Nola Phillpott

LAWRENCEVILLE — Nola M. Phillpott, 80, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, Owen; and three grandchildren.

Her son, Wendell G. Pasternak, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Cresthaven Memorial Park cemetery.

Earl Bowman

ANNAPOLIS — Earl Bowman, 85, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Crawford Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit.

He had been a farmer.

Surviving are a daughter, Gladys Roberts of Annapolis; a brother, Leland of Porterville; three grandchildren, Gary and Greg Roberts and Rita Corder; nine great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Mount Pleasant cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to to service time at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John Tice

OLNEY — John Tice, 76, of Pittsfield, formerly of Olney, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He had worked for the International Shoe Co. and National Vinegar Co.

He was a deacon of the First Christian in Pittsfield and former member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney.

He was a life member of the American Legion and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Gill); two sons, Steven of Barry and John Jr. of New Canton; a sister, Frances Bowman of Broomfield, Colo., and Dorothy Moore of Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, with burial in West Village cemetery in rural Edwards County.

Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Jones

CISNE — Mary A. Jones, 94, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

She retired after 41 years with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio.

She was a member of Cisne Christian Church.

Surviving are a sister, Nova Israel of Fenton, Mo.; and nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Roy H., died in 1982.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hosselton Funeral home, with burial in Cisne cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Raymond Pauketat

McLEANSBORO — Raymond J. Pauketat, 76, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. He had Alzheimer’s disease.

He was a farmer.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, 35-year member of Omaha Masonic Lodge, Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis and former member of Hamilton County Economic Development and the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Mosely of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Karen Isley of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Larry of McLeansboro and Kevin of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Minnie Dubson of Decatur and Alvina White of Colorado; a brother, Bill of Millstadt; and six grandchildren, Ryan, Robin and Samantha Pauketat and Jennifer, John and Benjamin Isley.

His wife, Ruth M. (Hummel), and a son, Ronald, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with a Masonic service at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Jack Hershey

ALLENDALE — Jack W. Hershey, 75, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at United Meth-odist Village in Lawrenceville of congestive heart failure.

He had been a truck driver.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Sandy French of Sheridan, Ind.; two sons, Jack and Darrell, both of Allendale; a brother, Gene of Allendale; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ingram Funeral Home, with private burial pending in the Wabash Presbyterian cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Hazel Gaines

ELIZABETHTOWN — Hazel K. Gaines, 93, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Surviving are a son, John J. of Elizabethtown; and two sisters, Gleniss Knight Andrew and Kathryn Knight Hargan, both of Marion.

Her husband, Earl C., preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Bill Dunn

STONEFORT — Bill D. Dunn, 69, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at his home of cancer.

He was a retired coal miner and a Christian.

He was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran and a member of Carrier Mills American Legion Post 364.

Surviving are two daughters, Pam Dunn of Stonefort and Becky Ayon of Creal Springs; two sons, Kent and Monty, both of Stonefort; a brother, Wilbert of Carrier Mills; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dean.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with burial in Salem cemetery in Carrier Mills, with military rites.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ray Yoho

MOUNT CARMEL — Ray Yoho, 78, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at his home.

He worked for Getty-Texaco Oil Co for 46 years as a production foreman. He also served as mayor of Birds for 12 years and on the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital Board for 12 years.

He was a member of Elks 1208, American Legion and the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge.

He was a World War II Army and Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Patty (Berry); two daughters, Dea Weger of Lawrenceville and Janet Thomas of Fort Branch, Ind.; three sisters, Neoma Miller of Lake Wood, Calif., Millie Wuhrmann of Normal and Sarah Jones of Seal Beach, Calif.; a brother, Arnold J. of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren, Shelley Ziebell, Jody Andriano, Josh Weger and Jonathan Thomas; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

Willamine O’Brien

NEW HAVEN — Willamine (Lawrence) O’Brien, 86, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at the White County Medical Center in Carmi.

She was a master seamstress and was well-known in the area for her sewing ability.

She was a member of Living Waters Pentecostal Church and the New Haven Senior Citizens.

Surviving are her husband, Leo; three daughters, Laveda Pyle and Laura Lee Norris, both of New Haven, and Lola Downes of Godfrey; four grandchildren, Lynne Davis, Terry Burnam, Regina Kruse and Chris Pyle; eight great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Lawrence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cox & Son Funeral Home New Haven Chapel, with burial in Union Ridge cemetery near New Haven.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
