Tarlton of Harrisburg; and a nephew.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Lawn cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charles Jordan

CARMI — Charles E. “Gene” Jordan, 81, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his home.

He was the owner and operator of Jordan Cabinet Shop.

He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 224.

He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Virginia; two daughters, Deborah Lynn Jordan of Carmi and Sondra Hanks of Grayville; two sons, Charles Michael and Joseph Lee, both of Carmi; a sister Lois Healy of Tacoma, Wash.; a grandchild, Bobby Johnson; a stepgranddaughter, Andrea.

Donald Eaves

DAHLGREN — Donald E. Eaves, 70, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was a retired salesman and theater entertainer.

He was Protestant.

Surviving are his wife, Zoe Elaine (Adams); a stepdaughter, Elaine Prasuhn of Farmington, Mo.; a sister, Helen Schmidt of Ottumwa, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Bradley and Taylor Prasuhn.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Gholson Funeral Home Dahlgren Chapel, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Menard Tate

GALATIA — Menard M. Tate, 84, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

He worked as a supervisor for General Motors in Pontiac, Mich.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Galatia and a former member of the Columbia Avenue Baptist Church in Pontiac.

Surviving are his wife, Lillie (McDonald); two sons, Harold M. of Galatia and Jerry Ray of Lapeer, Mich.; a brother, Leland of Oxford, Mich.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bernie Lee.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sloan Funeral Home, with burial in Tates Chapel cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
