FAIRFIELD, Ill. — Hylman C. Vanway, 91, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Wayfair Restorium.

He was a farmer and had worked at Kincaids for several years.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby; a son Charles of Campbellsburg, Ind.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nale’s Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

‘Jackie’ Cole

CAVE IN ROCK, Ill. — Charles Gladys “Jackie” Cole, 91, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Rosiclare Healthcare Center.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Sunset Hill cemetery in Harrisburg. Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Patty Carie

ST. FRANCISVILLE, Ill. — Patty R. White Carie, 61, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

She was a member of the St. Francisville Free Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Ray A., of Sumner; a daughter, Patricia Joan White of Sumner; six stepchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Harris, and Sarah Malcolm, both of Vincennes, Ind.; three brothers, Donald Ray White of St. Francisville, Kenneth White of Lawrenceville and Larry White of Chammaha; 19 stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cunningham-Nichols Funeral Home, with burial in Allendale cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bertha Molina

ROSICLARE, Ill. — Bertha Hogan Molina, 88, formerly of Rosiclare, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at her home in Springfield.

She was a member of the Evangel Temple Church of God.

Surviving are four sons, Robert and William J. Hogan, both of Springfield, James Hogan of Davenport, Iowa, and Gary Hogan of Marshall; a brother, John Foot of Hesperia, Calif.; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ray Hogan, her second husband, Frank Molina, a daughter, Mary Alice Hogan, and by two sons, John Henry and William Hogan.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Bisch & Son Funeral Home in Springfield. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Odd Fellows Empire cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time Monday at Bisch & Son Funeral Home.

Hosick Funeral Home Rosiclare Chapel is handling local arrangements.

Billy Threlkeld

McLEANSBORO, Ill. — Billy D. Threlkeld, 68, of Kankakee, formerly of McLeansboro, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee of cancer.

He worked at Kankakee State Mental Health Facility as the head of security.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in McLeansboro, McLeansboro American Legion Post 106 and Carmi Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a Korean War Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Rosalie; two daughters, Pamala Threlkeld of Kankakee and Teresa Smith of Monticello, Ind.; a son, Bill of Kankakee; a sister, Linda Webb of McLeansboro; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Harre Funeral Home McLeansboro Chapel, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Paul Snidle

OLNEY, Ill. — Paul Snidle, 87, formerly of Albion, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Burgin Manor in Olney.

He was a retired antique dealer and a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Donna; a daughter, Sharon Baer of Newburgh, Ind.; a son, Glenn of Lake Placid, Fla.; a sister, Emily Marshall of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Nale’s Funeral Home Albion Chapel, with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Robert Simpson Jr.

OMAHA, Ill. — Robert Lee Simpson Jr., 72, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at City Care Center in Eldorado.

He owned and operated a service station and was a retired construction worker.

He was a member of Omaha General Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Mary Kay Graham of West Frankfort and Cheryl Ciaravino of Bush Kill, Pa.; two sons, Robert Joe of Omaha and Donald Wayne of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vickery Funeral Home Omaha Chapel, with burial in Palestine II cemetery in Omaha.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Martha Hurd

CARRIER MILLS, Ill. — Martha “Bant” Hurd, 74, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg.

Surviving are her husband, Roland; a daughter, Lola Jean Valdez of Carrier Mills; a son, Jack of Carrier Mills; a sisters, Imogene Shelton of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Jack, Missy and Will Hurd, Carla Natzel and Victor Jr. and Andy Valdez; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Roland.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Salem cemetery.

There will be no visitation at Felty Funeral Home. Friends should meet at the cemetery.

Virginia Witherspoon

CARMI — Virginia B. Witherspoon, 97, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.

She had worked as a seamstress for Ainsbrook Garment Factory for 45 years.

Surviving are two sons, Dale of Carmi and Dwight of Lady Lake, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mark and Chris Witherspoon, Terri Rice and Sheri Lowe; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in Kingdom cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Edith Rose

ROSICLARE — Edith Rose, 99, of Eichorn, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Rosiclare Health Care Center.

She was a member of Social Brethren Church and Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Gertrude Raines of Golconda and Roberta Marks of Salem, Mo.; a son, Guy of Golconda; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Her husband, Clifford, died in 1982.

Services were held Thursday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare, with burial in Rose cemetery in Herod.

Paul Hodges

NORRIS CITY — Paul A. Hodges, 79, died of heart failure Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at his home.

He was a World War II Army veteran and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3851.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Sue; a stepdaughter, Sherrie Duvall of Lockport; and a nephew.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home, with burial in Enfield cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Zerilla Carter

LAWRENCEVILLE — Zerilla Carter, 99, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at United Methodist Village.

She had been a telephone operator for Texaco Inc.

She was a member of Billett United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Alice Shelton of Hammond, Ind.; two sons, Ira Crouch of Naples, Fla., and Herbert Crouch of Beverly Hills, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dan Crouch; her second husband, Ted Carter; a daughter, Etta Thompson; and a son, Charles.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Billett United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
