Rev. Michael Maughan
ENFIELD — The Rev. Michael Maughan, 83, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.
He was born in Ireland.
He was ordained in 1943 and served as a missionary in Nigeria from 1944 to 1950, from 1951 to 1953 served at the Archdiocese in New York, served the Philadelphia Archdiocese from 1953 to 1958 and retired in 1997 after 17 years as pastor at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Enfield.
Surviving are a sister, Kathleen Mannion of Mayo, Ireland; and three brothers, Peter of Coventry, England, Christopher of Kildare, Ireland, and Francis of Galway, Ireland.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in the priests’ section of the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the church.
Rosemary Wright
LAWRENCEVILLE — Rosemary Wright, 85, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.
She taught school for 31 years, She was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. She was a member of Illinois Retired Teacher’s Association and First Christian Church, life member of the National Education Association and was a Gray Lady for the American Red Cross for 15 years.
Surviving are her husband, Leslie; two sons, Roger of Rexford, N.Y., and Jeryl of Camillus, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, with burial in the Lawrenceville City cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.

Arilla Gawthorp
WEST SALEM — Arilla (Headley) Gawthorp, 84, of Crowley, La., died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Crowley Guest House.
Surviving are two sons, Gary of West Salem and the Rev. Wayland of Crowley; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loy, and a son, Keith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Erie Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Macedonia cemetery.

Dr. Wilbur Stanelle
SHAWNEETOWN — Dr. Wilbur F. Stanelle, 86, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He had a medical practice in Shawneetown from 1940 to 1981, was a 1938 graduate of the Chicago Stretch School of Medicine and member, deacon and taught Sunday school for 37 years at the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; two daughters, Sandra Butts of Sturgis, Ky., and Gail Wenzel of Paris, Ill.; two sons, Mike and Greg, both of Shawneetown; a sister, Frances Johnson of North Fort Meyers, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, with burial in Westwood cemetery.

Donnie Beck
McLEANSBORO — Donnie Beck, 69, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital of heart failure.
He was the assistant service manager for Rice Motors in Carmi and had worked as a milkman for 27 years with the Ideal Dairy.
He was a Korean War Marine veteran and member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sharron; two sons, Marty and Mark, both of McLeansboro; his stepmother, Lucille Beck of Lawrenceville; a sister, Sandra Hardesty of Lawrenceville; two grandchildren, Kyle Allen and Marilee Beck; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Harre Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery, with military rites.

Robert Lovellette
ELDORADO - Robert Gale 'Bob' Lovellette, 66, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at his home of heart failure.
He worked with heavy equipment in construction and operated Lovellette Excavating.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, was active in the Republican Party for more than 30 years and was precinct committeeman.
Surviving are his wife, Judy (Butler); a daughter, Julia V. 'Ginny' Peterson of Wilmington, N.C.; two sons, Robert Mark of Eldorado and Michael Gale of Harrisburg; a sister, Bonita Rooks of Mansfield, Ohio; a brother, Glendell of Eldorado; seven grandchildren, Lee, Christopher and Scott Lovellette, Amy and Hannah Rhine and Sophia and Weston Peterson; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Watson Funeral Home, with burial in Lindale cemetery.
Mae Deputy
MOUNT CARMEL - Mae 'Mommer' Waddle Deputy, 91, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Wabash General Hospital.
She was the office manager of the Wabash General Hospital for 20 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and quilted with the ladies of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Alice Jeanne McGuire and Sharon Mobley, both of Mount Carmel; a son, Berry Waddle of Evansville; a stepdaughter, Helen Jo Miller of Houston; four grandchildren, Angela Crow, Allyson Newport, Jenifer Randolph and Brock Mobley; six stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Two husbands preceded her in death, Edward H. Waddle and Dinnel Deputy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Short Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memorial cemetery.

James Johnson, Jr.
NORRIS CITY - James M. Johnson, Jr., 78, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at White County Medical Center of heart failure.
Surviving are his friends and care-givers, Dorris Miller of Norris City and her daughter, Sherrie Aud, of Herald.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Oval cemetery near Norris City.

Connie Hamilton
CARMI - Connie Hamilton, 72, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, at White County Medical Center Skilled Care Unit of cancer.
She was a secretary at the Carmi Times and operated CJ's Bait Shop.
Surviving are a daughter, Vicki Hogan of Carmi; grandchildren, Crystal Evetts and Shawn Hogan; and a sister, Sharon Cameron of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home, the Rev. Rex Pilcher officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Cana cemetery in Goreville, Ill.

Louise Conolty
ROBINSON - Louise Conolty, 80, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Crawford Memorial Hospital of a heart condition.
She attended Indiana University and majored in music.
She was a school library aide at Loogootee (Ind.) High School for many years prior to volunteering as a library aide at Washington Elementary School in Robinson.
She was a former member of Indiana Christian Church in Loogootee, where she played the organ for many years, a member of the Catherine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Robinson, Eastern Star in Loogootee, Tuesday Literary Club, Robinson Womens Club, Highland Avenue Church of Christ Thursday Quilting Club and Robinson Highland Avenue Church of Christ.
She enjoyed quilting and won several prizes with her quilts.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Parham of Robinson and Jan Spencer of West Lafayette, Ind.; four grandsons, Rick Parham of Elk Grove Village, Sean Parham of Austin, Texas, and Nathan and Kiel Spencer, both of West Lafayette; and a great-granddaughter, Kailyn Parham.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Robinson Highland Church of Christ, the Rev. Johnie Adkins officiating, with burial in Alfordsville Christian cemetery in Alfordsville, Ind. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m.

ROSICLARE - Olive McMaster Williamson, 97, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Rosiclare Healthcare Center.
She was a member of Rosiclare Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star and Rosiclare Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Virginia Farrell and Dorothy Sneed, both of Rosiclare, and Betty Cox of Paducah, Ky.; a son, Bill McMaster of Elizabethtown, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill McMaster; and her second husband, Martin Williamson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hosick Funeral Home Rosiclare Chapel, the Rev. Roy Lee Baker officiating, with burial in Fluorine cemetery.
