John Hartz
BRIDGEPORT — John W. “Jack” Hartz, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.
He retired after 17 years with the Elks in Lawrencville, was a representative for Eaton Monument Co. and a night security guard for Mid-American Air Center.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Elks and Disabled American Veterans.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Sarah “Sue” Denind of Bridgeport; two sons, John T. of Bloomington, Ill., and Art of Bridgeport; two sisters, Margorie Bray of Wisconsin and Josephine Brier of Virginia; six grandchildren, Greg and Rusty Hartz, Heidi Sutherlin, Lisa Lemeron, Cathy Hortin and Susan Jameson; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
His wife, Mary Elizabeth (Loveless), died in 1984.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, burial pending.

Brad Pinkstaff
LAWRENCEVILLE — Brad W. Pinkstaff, 19, of Vincennes, Ind., died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in Allison Township of injuries in an automobile accident.
He was a boilermaker.
He was a 1999 graduate of Temple High School in Temple, Ga., and attended Olney Central College for a year for welding training.
Surviving are his mother, Pam (Case) Pinkstaff Lucas of Vincennes, Ind.; his father, Ronnie Joe Pinkstaff of Carrollton, Ga.; two brothers, Joey of Vincennes and Ronnie of Jasper, Ind.; his grandmother, Carolyn Case; and a niece and nephew.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Price cemetery in Russellville, Ill.

Verna Hetherington
FLAT ROCK — Verna Lea Hetherington, 66, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She worked for Golden Rule for 12 years.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E.; three stepdaughters, Christine Anderson of Greenville, Mich., Mary Mangus of Lyons, Mich. and Tracy Ann Hetherington of Orleans, Mich.; two stepsons, Joseph F. and Robert D., both of Lyons, Mich.; her mother, Mary M. Ernest Goff; her father, Charles Hetherington; a sister, Joan Rasico of Flat Rock; two brothers, Harley Goff of rural Flat Rock and Sherman Goff of rural Lawrenceville; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Cresthaven Memorial Park.

Hazel Dailey
HARRISBURG — Hazel Dailey, 78, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at her home in rural Metropolis.
She was a member of the Republican Women of Pope County and Golconda First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Merle; a daughter, Marta Smith of Sikeston, Mo.; three sons, Stephen and Michael, both of Marion, and Perry of Metroplis; a sister, Virginia Pierce of Harrisburg; a brother, J.P. Hilliard of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda, with burial in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.

Margaret Barnett
NEW HAVEN — Margaret (Farris) Barnett, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She had had a stroke.
She was a member and the organist at the New Haven Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a sister, Melissa Drone of Ridgway; and two brothers, Bernie Farris of Ridgway and Richard Farris of Indianapolis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cox & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Union Ridge cemetery.
Ada Horn
LAWRENCEVILLE — Ada Margaret Horn, 71, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at Lawrence Community Health Care in Bridgeport.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, William A. “Bill”; a daughter, Debbie Bones of Champaign; a son, Bill of Lawrenceville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, with burial in Lawrenceville City cemetery.

Raymond Nestleroad
BRIDGEPORT — Raymond E. Nestleroad, 50, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He was postmaster at Allendale and had been a letter carrier in Bridgeport for 28 years and postmaster in West Liberty for two years.
He was a Vietnam War Army veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a member of Highway Church of God in Lawrenceville.
He was a trustee of Bridgeport Fire Protection, a former EMT, a member of the Gideons and Elks, a Sunday school superintendent, secretary of Bridgeport Community Club and a former Scoutmaster and Little League coach.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie E.; two sons, Micheal Scott and Justin Ryan, both of Bridgeport; his mother, Lillie V. Nestleroad of Bridgeport; a brother, Robert “Bob” Wayne of Lawrenceville; and a grandson, Drew Malachi Nestleroad.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highway Church of God in Lawrenceville, with burial in Bridgeport cemetery.

Eithel Milligan
SHAWNEETOWN — Eithel Milligan, 85, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was a member of Shawneetown Emmanuel Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Vina Lou Milligan of Shawneetown; a sister, Theresea Collins of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and a grandson, Johnny Hendrix.
Her husband, John Sol, died in 1992.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Westwood cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Vickery Funeral Home.
Robert Davis
CISNE — Robert W. “Bob” Davis, 71, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at his home. The Wayne County Coroner is investigating the cause of death.
He had been a farmer and livestock hauler.
He was a former member of Wayne County Coon Hunters Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; three daughters, Trena Cline of Boyleston, Jena Woods of Fairfield and Dena Dunnuck of Flora; two sons, Wesley of Flora and Todd of Boyleston; three sisters, Wilma Nickels of Shelbyville, Goldie McQueen of Mattoon and Lula Bell Pugsley of Pana; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hosselton Funeral Home, with burial in Branch cemetery in Geff.

Robert Hortin
ALBION — Robert D. Hortin, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of Edwards County Farm Bureau and Rest Haven Manor Board.
Surviving are his wife, Vaunda; a daughter, Phyllis Kukla of Lockhart, Texas; a son, Bruce of Albion; two sisters, Mary Chalcraft of Albion and Vera Fewkes of Browns; a brother, Clyde of Albion; five grandchildren, Lisa Krushinski, Janet Price, Bonnie and John Hortin and Charlotte Foster; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
